I've had the San Martin a few months , it's magnificent , conversion female end links have been released , £7 , they're currently on the slow boat from China to me.
The Luminox looks like the CASIO MRW200H I’m currently wearing on my wrist … and my CASIO costs $40. Quartz movement, 10bar water resistance and frankly AMAZINGLY accurate - losing around 1-2aec a month. For the price it cannot be beat - best for us in the “small wrist” club.
The casio may be $40, but when handlig it, feels more like a $15 watch. And yes, I have one of them. It looks the part, but feels super cheap, the casio. Night and day difference from the Duro.
Just bought that same watch for $19.99. Spectacular, especially with it looking so much like that Luminox Sea Turtle for less than a 1/10th of the price and the same water resistance rating.
Well done, Ben -- a great video. I think you make a point here that just begins to scratch the surface of an issue more manufacturers should consider: generally, men's watches are too, too large. Anything over 40mm is noticeably big on even larger wrists, and watches over 43mm simply look ridiculous. I wish the industry would learn a lesson from its history, and produce more watches in the 38-40mm range.
Excellent choices, Ben. I have a 6.5 inch wrist, and have several 40-plus divers that I just don’t use. There seem to be some good choices here. Thanks for all the research.
@@joelplascencia3568 I too like the fit of my Orient Rays, even though they are 41.5. I believe it has to do with Orient's wider bands, which distract from the watch's diameter, plus, the lugs turn downward at just the proper angle.
Great video. In general Seiko Diver Watches usually wear much smaller than the specs would suggest. With my skinny 6 inch wrist, I can pull off an SPR777 Turtle no problem. This actually led me to try on an SLA021 MM300 which also felt fine. I ended up getting the discontinued SBDX017 MM300 which is pretty comfy on my wrist. The last addition to the bunch was an SBDC061 MM200. Also, no problem to wear. I must say though I am not a bracelet guy and all 3 watches are on Phoenix or CWC G10 Nato straps. If you like a watch and think it's too big for you, go and try it on! Especially if it's a Seiko. What they do with their cases is some kind of magic.
I've got a few watches from this list for my scrawny wrists, but my diver which gets the most wrist time by far is the Armida A11. At 36mm it's smaller than I thought I'd ever go but I absolutely love it. It has an ETA movement for under $400, a milsub-esque design, great lume, and my version has the day at 6'oclock and not just the date which is really unique. Would wholeheartedly recommend to just about anybody seeking a compact diver, it scratches an itch I thought I would only get from tracking down a Tudor Submariner 75090 or an Omega Seamaster 2551.
The Lorier Neptune is an awesome vintage styled dive watch even though it is $500 USD!! I know since you are not a fan of homage watches, I really encourage you to check out the Heimdallr Sea Ghost. It's an homage to the Omega Seamaster 300 Professional 007 Edition. However, for $250 USD, you are getting a titanium dive watch with a tropical brown dial, a Seiko NH35 movement, a functional helium escape valve and a really great Milanese mesh bracelet with a deployment clasp. It is a 42mm watch with a 49mm lug to lug, but I find it fits my 6 inch wrist!! It's the maximum I would go for a dive watch. I got it a week before the US premier of No Time to Die and it hasn't left my wrist!! It's a really cool watch for the money
That seizenn has a dual time bezel, just fine for a 3 hander. If it had a 24 hour bezel, then it would make no sense unless it had a gmt hand. This is often mixed up.
this video was exactly what i was looking for. i have bigger wrists so i never had issues with dive watches in general but my best friend not so much and I know that he would love to get one that wouldnt look dumb on his small wrists. I wanted to get him one as a birthday gift and this video just saved me a lot of time and research. Greatly appreciated.
Such an amazing roundup! You really did your research and I will be referencing this in the future when i have to buy gifts. While i have tiny wrists as well, I just purchased the Orient Kamasu and it fits extremely well. Its short lug length mean that it wears only slightly larger than a 39mm Vostok.
I just got the Kamasu as well, and it fits like a SKX on my 6.5 inch wrist. Same concept like Seiko with short lugs, I wish more brands did that. And female end links, goddammit!
Solid work here Ben, and I actually said to myself close to the end of this video: This must've taken a hell of a time to put togheter. Great work piecing all this stuff together. As an example, that Seizeen sure gives that over priced (IMHO) Timex a match. An NH35 automatic instead of quartz and better bracelet for less money? Now, that's interesting (and yeah, of course I'm aware of the conditions in China when it comes to manufacturing costs compared to the "western world" and bla bla..). These nostaliga releases are often rarely upgraded but instead with way, way more increaseing prices. Its's like a watch from 1980, without any upgrading but you're paying ridiculously prices for this one now. I also appreciate when you give microbrands a notice here, sometimes these are really good value with great quality, even though they cant compete price wise to the all familiar AliExpress brands. Keep up the good work.
