- Today, I’m calling out the 10 dumbest things you can do to your motorcycle. If you see yourself in any of these, don’t take it personally. Just fix it before your bike fixes itself… by breaking down in the middle of nowhere.

I've been riding for 50+ years and have had some serious "git-offs" as I was learning. The one thing that just drives me nuts is the guys in shorts, sandals, and no helmet. I NEVER ride without full protective gear.....no matter how hot it is....
Some people just wait for the test in order to learn the lesson
This backwards reasoning is so dangerous..
You don't ride in Asia. If it's 40 degree (over 100farenhiet) outside, you will be lucky to crack 40kilometers an hour and you just want a loaf of bread from the corner shop. If your wearing full gear for that ride you are the poster child for the next western safety brochure and I think you are close to certifiably insane.
You do realize that motorcycles are more dangerous than cars don't you? You are the sort of person who can be used to ban motorcycles from the roads. Safety is a bottomless pit, there is no such thing as too safe. If you want the freedom to ride, you should be standing up for the rights of lunatics to ride with singlets and slippers doing highway speeds. Otherwise you're just a useful idiot to people who want to ban things. Think about it, there is no logical reason a registration authority should allow people to ride an R1's on suburban roads.
I noticed every bike that went down breaking with the rear wheel instead of both in the front harder than the back are all on cruisers that should tell you something
A couple of points - duct tape to repair a fuel line is fine in an emergency and people should only ride a maximum of 25 miles a year so I can buy pristine 14 year old bikes with 8500 miles on the clock. It did more miles with me riding it home from where I bought it than in the previous 5 years.
#10 Fully customised with loads of chrome, but it never leaves the garage. That's your average Harley, isn't it? I joke, but it rings true for a few of my friend's Harley's.
It's summer here in Australia, and the number of people I see every year riding in T-shirt, shorts, and thongs (flip flops) is crazy. I don't wear a lot of gear, especially in summer because of the heat (mercury tipped 133F in the sun, and 112F in the shade the other week), but I'm at least covered from head to toe with lined and armoured motorcycle gear. Messed myself up enough times on a pushbike as a kid while in T-shirt, and shorts. Motorbikes are a lot faster than a pushbike, and I'm rather fond of my skin.
Saw a Harley rally once. All the bikes on traillers... But the owners wore all the gear!
Only one I disagree with is the neutral at the lights I always keep it in gear just in case I need to get out of the way quickly and unfortunately I’ve had to more than once because some idiot isn’t paying attention and comes in hot
That’s a fair point!
Anybody else notice that almost all the crashes were causd by the bikes coming up to other vehicles at crazy excessive speeds!! Good luck stopping the bike even with good braking technique!!! 😕
I haven't got 50 years riding experience... Only 40. I do some of the stuff in this video. Honesty I think that some people exaggerate everything otherwise they wouldn't have any material for their video. And why pick on the museum curators who are making sure I get a bargain on my next used bike?
40 years on two wheels, respect! Some myths stick around because they’ve ‘worked’ for some, but bikes (and tech) have changed. And hey, if museum curators want to baby their bikes, that just means better deals for the rest of us!
My 1985 Yamaha xj700 uses 10w40 I've been using Super Tech 10w40 for over 15 years with 0 issues.....Super Tech is actually decent oil and car oil made in 2025 is way better than any motorcycle oil made in 1985. So it's going to protect better.
I flushed the back brake on a 1998 yesterday it was red brown with solids...... I suspect a caliber kit is in my future. But hey that brake fluid lasted 27 years.
27 years? That fluid had a good run! A caliper rebuild might be next, but hey, you definitely got your money’s worth! 😂
Well said, could echo my own thoughts.
