Nice how they packaged it so securely to prevent damage in transit.
Ikr!!
I was wondering if he did this himself just to have a video I don’t know why Someone would do this on purpose
Lmao 😂
Yes, it's highly ironic
@David Morales good point :O
my theory: the butterfly keyboard pissed the owner off one too many times and they decided to take revenge
YA 😂😂
Yep
Get out the chainsaw
😂😂😂😂😂😂
lmao maybe
Brings a whole new meaning to cutting edge.
so true
Lol
Genius bar: I’m sorry, but I don’t think we can fix your antenna because it’s on the inside.
Luke: I willingly bought a Macbook that has been cut in half and made it work
My guess as to how this happened? A disgruntled spouse or significant other taking revenge. They just didn’t realize they came short of destroying the whole computer.
Yet in their rage, they still thought to remove the battery.
@@spnvidz3265 You never know.
@@spnvidz3265 If they were doing this in revenge, failing to remove the battery would have resulted in instant karma.
@@glen4cindy oh I’m not saying you’re wrong-just that it was calculated. I actually wondered about a vengeful ex while I was watching. :)

Never seen a product in worse condition shipped with such quality packaging LOL

My theory : The owner got attacked by samurai sword wielder... the Macbook Pro saved his/her life.
Sora face me
If Luke was one of those third party repair shops without being Apple Certified I would still pay him to repair on of my devices even if it would void my warranty
UA-camr: Makes droptest with a macbook
Luke Miani: No problem, I'll repair it.
I don’t think anyone else expect what’s inside would do this
I think I could drop a macbook from an airplane and it wouldn't look as bad as this one
luke miani:IT WORKS NOW AND IS FULLY FUNCTIONING
A drop test onto a table saw
Finally restoration content. Really miss this
It's like two siblings were going to share 1 MacBook by cutting in half😂
why can i see this happening with my brother...
At this rate they'll be cutting themselves and feeding each other soon
uhhh

Must be the MacBook model Apple sell in Middle East countries
Can I get a free macbook 😥😥😥

That they went in and removed the battery before sawing it indicates it was probably an institution (school, government, hospital etc.) that wanted to dispose of them and not resell them. They were not smart enough however to destroy the SSD which is really the only thing that needs to be destroyed to prevent data recovery.
@@Black-Circle Some places are not allowed to resell computers due to grant rules etc.. My guess is that this was the case, they removed the battery to avoid an explosion and tried to destroy the computer by sawing before sending it to a recycler. I suspect this was recovered from a recycler and then sold.
@@Black-Circle I agree. Having worked in bureaucracies this is fairly common. Sometimes the procedures required to resell computers and other stuff is just too onerous to partake in.
I’m sure it’s from a youtuber. I remember a video when they did it
Why not just remove the SSD, or at least clean erase it?
@@richardcarlson127 Man, that just sucks. :/
because of how many of the MacBooks he fixed before, He has reached the point that I'm not even surprised if the MacBook he received has bullet holes in, dropped way too many times, and even being dipped in lava, and still manages to fix it!
I have the same one at home, it have 3 shotgun holes in the display, & 5 at the top of the bottom case & at the palm rest where the trackpad is.
Even the trackpad is cracked as hell from a shotgun hole - but i simply conneted it to my thunderbolt display with an adapter & use it every day😂
All keys, the trackpad & even wifi,speakers,... works... i plan to dissasamble the display, then i have a keyboard and a trackpad with an built-in computer😂
The problem is not repairing it, it's getting the parts that is hard. On ebay, screens go almost as much as for a new MacBook
Seeing this on my dear Macbook Pro... Man I felt the pain!
Yes I had to calm mine down. It's very sensitive.
Luke I totally agree with you regarding sawing a MacBook Pro. But thankfully you were there to make what looked like an impossible task into something that at least now works. I really enjoy all your videos and look forward to always seeing what’s next. Thank you!
That poor MacBook Pro oh my goodness that broke my heart this video will definitely get over a million views watching the whole repair process was so cool
Luke: I love how there are little compartments for screws in this lid
Also Luke: I'm just going to leave these tiny screws in a pile on my desk :D
Yeah them butterfly keyboards must of screwed him off
So much that he kept em
A man after my own heart, although I do have a magnetised whiteboard and I draw little dividers when I can be bothered.
I have worked and saved many months to be able to buy my first MacBook so I take extreme caution and treat it with love. this made my blood boil seeing the condition the laptop was in. clearly caused by someone who has money to waste and absolute moron for taking their anger out on a machine.
Agreed💯
My guess is it was supposed to be a way of destroying a computer before getting rid of it. I wonder when Luke will start welding the cases back together.
Solder Soldier!
I think some guy bought this right before the m1 came out, and got mad!
I have been building and repairing computers since 1982 and this was the most interesting ever!!! Most damages are accidental but for this the person had to be pretty upset (maybe at someone else eh?). Great job Luke. Love watching your videos. Thanks!
They must have seen the MacBook Air leak and said "well this is useless now"
*looks at thumbnail*
Me: THAT'S ALOT OF DAMAGE
Every time that I see a broken MacBook on UA-cam, it just surprises me of how it was broken. This did not disappoint. Thanks, Luke!

