It's all about money. When China was poor, it used its collective power to focus money on specific sports. Now that China is rich, it is starting to challenge Western athletes in some sports that require a lot of money. When India becomes rich, it will naturally win more medals.

I hope India will follow China's step in Sport. We heard many accusation against China from the Western media, but China just ignored them. There are so many video about China's reckless Olympic program like athletes farming etc produced by Westerners to justified their thought. They did the same thing against their arch enemy Russia.
The westerners want to market themselves as the poster athletes so all the endorsements and revenue go to them. Sports team owners and majority of fans cannot accept Asians as being the poster athletes. This is my belief and I’m sticking to it. Here in the United States, 99% of the people on television are either black or white and that includes celebrities. You ask any person in America to name 10 Asian celebrities, they wouldn’t know. Not even an Asian American can name 10 famous celebrities. The only people that Americans can name are Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

Not just boxing, China performed very well 😊in this Olympic with 40 golds (same as America’s 40 golds), but over all medal counts, the US is still on top, China is only #2. Too bad that India did poorly(as usual), no gold medal. South East Asia power house Vietnam was even worse, got no medal (zero), Japan did quite well, but a country that impressed me most is New Zealnd, with a population of only 5 million but won 10 gold medals.
