I swear to Christ I played this song in Watchdogs whenever I could, like 99% of the time while driving, freerunning etc. this was playing. The best part is it never got old for me. I finished the game and I'm still listening to this on a regular basis, for motivation, for whatever, I play this. Just a damn masterpiece and it fits so well with Watchdogs, Aiden and what happens in that game, at least for me, so yeah, an awesome piece of music.
this song is very touching to be honest. it is about Katrina and the death, destruction and despair it caused. it also talks about the horrible oil spills that devastated the gulf.
Mitch Rice Thank you! The first pre-chorus made me think of Katrina but I wasn’t sure if that was the inspiration behind those lyrics. And “five thousand feet below, / as black smoke engulfs the sky, / the ocean floor explodes, / eleven mothers cry” is obviously referring to a major oil spill. I am assuming that is referring to the BP oil spill? It’s definitely referring to a major oil rig disaster. “One by land two by sea” But no Paul Revere came
No shit. It either touches you or it doesn't. Ta hell with what moment. If it truly strikes a chord in your heart then it never leaves, regaurdless the situation its first strike is marked by.
This song has a lot of meaning to me I was being raped and abused from the time I was four until I was ten and right before I got out I was beaten for two hours straight broke three ribs, my right collar bone and my leg and I had a concussion I heard this right before that happened and I thought no help would ever come. This song gave me hope tho I never heard the end of it that day it was a positive message that helped me it gave me reason to keep breathing and survive when without I probably would have given up so thank you rise against you saved my life

If you can, please donate blood, food, or supplies to any local donation shelter or place of that nature. Due to restrictions of links here, please search on Google for any available ways to donate. Thank you all.
I just returned home after spending a week down there. Such a tragedy but I got to admit, as bad as it was...the people of the community I was fortunate to meet took this very well. Much better than I would've. Very strong people.
Yes bother this music takes me back to when I still saw innocence in the world (not trying to sound edgy even though I know thats how it comes off lol) oh what I would give to get those days back
If I understood the song correctly, that is powerful. It sounds like a middle eastern country that asked someone more powerful to help them during a civil war, and think they will because of the "black gold", or oil found in their borders. They are constantly reassured that help is on the way, but in fact their cry for help is ignored while the superpowers of the world fight over such small things.
It's a nice personal understanding, but Tim himself said it's about the desolation by Hurricane Katrina and how the govermenment took long to send disaster relief, supplies, all that. Still, I think they dedicated it once to the people affected by the 2011 tsunami/earthquake in Japan, so the meaning more of less can be applied to any disaster and how it feels on a personal scale to be affected by them. That's what I like about RA and it's specially demonstrated in this song. Tim has such a awesome raspy voice that manages to convey perfectly the emotional attachment he has with his great lyrics and what it talks about, so it all feels very sincere, almost like he actually witnessed the things he narrates. It gives the listener - or at least it's what I do - room to "pretend" you are there, which helps you feel compassionate and understanding about the problems Rise Against sing about.
@@u9477 Yeah he probably was or at least the surrounding area. First stanza talks about the crescent city sleeping as dragons in the sky unleash a mighty cry. Both stanzas refer to gulf disasters. Katrina and Deepwater Horizon

If you really think about it enough, this song is about how when people cry out for help, whether it be a natural disaster or anything horrible, no one is really there to help. We scream and scream out for help, but when they finally show, its already too late. This song fits perfectly with Watch Dogs (which I will admit was the first time I heard this song from them), but since the people in the game look to advanced security systems to protect them and their information without having to worry and when something does happen, they go into shock and see that they weren't protected and Aiden Pierce aka The Fox or The Vigilante is the one who has to do the protecting. He knows what it felt like to lose someone near and dear to him and he couldn't rely on the authorities to help, so he turned to his skills to help him and anyone he sees might need help.

This song hits home. I'm from Louisiana. Its about the 2005 Katrina Hurricane and all its destruction. Its great that they put it in a game but a lot of people know it otherwise. Samantha Arnold it's definitely nice to see someone who understands the meaning behind this song, aside from everyone else who state they enjoy playing a game while listening to this, whilst not even knowing what it means.
I've played the game while listening to this song and I never understood what it really meant, didn't oil fields explode during the hurricane because the song said in it, "5,000 feet below as black smoke engulfs the sky, the ocean floor explodes, 11 mothers cry" and "Choking on the black gold, upon which we rely."