That was amazing Luke!

JerryRigEverything is behind all this.
Holy shit! I saw this only 1 min after it dropped 🤯
You saw the sawed MacBook video 😏
@@teknobuddie2612 What do you mean? This is that video.
That was a joke "you 'saw' the SAWed MacBook video"
@@PenguinYayOne sorry my bad im gonna delete that
I have absolutely no guesses on a how this MacBook got sawed this badly, but it's incredible that you still managed to get it working again. Keep up the good work Luke!
Truly amazing work Luke! its absolutely incredible that our devices can even survive such cruel violent treatment - and THANK YOU for showing that this is not necessarily a reason for buying a new device
1:15 even i see you through a screen 😂😂😂👍
To show you the power of Flex Tape, I sawed this MacBook in half!
That's impressive Luke. Good stuff!
Wow amazing repair. I hope it continues to be reliable. The logic board might straighten its self out just by the new case.
I love your repair videos. As for the saw used, Im sure it's not a table saw and most likely a Hack Saw. A table saw would have left a much wider saw kerf and there's no way I'd do that on my table saw, blades are to expensive, and I don't even want to think about what would happen as I feed that into the blade. Think terrifying.
What do I think happened to it? My guess is that someone (who wasn't vey tech literate) wanted to destroy data on it, like how you would shred a sensitive document, before realizing half way through that doing so would be incredibly messy and difficult. Or maybe they thought having cut half way through would have been enough to kill it.
Wow,Luke.Love your content and positivity!Thank you very much.

That is an excellent theory.

"I can see you guys through the screen"
Someone who doesn't pay any attention: what? A transparent screen on a MacBook?
I love how smoothly the hinge still works though lol
I think it's belong to a Japanese chef left the MacBook under a blue tuna fish before cutting it in half. Busy day at work it happens
Very cool video. I love your aesthetic with the warm lighting. What's the wallpaper you're using on the finished MacBook?
This wallpaper is found on macOS. If you don’t have it, there’s a person with all Mac wallpapers ever in a Google Photos folder, try searching for it on Google.

