    So I just got a job at O'Reilly Auto Parts, I've been there about a month and I come from having no experience with cars. Absolutely none but watching some of your videos I got to tell you this gives me hope for my job, lol thank you

      That's because you don't want the rotor's to turn the opposite direction

      The reason can be because these cars have the power/electric parking brakes

      @@mikep.473my 2015 Malibu doesn’t have power electric brakes. Nor does the Malibu in this video.

    You don't need to remove the bolt on that torsion bar, just use an 18mm wrench on that caliper bracket.

  • @Mark-zz9rt
    @Mark-zz9rt 10 місяців тому +2

    F.Y. I you do not have to remove the top suspension bolt to remove the caliper bracket, it will clear the bracket so you can remove it.

    10:40 thank you for this!!! A Buick I was working on was so dirty I couldn’t solve how to remove the hand break cable. On Hondas they slide out sideways. GM goes through a hole.

    Yeah i just did this today without removing that huge bolt and dis connecting the battery. This is solid information tho.

    2 unnecessary steps:
    #1 - disconnecting the battery
    #2 - removing the torsion bar bolt

    Been trying to get the long bolt to break loose. Broke one wrench so far. Thought about heating the nut up but afraid it will melt the robber boot the nut rides in.

      Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community.
      Any update…?…we are here to help. Heating it may unfortunately melt boot as you mentioned. Have you tried using an impact wrench that applies jolting to bolt? Below is a link to our video tutorial on our impact gun.

    Does it matter what type of break pad and rotors, if it's an electronic parking break or push parking break?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching, we recommend the ceramic pads, as they are cleaner and don’t leave that dark stain like the cheap pads do.

    Question.. if we only replaced the rear calipers on our 2015 malibu do we need to bleed all 4 brakes??

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching, great question. As long as you don’t allow fluid to leak out of rear brake lines to a point where it allows air into system upstream, you should be able to just bleed rear brakes.
      Please keep us posted. 👍🧰

    If my caliper is good, can I leave the top bolt attached and swing it up out of the way to get the rotor off or would I have to remove it to pull the rotor?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders

      Thanks for watching, that will be personal preference. If you have the clearance and can raise caliper without damaging it, that’s a great idea.
