Great American Company! Love my Celestron NexStar 4SE Telescope! Amazing computerized scope for the price! Way to go guys, keep it coming!
Good video very helpful i just got the nexstar 4se today now i can get set up
Great video demonstration. It'll help me with my new NexStar 6 SE purchase.
I just bought a 4se for my little sister, and ordered a CGEM 1100 for myself... can't wait!
This was 12 YEARS ago! Time flies
I saw this video first time yesterday and decided the 8" Nexstar SE wasn't cumbersome so I've just bought one. Thanks.
Can I suggest you upload a better quality version of this video... The audio and video quality doesn't do the brand any favours.
Celestron has some great products and support. I have a older Celestron 30mm EP that is one of my favorites.
I love Celestron's Omni XLT series, such a sexy color with the CG-4 mount.
great vid. Thanks.
Celestron is great! I have mixed products all from tele vue, meade but my binocs are the piece le resistance. They're AWESOME!
I think that is a wondeful telescope and presentation. I had a Celestron C8 on a graet polaris mount. It did not have a computer or a drive. You had to use star charts with a red flaslight and learn how to find objects on your own. Called star hopping. Anyone interested in a telescope might want to consider not having a computer assisted telescope. You learn a lot more and are given the satisfaction of finding objects on your own. Which to me was the fun and adventure of it. Either way have fun.
Make sure you entered the correct time and location coordinates. You are supposed to find the 3 align objects by yourself. When the alignment procedure is done, you can then ask it to point at any object and it should be on view with a 25mm EP. It may be a bit off center so you may have to do some final adjustment slew before using a higher magnification (shorter FL eyepiece).
i need help.. when i look at the moon, moon is fuzzy. i spin focus knob and it spin and spin but nothing happend i use 25mm eyepiece and i have celestron nexstar 6SE
I am in love, and yes the telescope is nice also. Thanks for the vid!
The Celestron SCT's are excellent: razor sharp optics, excellent action and weight on the focusers, very stable images due to the short tube. I regularly push my 8" SCT to 475x on Saturn and Mars. I'm used to thinking of 250x as low power since using this scope! Nice demo Jess'. My only question is to I buy the 9.25" or the 11" next?
This helped because I was stumped figuring out where to plug in auxillary power on the 5SE. The obvious 'AUX' plug in was not the right type. Turns out the auxillary power socket is hidden next to the on/off button as shown in the video. None of the instructions show this exists.
Also when I attached my full format camera the forkarm caused obstruction to it.
Rubber shock pads for the tripod are an absolute must for wooden back porches.
Am thinking hard about purchasing this scope but I was wondering if there are any plans to integrate an "Audiostar" like controller into the setup. I like learning as I am observing, and I really like the audiostar idea. I hope you guys come up with something similar because I am so close to pulling the trigger on this purchase...
I am thinking about one of these as my first telescope and want to try astro photography. Does this scope auto track the planets and stars? Is the tracking OK for both quick and slow exposures? I am looking at the 4SE.
MADE IN THE USA!
I'm very happy with my CGEM :)
Made in China actually. I just bought one and everything is marked made in China.
Hi,
I bought the se 8 which has great so far, I was curious though by your response to ssnp, that you can "manually" move the telescope w/out power. won't this mess up or create wear on the the gears?
"the both of best worlds" :-)

hello i have a question, how do i enter a - latitude and longitude in my nexstar
Enjoyed the video, Basically I have a Skywatcher 127 Mak OTA (TUBE ONLY) with a 9x50mm finderscope attached. Would the actual mount of this Celestron Scope fit the 127 5" Maksutov I have and would it work. Thanks:)
@bigdizzy77 You don't have to know the names. Using the 'sky align' function you just align on three bright stars, one after the other, the computer then works out the orientation from those three stars. Once the alignment procedure is complete it will then tell you which stars you aligned to.
Greetings from 20 miles north of Chiang Mai, Thailand. I purchased this scope about one year ago. We have incredible night skies here but after dozens of attempts, I have yet to
align my scope a single time. I always get a failed alignment- object positions do not match the database message. I have never once been able to identify a star in the eyepiece after matching the red laser dot over it. Typically there are hundreds or
thousands of stars in the eyepiece and I have no idea how to know which
one is the "bright star" I am seeing in the laser finder. They all look more
or less equally bright through the eyepiece, though not with my naked
eye. Could you offer me any advice or suggestions? Is there anyone who would troubleshoot this over Skype with me? I have spent many hours reading hundreds of posts and comments- none of which have helped resolve the problem.
