I remember the winter of 2013-2014 as clearly as if it were yesterday. That time Ukrainians rose up as a whole nation and spoke out against tyranny and the usurpation of power. We were full of hopes for better future and believed that the civilized world sees everything and shows everything to its people. And how sad it is to understand now that these events were tightly filtered by the media. And our potential friends from other countries had no idea what kind of evil the Ukrainians were fighting. Maybe something will change now. Hope so
Thank you for your wonderful reactions, your understanding and your honesty, dear Momo. Hugs from Ukraine

I have repeatedly met the words of journalists or photographers that modern media strictly filter information. Sometimes not with malicious intent. For example, it is not possible to put images of dead people or torture in a video or magazine. Therefore, a huge amount of visual material from the 2022 war simply does not reach the general public. The media does not want their material to trigger people, but as a result, society does not understand the level of violence Ukraine faces. That is why the words of politicians appear about possible negotiations with Putin, about the need to save his face, give Russia part of the territory of Ukraine, and so on. Hiding violence distorts reality.

The name of the song means it was released when Ukraine celebrated 22 years of restored independence in 2013. And the visuals are from Revolution of Dignity from November 2013 till February 2014.

Thank you thank you thank you for the reaction!!!
It was the "revolution of Dignity" - this is its name, in 2014, Kyiv is shown on the video. The goal of the revolution is to free itself from the slavery. Ukraine existed as a power before the USSR, but during the Soviet era, the territories of Ukraine, with all the people, were completely enslaved by the communist authorities in the USSR. In 1991, people were freed from the slavery of the USSR, there was a law allowing this to be done, but Russia inherited the policy and ideology of the USSR - this is a policy of enslavement and plunder of peoples. Putin wanted to return Ukraine to his possessions. He paid for the Party of Regions in Ukraine. People voted for freedom in elections and European integration, and the way to join the European Union, but the main thing is not the European Union, the main thing is simply freedom. Yanukovych, the president paid by Putin, Putin did not hide in an interview that it was his president who did not sign the association agreement with the European Union and people immediately took to the streets. The president bought by Putin wanted to sign an association agreement with Russia, and went to Russia. People were against it, because the president's election slogans promised European integration. People came out against corruption, for fair trials, people wanted the country to be ruled by law and not by thieves like in Russia. In one day, when the students were rallying, they were dispersed by the police, breaking their bodies to the point of blood, people all got angry and the next day there was a "march of millions" in the center of Kyiv. Then people rallied for four months, in the cold in winter, there was always someone at the rally. Then Putin sent his security forces and they shot more than a hundred people in the center of Kyiv. Now these dead people are called "Heavenly Hundred". Then Putin realized that Ukraine did not want to go to Russia and launched a military offensive in the East of Ukraine. The whole point is the enslavement of some peoples by others (. Someone wants to live honestly, and someone wants to steal and occupy the land.

I am so grateful to you for your thoughtful attention to the culture of my country. For centuries we have been hidden from the world under a Russian cap. The Russians have appropriated our history, our songs, our lands and our right to be ourselves. They inspired the whole world that we do not exist. But we are and have always been - now we are Ukraine.

I remembered time of Maidan, fusillades of innocent peaceful people who came to protest against beating of students by S.W.A.T. called Berkut, and very sad song called “Plyve kacha po Tysyni”. It became our funeral song saying good bye to our heroes. These brave people used only wooden shields and pavement to protect themselves from bullets. Oh my God, I cried so much hearing melody of this song. It was hurt to see for me those events. That’s why I wasn’t able not to comment this review. Now I’m sure we held on that time so we will stand further to our victory. Thank you American people for help and armament.