The Long Island watch company makes incredibly good watches. I own two I only own two because they're small and I like larger watches. These are the best watches you can get under $1,000 they average about $3 00 they are built with very high quality. Sapphire crystals sapphire bezel inserts. Bracelets are better than any Seiko bracelet. Best watch for a small wrist person.
A wildcard suggestion would be a Seiko Monster. Availability for gen 1 and 2 models is a bit limited now, and the gen 3 and 4 watches are on the expensive side, but they do genuinely wear much smaller than you might think from the dimensions (in my opinion anyway!). My wrist is around 15.5-16cm and while the Monster looks big, it doesn't look like it's too big, if that makes sense. I think it's the short curved lugs, and the shallow height making it fit better.
I have a 7 3/8” wrist, but I still prefer smaller watches. As I’ve been exploring the world of divers, I’ve been a bit discouraged as it seems like they’re all huge. This video is brilliant and just what I needed! So many great recs on here. Thanks mate!
One more suggestion: My favourite compact budget diver is my 40 mm Dan Henry 1970: perfect size for my 175 mm wrist, moderate weight, iconic 60s style, crazy lume (beats Seiko). $290.-
I have a 6.7/8 (180mm) wrist and the best fitting watch I have is the Seiko SKX023J. J = Japanese market and it has a case size of 37mm with 45mm over lugs. I know they no longer make these but it's perfect for my wrist.
I have the Odyssea and enjoy it. Granted: with a 7.5" wrist I get to pull off a lot of watches, but I can't seem to find a reason to dislike the watch. The bracelet has some QA issues, but not enough for me to RMA the thing. 4.5 stars!
The "vintage" San Martin actually offers female endlinks that you can buy separately and install yourself. They make a great watch even better IMO, Its definitely my favorite watch that I own.
I'm familiar with most of the brands you mentioned. You do a nice job of explaining your choices keeping it moving with a more open ended approach. Using price and originality as deciding factors. Good job.
Great video Ben. I would also like to add the Seiko Monster to the list. Despite the name, the short lug to lug length makes it good for smaller wrists. And they look freaking cool. Plenty of good homages of them too.
Thanks for this video Ben, I loved the Wilhelm scream 👌 The seiko mini solar tunas are also surprisingly wearable considering their dimensions. This is due to the almost non-existent lugs.
Thanks for this video. If I had to sum up my interest in watches, it would be the title of this video. I have a 7.25" wrist but I don't like anything larger than 39mm. You showed me a dozen models I wasn't even aware of! I hope watch brands make more 37-38mm dive watches.
Great video! I also struggle from the skinny wrist syndrome and have really forced myself to only buy 40mm or smaller. My wallet says you should not create more videos with collections for skinny wrists, but I'm sure I would watch it again and put another 3 watches on my wishlist xD
For anyone looking for a 36mm bronze diver with a 43mm lug-to-lug, check out the Dificiano Barracuda. It's a pretty sweet little watch, and the company will give you a discount if you ask them for it.
I recommend you look at the Skagen Fisk 38mm watches. I can recommend them highly, as I have two. The black one is lovely. The orange one , yes, comes with a hideous teal strap-but ditch that and replace it with a black&gray nato and it’s fantastic! Some may thumb their noses at Skagen, but the build quality is good for the price (good finishing and lume, plus 100m water resistance - with a screw-down crown!). And they’re often on sale, I got mine for 80 and 55 USD.
Maybe a "long time" to get through video but a really good collection of smaller. I myself have an average sized wrist but prefer sub 40 divers. Hard to find so thanks for this.
Another option that might be interesting, is the Apeks professional dive watch (female) It may not be a well-known watch brand, but for actual diving they've got a great reputation. The female model has 33mm diameter, 10mm depth on a 16mm strap. The male model is a more standard size at 41/10.5/20mm seiko VX42 quarz, 200m water resistance The look does not seem an immediate copy of someone else, (at least that I can place) while being very much a diver. Price-wise, they come in at about 150 euro or about 120GBP
Superb video, Ben! Really appreciate all the research work this must have taken. It will be saved as a go-to resource whenever I feel the need to re-scratch the diver itch. Hmmm... I should probably reword that last phrase...
I have the 420 case turquoise Vostok amphoia. I have had it regulated and put in on a beautiful chain link bracelet. I love it. As use in the film The Life Aquatic.