@@nathankean7968 you can start by looking for broken MacBooks on ebay
How do you keep track of which screws came from where? Do you label each set? And where can you buy replacement case parts?
iFixit sells the replacement parts, as well as a magnetic project mat that’s mapped for different screws
I have watched this video several times and the reactions to the fact that it still booted and such is still hilarious lol
Luke, THANK YOU! I was just about to saw my MacBook in half to share it with a friend, but THANKFULLY you kept me from doing it 🤣🤣🤣! Great video, and I agree with all the couple-trouble-theories 😉…
I can certainly imagine reasons to destroy a laptop - sensitive data, proprietary documents, or just someone with a lot of money and anger management issues - but then why would they turn around and sell it? I'm guessing the laptop was trash picked, so you have the destroyer, and the salvager as two different people.
With any commun sense anyone will know that to destroy the datas you need to destroy the SSDs
It seems like it’ll be 50k but Man U deserve the 1 mil
The small Y shaped bit you held up from the ifixit kit is for screwing cup hooks in with a battery drill.
Luke, you make me wanna fix a MacBook :) I have watched a lot of your videos and learned a lot about Apple products. Thanks for the quality content. All the best..
I feel like Luke just sawed the "wishbook pro" in half and repaired it for some content 😂
Edit: I do believe this is actually what he did, I think this mostly because he 1. didn't show the listing he mention and 2. when he opened the package he said " I need to order some parts " insinuating that he hadn't ordered them, cut forward a few days when he gets the parts he is still wearing the same shirt and outfit he had on when he filmed the opening, usually in his videos when he cuts forward time he is wearing something different, 3. Who would take the battery out just to saw it in half it takes a LOT of experience to take batteries out of the 2016-2017 Macbook pros, THEORY SOLVED
This is awesome! Please don't stop filming this kind of videos, subscribers have got your back for buying parts man
watching this on a 2015 macbook pro with a previously bent logic board 😂
The look on my face when the charging noise actuated and then the apple logo came on was beyond amazed, that’s honestly mind blowing that that thing still works
I came across a youtuber named techrax who destroys stuff like this. This probably belonged to him or something. I cannot imagine how that is even possible.
In the old days a Rage Pro was a video card, now I wonder if that applies to the previous owner's anger management issues?
Great videos as always!
Woodshop class. Some one had their Laptop with them for other classes. Set it down near the ban saw. Someone bumped the laptop and it sawed right through the device before someone was able to pull it out.
Niceee, its a good day when Luke uploads!
I’ve been waiting for this video 😳
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Pretty Straight Cut I Would Say That Someone Used A Table Saw. I Don't Know Why Someone Would Do That But When I Saw You Take It Out Of The Box I Did Not Give It Much Hope. Great Job Luke
My theory is the couple decided to break up and they bought this macbook with their money so they decided to cut this in half for each one of them but while cutting, they felt that they still love each other so they stopped cutting it and they live happily ever after.
Plot twist: He did this on purpose just to show us he can fix anything
this should be an ad for the new macbook, the slogan should be: Macbook Pro, we survive the chainssaw
Wow!, you really do good on the cinematic camera rolls GReat job! 12:29
Luke as a Karen: “ExCusE mE”
A miracle that it's still working!
I got that fixit kit and I love it so much. too bad someone stole the small screwdriver from me so I have to use the adapter for the big screwdriver but maan I have been able to fix stuff with it alone.
I really do love this channel. You do some funny vids!!
When Luke said “No!”, his expression yelled out “YES!”
Did he mention the year and specs of the SawBook Pro? I may have missed it.
The best part about your videos is that sick ass LoFi and Boom Bap background music!
This is so rewarding! a lucky shot, indeed!
My idea how this happened is: "Hey, I bet you can not saw your MacBook in half."
"What do I get, if I do so?"
"50$"
"Okay, hold my beer"
Thats actually painful to watch but also inspirational! kinda like one of those vids where someone shows an abused puppy on the verge of dying who is taken in, given love and care and then looks great in the end..Lucky the dude who went saw crazy on that thing stopped just short of cutting thru the logic board...
i feel like the repaired final version would be something that you find on eBay saying *BRAND NEW, NEVER USED, ORIGINAL BOX* or some bs
Wow, it's kinda amazing how much logic boards can take before they die
Once again. This is so satisfying
The condition of the laptop reminded me of the couch 🛋 that Ross from FRIENDS tried to return after it was “cut in half”!!! He ended up accepting $5 store credit for it 🤣
HE WAS ON A BREAK!!!!
PIVOT!
There is one step I would have added in the repair. i would have removed the heatsink, bend it normally and also remove the bended shield on the bottom of the logicboard and look at the logic board with my microscope to see if the bend can ruin any traces. Then I would install it once I feel good about it.
I think Plainrock124 was Bored Smashing this, but failed to do so and threw it in the scrap and then Luke Miani saved it from being recycled and tried to repair it. Seems like a good theory.
Yes!
Watching u repair stuff made me want to do something so i started going thru my stuff and managed to make a working surface pro 2 😂 that works but has no ssd
Always wondered where JerryRigEverything’s stuff ends up. Great to know that it is the same place we mortals send our junk….good ‘ol Ebay.
for future unbending of logic boards, i would recommend a heat gun on a good temperature for maybe make the bend a bit more seamless then a 99/1 thing.
The SawBook Pro: I want to play a game.
Luke: Fine, just give me an ifixit kit I'll play along.
Any tips on where to buy older MacBook batteries from? I have an old 2009 model I would like to revive, but because you can no longer get the official battery for it, I have no idea where to get the new battery from....
Congrats on graduating!!!!
Y shape tool you asked about is for curtain hoops screws or variation of the teacup hook, you get the picture.
given the logic board works, you could just take it out, use one of those usc c to hdmi and usb 3.0 dongles and just use it as a desktop may plugged in all the time, may be 3d print a case for the logic board so that you can mount behind a monitor probably
Pretty well done luke
Even though the keyboard is dead, the keys can be use for other MacBooks that have missing keys. You should have replace the heat pipe because that is most likely what's keeping the PCB bent.
you did it , well done Luke , you are the best love you'r Chanel ;-)
hi, whats that nice soundtrack during the repair? really smooth