I remember those days... It was really fool of emotional contrasts period. I'll never forget my 2014.
I saw students, they were singing ukrainian songs to each other, just hugs, so peaceful and so full of hope for better future, with EU and ukrainian flags together... And special police equipped soldiers on another side of the square. At about hundred of soldiers against a few young students. Both, students and policemen were just opposite each other. I don't know why I cried, may be something tragical was in cold autumn air that evening. I went home a half an hour before bloody fight, before those students were almost killed by police. I could be one of them. Policemen were hunting those students in dark streets, a lot of blood, a lot of pain. It was late evening of friday.
Next day, it saw in the internet horror videos of those 'hunting'. I was shocked, and I didn't want to stay home, few phone calls to friends, we all had same feelings - protest and unity. It was a little scary first, to go to the main square, but when all people in metro started to sing ukrainian hymn together, it was amazing! We were all like one. So powerful! There were really millions of people on the square. It was a manifest of non-obedience, our patient broke, we realized that the government controlled by Russia does not respect our rights and our lives. But we were ready to stand until the end. Neither bullets, nor frost, nothing was stronger than our will. I first saw how many of us are like-minded, brave, proud, determined, so different, but kindred in spirit. The most beautiful emotions I've ever felt. Very powerful. Someone pitched tents and spent the night, despite the approach of winter and frost. Others brought them food, warm things. Everyone shared what they could. I came almost every evening. We demanded that the guilty police officers be punished for the atrocity. But the government did not want to hear us.
There was a threat that I would be fired from my job for participating in the protest. But it was more important for me to defend honor and human rights than to keep my job. What difference does it make if you have a job, if you have no rights, if you can be killed by an executioner in uniform for your citizenship, if the law means nothing, if you are nobody, your opinion is worth nothing.
Many independent journalists and public figures were abducted, tortured, and the bodies of some were found dead with traces of torture. But it only made us angry, no one broke down, no one was scared. We only became more determined, and began to prepare defense. The criminal government, meanwhile, brought in more and more police and thugs to surround the main square.
The tension was rising. But, I remember, I felt safe only on the square, when there were a lot of us. It was dangerous everywhere, except Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the main square of our capital. Because there was the heart of the people, there was the soul. There was warmth from solidarity.
The name of February in Ukrainian is related to the climate, the worst frosts in winter, usually in February, sometimes up to -30°C. The month of February comes from the word "fury" in our language. It was the fiercest February, in every sense. Sleeping in tents in the freezing cold on the asphalt, anti-humanist laws, terror and intimidation, brutal murders of demonstrators, clashes... The smell of burning tires in the frosty air is also something that cannot be forgotten. The smell of will and heroic struggle for justice. The "Heavenly Hundred" gave their lives to save our lives, the lives of others, to protect people from the criminal government, from armed special forces. They walked unarmed, covering each other with their bodies. Words that now have even more meaning: "Heroes never die." No, they don't die, they become our angels. And they, all of us, won. To win again. To finally defeat the cause of evil, the Kremlin's dirty and bloody empire of evil. I know we can, I know we will. And I felt same unity when people in their cities around the world came out to support Ukraine. There are many of us together, we are invincible in our unity. The main thing is to trust the soul, it will never let you believe in lie. This war is a hybrid one, and Russia has been waging it for a very long time. The Russians spend missiles on us, and fabulous money on lies on everyone. Russia promotes lie about the events of the 2014 Revolution of Dignity, about the 2022 war, about it's own history, about the history of Ukraine. Lies, atrocities and murders are the essence of Russia. But the truth, love and unity of the united world must win, once and for all.
The war is not about Ukraine and the territories. This war is about the future and destiny of mankind. Ukraine is simply fighting for universal values, and we'll win, because we won before. Now we have allies. Like on the Maidan, if everyone does what they can, we will win. We should never give up, all the 🌍🌎
Thank you for your reaction and your work 💛💙

After revolution of Dignity pro-russian armed meetings was trying to overthrow the government in many sities using unstable situation. So that way Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk was occupated by russia.

Thank you for your reaction! In our modern world we tend to forget that every freedom, every equality, every independence we have now as individuals, as nations, as genders, as races - these luxuries weren't available to everyone before us. Every single freedom we have now has been fought for, and someone paid the highest price for it. We have this illusion about our world being civilized, and we no longer need to fight for our rights. But the truth is we can' put down our guards, we have to stand up for what's right, we need to help those who fight for democratic values! Friends, please help Urkaine to fight the worse nightmare of our time! Stand with Ukraine! 💙💛💙💛💙💛

Perhaps, one day you will be able to visit Kyiv, take a walk along Khreshchatyk, see Alley of the Nebesnaya Sotna, see in person part of what was happening on the video. Unfortunately, every country has historical periods and individual persons - for whom it is very shameful. Ex-president Yanukovych is just like that. If he had not been elected in 2011, it seems that today's war might not have happened.
And in my opinion, the clip shows very clearly the power of one person. If you are alone, you are not enough, but if there are a hundred or a thousand of such units, then together you are a force. 💪
This is exactly what our nation is capable of - uniting when we've been kicked in the ass.😁

Thank you for being interested enough to learn more about our country and our people through the music. The song and the video footage reference the events of Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. The protests started in late November, and when the government gave the order to beat up the protesting students, people from all over the country went to Kyiv and protested in their own cities, since all tickets to Kyiv were bought out in a few hours after the news broke. It quickly became a protest of the entire nation, demanding for the Pro-Russian government to step down since they broke their promise, and refused to sign a deal with the EU. Long story short, these were brutal months, where more than a hundert people were killed on the order of the government. We call them the Heavenly Hundert, as we owe our democracy to their sacrifice. By the end the protesters took government buildings including the presidential residence, the president and the government fled prosecution for the murder of the protesters and many other crimes to Russia, where they remain even now. This was the true birth of Ukraine. The song lyrics say "My country will not kneel, and the cities will stand as mountains for one another." That spirit is the true pride of our people.
Just for reference, the protesters lived at the Independence Square in Kyiv for months, and everyone who did not have a chance to stay there, brought food and supplies from all over the country. I remember cars full of camping gear and outdoor kitchen equipment rolling out from our school camp club that went there. Same happened when the war began in 2014 in Donbass. People literally loaded everything they could give into vehicles to be shipped to the front. We had no real army back then, so matrices, cloths, food, everything one could think of. People literally emptied out their homes for anything that could be used at the front for months. When I'm remembering all of it, I keep thinking, what kind of rock have our neighbours been living under, if they thought this country would just bow down...
Any way, thank you so much! Try Yarmak Воїн if you haven't yet. It's also cool.