Very well curated, Ben! I like the unique case depth and look of the Marathon divers...very unique and cool!. However, the best find of this video for holiday giving is the Lorus Sports RRX89FX9...for a "cheap" watch it still looks very sharp and could be a fun gift for kids and adults alike!
The Seiko SRPG is a nice option too, 43mm case diameter, but only 44mm L2L so it wears much smaller. The thick bezel also helps reduce wrist presence. I have the SRPG59 and it looks very handsome. Added a Strapcode Hexad bracelet that matches very well with the finishing and geometry of the case.
Large watches are the bane of my life - so I just bought a Lorus blue dial RRS59FX3 child's diver with 50mtrs WR, 35mm diameter with a rotating bezel, comes with a 20mm black NATO strap which I will quickly change out for much more colourful one. I have a Vostok Scuba Dude and although I love its Russian rugged industrial vibe, it is simply too big for me. I only sea swim rather than diving so 50mtrs should be fine. Good price too for the Lorus, £16 from Ebay.
I was carrying around a TAG Heuer aquaracer automatic 41 mm as my primary diver but I ended up selling it in picking up a cyma quartz diver at a pawn shop for a steal at $70 and it is really well sized for skinny wrist and it looks really clean. It's the only quartz watch I wear outside of my Casio world timer
I have the Maen Hudson Mk 3 and I'm quite pleased with it. If you like the SKX013, consider looking at Long Island Watch's house brand, they have a variety of their Islander divers in 38mm.
Very good. I have small wrists but also enjoy having smaller watches anyway. No need for me to have a tremendous dial just to tell time. I believe that cases under 40mm are becoming a trend nowadays.
Amazing video. About the Islander 38mm... I own one and it has become my one watch collection for the past 4 months. Perfect everyday watch, it's built like a tank and it's way better looking than the SKX013. I had the opportunity to borrow a 013 a couple weeks ago and it feels cheap next to the Islander. It's a great alternative, and I would call it a homage but the 2.0 version that Seiko never delivered to its customers.
Agreed. For something under $300USD it kicks Seiko's 013 to the curb with hacking and hand winding. And because divers come with bezels, the actual dial size (as opposed to case size) makes it wear even smaller.
23:21 the bezel and hands and dial make me think 'inspired by the Benrus type 1', but a few things messed with to make it not TOOOO obvious. Cheaper to do hooded lugs and no crown guards...stick a lollypop seconds hand on, if we are going military then let's go sniper dial, etc, etc.
I bought this popular video watch from NKUWAN , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
a couple of months ago I purchased a Seiko turtle homage from aliexpress (Steeldive), 100 bucks and runs and looks really fine in my 6,5inch wrist. For that price having nh35,shappire cristal, ceramic bezel and an awesome lume that last the entire night is an awesome deal.
Awesome selection mate, this is exactly what I was looking for. The San Martin looks really impressive as does the seiko turtle. Really like the look of the RLG too. I wouldn't get another yema though despite liking them. Had too many issues with terrible customer services from them.
Your not the first one I've heard complain about Yema I'm thinking there made in China or Hong Kong and assembled in France, this includes there in-house movment . I've got nothing against China or Hong Kong but I don't appreciate being lied to . I'm thinking alot of these french brands do this .
To clarify, the Seizenn has an NH36, goodness knows how the SN typo made it's way onto the script lmao. Also, it's 'Carbonox' not 'Carbonex'.

Love your channel Ben, you feature interesting watch options and comparisons that I really don't see anywhere else - thanks !
I have a 6.7/8 (180mm) wrist and the best fitting watch I have is the Seiko SKX023J. J = Japanese market and it has a case size of 37mm with 45mm over lugs. I know they no longer make these but it's perfect for my wrist.
The seconds hand of my Scuba Dude was hypnotic in its smoothness.
This is you're best video yet thanks for this on behalf of the IBRC (small wrist) community.
Awesome video... Thanks for going through the pain of browsing hundreds of watches for us
I have the Odyssea and enjoy it.
Apparently if you ask nicely they will include them for free when you buy the watch.
17:34 if anyone knows, what TIMEX is that?
The shape of the case is really pleasing
Amphibian case 120, 420, and 710. And other good watch is Citizen NY2300. Thank you for your hard work !
I'm familiar with most of the brands you mentioned. You do a nice job of explaining your choices keeping it moving with a more open ended approach. Using price and originality as deciding factors. Good job.
my affordable diver would be Orient Kamasu. i got myself a JDM one ordered online. will get it probably this week
Excellent video my man, nice work!
