On the 572nd birth anniversary of the great saint Srimanta Xänkärdev (Shankardev), I am sharing with you, this snippet from a film I am working on for past few years now! This is a glimpse of the enriching and warm chat with the maestro, Padma Vibhushan, Pandit Birju Maharaj ji, in context with the great musical works of the great saint!
This is a glimpse of a passion project that has been guiding me in the search of my roots and the culture that has made me. Even though this is still a Work In Progress, I wanted to share with all of you the special moments that I spent with a stalwart of Indian Classical Dance and Music , discussing about our Xatriya Dance, Borgeet and Assam. This is very close to my heart and I seek your blessings and good wishes to help me to continue this journey.

We are really very lucky that we have a gem like you papon da. We practice our cultural activities in our namghors / hatras a lot but we are failing in attracting our own people. Maximum of our new generation doesn't have any interest in our own culture , If people like u come forward dn i am pretty sure that now our culture is in safe hand. Please help us so that we can grow in this field and come forward to introduce this heritage culture infront of d world.
Khol is very popular in Bengal as well, although I could not recognize the dhun. Might just be my inexperienced ears.
