The canary thing.. you're close, the issue wasn't lack of air, it was too much poisonous gases, mainly methane or carbon monoxide which off-gas from coal. The bird dies first cause it's comparatively small and you have *some* time to leave before you also die.
Came here to say this. Interesting idea, people used to be so creative with the lack of technology.
People felt bad for the bird dying so they made updated cages with a closable hatch and a little oxygen tank so the bird could surivive it, there are pictures of them and they are amazing.
Also, it wasn't just the bird dying. Often it was enough that the bird would start freaking out because it could sense the bad air long before the humans could. Often they would still wait till the bird died, but it didn't HAVE to. :P
@@furgel7717 I've heard of that, I'm not clear how effective that was though... I'm not sure that the time from gases affecting the canary to the canary dying was necessarily long enough for this to work most of the time. There's also.. not many good sources of information about it. It's a nice thought though.
Edit: apparently canaries were tested early on as being most able to be revived, but it doesn't seem like there's data on how often this actually happened.
Completely normal. I'm Exile said it too, the moment you use alchemy orbs you are always on the edge of dying to BS.
Doesn't matter if you have 6k life, spell supp, spell block, attack block, block, high armour/evasion, leech. There is always at least one rare on the map with higher damage output than Uber shaper slam.
With the Affliction empowered mods, yeah, and on top of that, they're absolutely ridiculously tanky, so you take 5 minutes to kill one mob, and there's a very high chance of bad RNG happening in the meantime.
That final death was incredible. Got hit with the "Surprise Motherfucker."
That charge death at the end gave me PTSD from Gauntlet Roa deaths in Mud Flats. 🤣
PoE definitely should trace a string in chat on character death, telling what happened. Like "ZizWitch was slain by Ebontalon by critical strike!" or something similar
11:42 Was most likely because the monster had "Overwhelms physical damage reduction". Physical mods have shield spinning and it stands for both "Physical resist" and the "Overwhelm" so they would have a lot less physical resist against the mob
That last clip needs the Left for Dead hunter jingle and scream on it for maximum meme value.

learning from deaths is extremely helpful, but, unless you are familiar with every intricacy of the game, very hard to consistently analyse.
plus rip clips are entertaining just by themselves lol
The Alien07 guys death is total bs - 4kp, 3 endu charges, fortify, determination, banner in 68 white map... He should be able afk sit there and not care. Unless he was -60% chaos and this was a phys as extra chaos mod that critted. Still, absolutely crazy that he died like that.
The death was most likely because the mob had "Overwhelms physical damage reduction" mod on it. The spinning shield on the mob appears not only for "Physical resist" but also for "Overwhelm" mobs so I'm quite sure the mob simply nullified most of the physical damage reduction
These are fun i hope to see more of these.
TBH, 95% of the time I dont know what killed me, more of this would at least help me learn what's happening.
Ziz, for these kind of videos you need to learn the . , hotkeys that lets you go frame by frame in youtube :) Makes it much easier to go back and forward on the short quick things

I didn't record but it was kinda funny.
Ran a map from Kirac for completion. Can't remember map name, but it was one that loops around from the beginning. I stupidly did the League mechanic and then turned right. Ran into a Ghosted Double Empowered Yellow Beast with Soul Eater that kept spawning minions from the Ghost. So I ran away and turned the other way and there was another Ghosted Double Empowered Yellow Beast with Soul Eater that spawned minions.
That Nameless Beast charge one shot that guy. I made a Nameless beast one of my spectres, it pushes rares away from me and keeps me super safe.
if you have a softcore death and dont understand how you die...ziz thats me in ever map, its just to much in the screen for me half the time im fine, next moment im not ^^
That's why I really enjoy HC in this game. I used to be the exact same way, but every time you die or have a close call in HC you end up learning one more thing to be weary of. But it's mostly just because the RISK of death makes you play in a different state of mind than just pure turbo blasting.
@@KingJerbear i started in HC and got to about 700 hours( on steam) before switching to softcore and finishing a map for the first time xD so yeah for its not good to play HC, but believe me i love it and want to go back t some point, just not there yet
I don't play hc and i still get so mad , that i have to shut everything off and meditate for 30 min so i don't go out and murder someone. 2k hours in poe never had a character with less then a 100 deaths. I don't understand how anyone plays hardcore.
At 2k hrs i never had a character with less than 300+ deaths, even on 200 divine builds
I tried HC, beat maven deathless. Its just different play style. You dont run 2 proj extr damage crit maps on HC or even let alone 2 damage mods
The cultist in that Alien07 clip really woke up that day and chose violence
80% of my deaths in this league and last league is L.A.G . I saw my character just walking and my ping up from 20ms to 3000ms and ~40000ms, then I died. It look like GGG did not fix it at all. My internet is 300Mb package in the U.S.
skill issue
I've also had major lag issues the past couple weeks, just huge ping spikes out of nowhere to the point I had to quit the game multiple times and take a break. But I will say, a couple years ago during COVID, when I had a ton of free time to play, I lost like 6 characters in one League to random lag issues (similar to what I'm having now). I contacted my ISP, Got a new router, I tried just about everything possible to fix my connection, when I finally discovered it was my Ethernet cable. It ran perfectly 99.9% of the time, but would have intermittent fails that was enough to cut the connection for a millisecond. I replaced the cable and didn't have another RIP for the rest of that league. Just something to consider, even my cable that "tested good" was causing major issues.