Thank you so much for this - fantastic video, as with the other reviews of yours I have seen!
That intro XD
Also this was a great video. I'm absolutely going to check out some of these watches.
Brilliant video with very great options!
Great video Ben.
I would also like to add the Seiko Monster to the list. Despite the name, the short lug to lug length makes it good for smaller wrists. And they look freaking cool.
Plenty of good homages of them too.
Thanks for this video Ben, I loved the Wilhelm scream 👌
The seiko mini solar tunas are also surprisingly wearable considering their dimensions.
I'm sure you're aware of the Vostok range then, all mid sized 👍
Nice to see some amphibia love 💓
Glad you mentioned the Baltic Aquascaphe. Solid and lightweight despite on full bracelet.
The Glycine Combat is AMAZING! Slime, clean, real Sapphire, 200m+ WR, automatic. Its a 42mm, just the right size for normal wrist.
Another option that might be interesting, is the Apeks professional dive watch (female)
It may not be a well-known watch brand, but for actual diving they've got a great reputation.
The female model has 33mm diameter, 10mm depth on a 16mm strap.
The male model is a more standard size at 41/10.5/20mm
seiko VX42 quarz, 200m water resistance
The look does not seem an immediate copy of someone else, (at least that I can place) while being very much a diver.
Price-wise, they come in at about 150 euro or about 120GBP
Another fantastic and informative video! I have too many watches now and now i want even more! Cheers again Ben x
Someday, Timex will re-release the T29781 - a Sub-homage with an indiglo backlight.
Well, I can dream, can't I?.
Very interested in the Seestern 62mas, it's 38mm...
great video!! Im currently wearing the invicta , and I enjoyed seeing all the different options in the video! That San Martin is especially handsome
Superb video, Ben! Really appreciate all the research work this must have taken. It will be saved as a go-to resource whenever I feel the need to re-scratch the diver itch. Hmmm... I should probably reword that last phrase...
Thanks for pointing out the Lorus with the rotating bezel, their support told me today that none of their current kids watches have that feature now.
0:17 that was a solid head slap XD
I have the 420 case turquoise Vostok amphoia. I have had it regulated and put in on a beautiful chain link bracelet. I love it. As use in the film The Life Aquatic.
Very well curated, Ben! I like the unique case depth and look of the Marathon divers...very unique and cool!. However, the best find of this video for holiday giving is the Lorus Sports RRX89FX9...for a "cheap" watch it still looks very sharp and could be a fun gift for kids and adults alike!
Wow - applause for the amount of time and effort that obviously went into this one. 👍🏻
CWC divers have a super short lug to lug so fit well on my smaller wrist. Plus they have a ton of history and look amazing.
I liked the,
VARIO 1918 Trench 36.7mm.
with the caged-face-shield.
The San Martin is an amazing watch for most wrist sizes and they now have female end links available.
What a solid roundup!
I was able to get the Seiko SNE575 Solar diver for 25% off. Great watch at that price.
27 minutes of BWC, hell yeah brother
One of your most helpfull and best videos ever. Great Job👍
Just imagine how much better a place the world would be if Casio released a 38mm Duro in all of its color variants.
True 😭😭 @casio
I may have an 8 inch wrist but I sat and watched the entire video some very nice choices
That invicta is also available with an automatic movement.
I know this video took a lot of time and effort. Well done dude!!
a couple of months ago I purchased a Seiko turtle homage from aliexpress (Steeldive), 100 bucks and runs and looks really fine in my 6,5inch wrist. For that price having nh35,shappire cristal, ceramic bezel and an awesome lume that last the entire night is an awesome deal.
Interesting content. Enjoyed it. Keep up the good work on your channel. Regards, #WR4K
I don't even have a small wrist but this is a fantastic video Ben! Average wrist fellows like small watches too!!
Good info. Thanks so much. For some reason, watch designers think a dive watch has to look like a hudcap strapped to you wrist.
@@juniorjohnson5961 I honestly wouldn't be surprised by this if it were true
There's a Seiko solar diver with a 38.5mm case and sapphire crystal. I managed to get one for around 246$ at a local store. It's the SNE573.
You didn't watch to the end, did you?
@@PabloSanchez-qu6ib got me haha, was too busy and just wanted to leave a quick comment since this is a fairly new model :D
@@dylanolivermanuel yes, it happens to the best of us.
Great video Ben!! Thank you for the research!!!
Woah, I was just throwing on my Glycine Combat when you mentioned Glycine Combat Sub! 😁✌