This was documentary Kyiv footage of Euromaidan - dabbed as Revolution of Dignity, which was going on for 3 winter months (November 2013- February 2014) not only in Kyiv but all over Ukraine. The people won despite of high price of killed and wounded protesters later dabbed as The Heavenly Hundred, and the crook of a president and putler's puppet yanukovich fled to ruSSia. And ruSSia invaded Crimea right away, actually while yanukovich was still negotiating with the opposition leaders with the mediation of EU politicians.

This is where it all began. It took Ukrainians three months (Nov 21 - Feb 20) with 128 killed (some shot unarmed by men with military rifles in broad daylight on camera) and around 3000 injured to overthrow a corrupt president. He fled to Russia. On Feb 21st people came to the central square of Kyiv to mourn and cry.
Little did we know, that on that same 20th of February, Russia launched a military invasion of Crimea, and, later, hybrid invasion of the eastern part of our country. February 20th, 2014 is when the war actually began, even though back then most Ukrainian cities weren't as affected as they are now.
I hope to see the day when I can finally exhale and say all of this is just history.
    Thank you for your reaction.

He wrote this song in 2014. The russians says that we shooting our own citizens from 2014, but it’s false. Russia started war in 2014, they annexed the Crimea, they came into Donbass (but not officially, by soldiers from private companies)
So, they were tolding us that “they are not there”
And even citizens from that territory believe that. They just want to live good. Now, they don’t choose Ukraine or Russia. Because, as You know, who is at the lowest step of Maslow’s pyramid - don’t think about anything, just about how to survive

The visuals are of the "Revolution of Dignity": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution_of_Dignity after which the prorussian president janukovitch was overthrown and escaped to russia.
My amateur translation(i was lazy, so i just used G-translate and then corrected it, sorry for not rendering the lyrics):
She is 22. She is a beautiful, slim lady.
She has always been the best friend of her neighbors.
She is free and pure, but her soul is torn by doubts.
She is always silent, but will soon show her thughts.
Attack and rob, beat and rule her - it won't work,
In a righteous way, she will not allow herself to be offended so easily.
And be you a king, or be you God, or be you a leader, like Lenin -
A proud lady will not kneel in front of anyone!
Who gave the father the right to beat her in the face without conscience.
She's the kind of flower you can't shake the pollen off like that.
She was treated like a muddle by people whose lives are rubbish
Stripped her of everything and hid beads into their pockets
Is it real or just a dream?
Look, in that old barn lies my queen,
All beaten, in wounds, blood flows out - battered body.
Brothers, it's wrong. I wrap my country with white gauze.
Those whose souls are not yet empty gathered around.
Anyone who is for the truth is ready to sacrifice their lives.
She lay all broken, like ruins.
People around whispered her name - Ukraine!
    [twice]
My country will not fall on its knees.
Cities will become united as one and believe me -
No one will stop us in fulfilling our thirst for freedom,
While the soul of a Ukrainian lives in each of us.
As long as the soul lives, I will carry Her in my arms!
I'll turn everyone to dust, I'll kill everyone...
The word fear is simply alien to us.
I will not let anyone offend my innocent beauty.
Servants of Themis - you are not the law, but the rules for show.
You simply are all slaves of one dark council.
You do not know the words: Conscience, Righteousness and Morals.
You are selling your land and soul for pennies.
Beasts, you can only steal and destroy in life!
And I don't know if there's enough room for everyone in hell.
And I will stabd under fire in the same row with brothers.
Already my country is rising and blooming willows.
We will be warriors of truth, brother, as long as we live.
She will heal the wounds, stand up and undo her braids.
Wear a dress of flowers and walk barefoot
In the morning dew, collecting drops with her feet.
This is not a war - everyone is the same, brother, it's time to hide the sabers.
My country will not fall on its knees!
    [four times]
My country will not fall on its knees.
Cities will become united as one and believe me -
No one will stop us in fulfilling our thirst for freedom,
While the soul of a Ukrainian lives in each of us.
Now the funny part about this song is - it`s pretty popular among russians and they like to sing it. While in Ukraine laugh of that fact - "will not kneel? Learn to stand straight first!". Just to feel the difference: ua-cam.com/video/cU3HA7mt2fU/v-deo.html
    and
    ua-cam.com/video/mxh1OIPPxkA/v-deo.html
