The Best Ignition Upgrade for COP (Coil On Plug) | Diagnosing a Misfire

Were digging into the ignition system today to diagnose a misfire issue I was having. These are some of the steps I take to diagnose a misfire issue with efi. Its always a good idea to make sure the fuel system is functioning first, so we will test each fuel injector individually. If the fuel injectors are working we'll move onto the ignition system. I replaced my Mitsubishi mirage coils (cop) with Hitachi R35 coils from a Nissan GTR. The R35 coil is known to be one of the strongest and most reliable COP design, which are capable of producing 4 or 5X more spark energy than the factory coils. These are some great steps to follow whenever you diagnose a misfire.

Check the spark plug gap you may be getting spark blow out . I had the same issue with one of my Eagle talons . Wasn’t showing anything odd except the airflow readings where going all over the place whenever I went over a certain %tps at 30+ psi

Help in terms of power? Unfortunately not, this mod if for running high boost applications where the spark is being blown out