@@KingJerbear I was in the computer networking field before, so I have some knowledge about ping and responding time. I checked my connect from pc to router about 1-2ms no drop on 1000 pings, and to poe server in my location about 20-25ms with no drop on 200-300 pings. Even last league I joined 5 ways service at 200ms ping but no LAG at all about 30-40 rounds. But now just a single yellow map and LAG at some point of the map.
I like this video. I'd love it more if you dove in a little deeper and looked at the actual monster attacks that kill people. I think looking at the monster entries in PoB can be really enlightening and teaches a lot about some of the underlying mechanics.
I'm not even risking the league mechanic in Rare maps. If I want to do it just for variety's sake, I play it on a bunch of blue white maps. And in maps with dangerous bosses I either do the Affliction dead last or just do the affliction and skip the boss. Heres hoping they nerf the crap out of Empower effects early next year. Empowered Cycling Resistances with Life Regen are almost always unkillable, I haven't skipped this many Rare monsters since Kalandra league.
This is a good idea for a video series. Really cool.
This is season of the 'don't do the seasonal mechanic unless you enjoy dying'

Definitely a lot more high level deaths in this league. Over the course of half an hour the other day I watched 3 number 1 deaths come across my screen
In the user submission, you can see that the mob is Yellow self-empowered and Magic.
I wanted to say ty for the guided play trough even tho i was playing a different class and following an other build it still helped me allot :) i am enjoying the game allot now im level 65 duelist (splitting steel) im atm doing magic find runns got as much magic find i could find. 😂😂

i have a question, i enjoy hardcore. i think. i might not. i dont enjoy getting back to the point i was. especially if i die like 12 hours in, and then 10 hours in on my way back.(right at the point builds start to get fun for me) do i just need more resolve or how do i fight this demotivation, (by far the least enjoyable part of the game to me is acts, the maji node made it a bit easier)
I would REALLY like to see an in-depth look at minion stats, especially their survivability... Thos league there are so many insane spectres and you have to buy/find a new corpse to summon them after they died, which can get really expensive (4div for some). That's why I'm basically neglecting my own characters stats to prevent my minions from dying (spectres and fully geared AG). My AG for example is at 6.8 million eHP right now but I'm thinking about switching items (Doppelganger Guise to Garb of the Ephemeral) which brings his eHP according to pob to 1.9 million and I have no clue if thats good or not. I never want to buy his stuff ever again!

When I'm lvling up and don't want to die and lose exp, run lower maps and STILL get one shotted ! WTH !!! Almost get lvled when this happens the most !
Every other game you can see the death slowly coming and the mistakes being made leading ultimately to the death... poe deaths people vanish into thin air instantly with 0 build up
yeah, seems this affliction league is a bit challenging. I rarely die in campaign. but because of this wildwood, I was very complacent and dies few times.
This league is definitely keeping everyone on their toes. I saw people in global chat saying "oh just stack armor, be over leveled, and you'll be fine." I don't think I have the video but I was level 42 in the affliction, act 4 kaoms stronghold, so maybe 8 levels higher, I was playing a very safe high defense high life regen build and I still ended up getting 1 shot. I will definitely need to look at the footage if Nvidia did capture it.

Highly suggest purity of elements for ailment immune too…
Also juicing zones with Act bosses is definitely a mistake a lot of people made lol
The game gets more rippy and less rewarding on the base level every league now since Ritual. Wish they would prune the top end and restore the alters/basic currency drop rate to what they used to be. But that would be more work. Easier to adjust one multiplier in the base formula then adjust all the uniques and stats.

You should review all your deaths since 2013
your first death, definitely you die from crit hit, not all of your bladefall poison enemies, those enemies appear later after the explosion and those projectiles hit your for sure
Review all my deaths, that would take a year !!! Getting killed from off screen and never knowing what it was, is my #1 problem !!!

I have lost 3 lots of end game gear to The Empowered monsters with like 15-20 div of crafted gear ngl I have already quit the league. did GGG even test this and if they did what builds were they using?
I play squishy bow but overall I only die to some bullshit rares and honestly on sc I found out that its more worth it to play alchgo instead of juiced maps for xp.
crit immunity is almost a must this league

I had the same death has Ben and they Pretty Much Totem DD a yellow mob that one shot you out of nowhere. Its stupid and dont deserve to be in game, Getting DD Offscreen from those Moving Totem is dumb

Moar! I've died 4 times this league, super rippy this time.
This game has serious problems, such as exploding bodies, mobs with many buffed mods, other alloy mods with absurd damage. None of these situations make sense. The game will only improve when these problems are resolved.
So.. to what did steel die to?

Well for experienced streamers and players, you're back to maps within 4 hrs or so. Back to 90+ the same day. So it's a loss, but not crazy. I wouldn't play HC if I didn't have plenty of time to play though. At a certain level of experience, the game is not challenging on softcore. There's a level of excitement knowing you could lose your char if you mess up.

Using a macro to avoid Loss of character is in my eyes and alot of other people's a way of cheating.. just accept the death and start over.. if you can't do that and need a macro then don't play hardcore. So lame. Can't wait for poe2 and removal of the macro shit