No idea why people complain about finding this song in a video game and go as far to assume video games are mindless. Everyone has their own game preference and some are a little less though provoking than others, but there are a lot of games out there with many artistic design and story telling that can invoke emotion, different means of thinking and understanding, aiming for those that play them to gain insight to many controversial subjects. You can get some what similar experience from reading a book or watching a movie, just have to find the good stuff that speaks to you.
This song is just awesomeness . This being in Watch Dogs is equally awesome , I like picturing myself saving the city with my hacking abilities with this song playing in background XD LOL
I like this I also found this song on watchdogs but guys stop fighting about it it's a really strong song it sends a strong and powerful message that's my input
Absolutely, it is very literal too. I know people who actually did keep axes in the attics for the very reason of a storm coming to New Orleans and flooding the city. The cameras in the sky is a powerful statement, because what that basically means is that families were waiting and pleading to be rescued but all it was were helicopters with cameras on them filming the destruction Katrina caused. Glad someone understands the meaning, as a New Orleans native myself, this song brings back sooo many bad memories instantly.
Watch_Dogs has really done a number on people. I know people who absolutely hate rock and once they play Watch_Dogs they jam out and end up downloading the song >>>>for example this song right here! Thank you Ubisoft for indirectly recommending amazing music to people.
I don't know or care what this stupid "Watch Dogs playing in mud" crap is, but I came here because I enjoy good, powerful music. I doubt any of these gamer no-lives have a single clue what the song is about or what actually happened/ is still happening. Put down your "joy-stick" and learn...
Bailey Sanders First, "Jesus"..? I can't take you seriously, and no one should. Second, I don't listen to Rise Against, I listen to good music as a whole, as I stated. I search for music with meaning, not like these kids that just play mindless video games all day and continue the ignorance of their poor people for another generation. Don't bitch at me because you have nothing better to do with your time...
TheSkittles1001 I don't see what you're upset about. I like this song, and I'll be honest about the fact that I came here because of Watch Dogs. It's a fun game with great music. Sure, I get that there's a deeper meaning to this song, as is the case with most songs. But let's just enjoy good music and not give a fuck where we heard it from :)
Klpire123 It annoys me that music has to be heard from a damn game. People don't just search for powerful songs anymore, no one tries to better themselves. That is why I'm "upset".
+Michael Kolman For me it's gotta be Make It Stop. I mean, the lyrics in basically all of Rise Against's songs are incredibly powerful & awe-inspiring, but for me, Make It Stop takes it a notch further.
This band is from Chicago which is where Watch Dogs take place. In fact, ALL of the bands in the game are from Chicago. No joke.

This song is so amazing ! *-*
they say that because I'm a gamer, I don't have a life. They're wrong. I have 100 lives.
This whole album is basically a theme track for Mistborn.
Holding out for that Misborn movie. 2085 cant come soon enough e....e
Idk why but I'm getting mcr vibes from the instrumentals
This song is just awesomeness . This being in Watch Dogs is equally awesome , I like picturing myself saving the city with my hacking abilities with this song playing in background XD LOL
I like this I also found this song on watchdogs but guys stop fighting about it it's a really strong song it sends a strong and powerful message that's my input
The game series sucks.
"We keep axes in the attics to see cameras in the sky" that's possibly the deepest part of the song. Dang.
Glad someone understands the meaning, as a New Orleans native myself, this song brings back sooo many bad memories instantly.
i heard this song from WATCH DOGS very good song
Watch_Dogs has really done a number on people.
I know people who absolutely hate rock and once they play Watch_Dogs they jam out and end up downloading the song >>>>for example this song right here!
Thank you Ubisoft for indirectly recommending amazing music to people.
We keep axes in the attics, to see cameras in the sky...
Damn they were helpless and we let them down.
No Shift 2 Unleashed
My favorite puck rock song
I don't know or care what this stupid "Watch Dogs playing in mud" crap is, but I came here because I enjoy good, powerful music. I doubt any of these gamer no-lives have a single clue what the song is about or what actually happened/ is still happening. Put down your "joy-stick" and learn...
Who cares its a song people enjoy because they haven't heard of them before jesus praise this guy because he listens to rise against
Bailey Sanders
First, "Jesus"..?
Klpire123
It annoys me that music has to be heard from a damn game. People don't just search for powerful songs anymore, no one tries to better themselves. That is why I'm "upset".
TheSkittles1001 So because I heard this song from a video game, you assume I'm not taking any steps to better myself. Solid logic, there.
A video with 109 like and no dislikes? Congrats! ^_^
Imagine your home is caught in rage of war. And all you can do is believe help will come, help is on the way, that hope all you have. Then its broken
What’s crazy is I don’t see any haters, just people complaining about “haters.”
People heard of this through a video game and I heard of it from WWE 😂😂😂
WWE TLC 2015 THEME SONG 0:40 PM
Dirt Showdown brought me here!
same for me!
This might be my favorite song of theirs
+Michael Kolman For me it's gotta be Make It Stop. I mean, the lyrics in basically all of Rise Against's songs are incredibly powerful & awe-inspiring, but for me, Make It Stop takes it a notch further.
i like savior by these guys a lot
Heard this song in Watch_Dogs, fucking awesome!!! :D