There are two videos we have on how to align your telescope that I would take a look at to see if they help:
ua-cam.com/video/Dp4_TGhU-0w/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/pH4MksauCjY/v-deo.html
The second is a bit newer, but either should help. If these don't work, I recommend emailing our technical support team to help you further. mail@celestronsupport.com
i want one!
hello, I am astronomy student. and it would want to buy (Nexstar 85e, 11069). how I can make it if alive in Chile?
Hello,
Great Vid. What if you dont know the names of three stars that are visible that night, how do you alighn the scope? The moon is a given of course...
Thanks for a great video! Can you please let me know the approximate dimensions of the tube. The aperture is 8 inches but is the tube's diameter (at both ends) 8 inches or is it 9 or 10 inches ?
The tube's diameter is just slightly bigger than the aperture, so for an 8", the diameter of the tube is 8.5" to 9"
Got my Nexstar 8se. Tried Sky align twice, last night but it failed. Today am gonna try auto two star alignment.
i think its great that a very pretty girl is into astronomy and works at celestron. very impressive
kuddos.
I NEED HELP ! !
i don't think that my skyalign is working properly. I followed all of the steps, and when I chose for it to go to the moon, it didn't go to the right place! is it broken and if so how can I fix it?
Hit enter for the star pointer. THEN, center the object in the eyepiece THEN you hit align.
How do you align in eye peice?
Can you see deep sky objects in detail with this telescope?
Hi. I'm a little bit of a Celestron fan too - I've got eyepieces, a binocular, a refractor and a catadioptric telescope from you, guys :) However, i'm a little puzzled by one thing: what's the M35x1mm thread for, on the eyepiece-end of the 1.25" visual back? It doesn't seem to fit anywhere on my accessories and adapters. An M42 thread would have had more use to me, and anyone else, i guess :)
Are these available in the UK & if so, what sort of price would i be looking at?
How to set the batteries on the telescope
Please, ask me: what kind of telescope are in video? We want ti buy the same, but not sure in model.
can i move the telescope manually? without batteries or power?
is this the NexStar 8 SE or the 6 SE?
Celestron is better in terms of quality and customer supports to me than Meade. I tried the Meade telescope and it was 4.5 inch reflector from Walmart. I got bored with it and no longer used it. Now, I'm looking for a bigger telescope with astrophoto capability that will keep me going out all night. And I'm sure Celestron is the answer. :-)
Is there any way to use the NexImage software with a MAC?
Does this telescope supports T Mount?, I heard there is telescopes out there only produce an upside down images, Is this one of them?.
Yes, technically you can move it manually, but there is no slow motion controls or anything like that that would allow you to utilize it as a true "manual" telescope.
Good
Please Celestron re do the video in HD with better sound
Je n'ai pas regardé une seule fois le téléscope ! ;-)
All very good. But what happens when you have to put this thing together in one foot of snow, 10 o'clock at night, in the dark, with cold hands and no-one to help you. The bubble levelling system isn't as easy as you make it out to be. Align the finderscope. Then you have to find 3 stars for the GOTO system for polar alignment. Easy in a nice warm office with good lighting but try it out in reality. You'll be putting off a lot of beginners by selling them that thing. Any advice on observatories??
So if I use the feature that lists things "ONLY you can see" does that mean no one else on the planet can see them?
I read a comment by another youTube user warning not buy anything Celestron because if you accidentaly break something, it's impossible to get spare parts from them! Is this true?
So what is the third type of telescope?
Cassegrains,refrators and reflectors
very cool and very nice ! ( the telescop too ;)
is it possible to have the same with the CPC 1100 ?
@bigdizzy77 With the sky-aline, you don't need to know the names of a single star in the sky. Just point to the three bright stars or planets and it will align.
I have just bought a Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Computerized Telescope so if anybody can tell me how to attach a Nikon d60 DSLR it would be appreciated
Hi, I just purchased this telescope.. what accessories would you recommend for first time telescope owners?
Bald Shark sooooooo what accessories did you end up getting. Is that telescope even still working.
The world of accessories is really endless. You can use a StarSense Autoguide, SkyPortal WiFi Module, PowerTank, 1.25" eyepiece and filter kit, Lunar and Planetary filters.
Great that. But how about setting the thing up in the middle of winter with 1 foot of snow, 10 o clock at night and wearing gloves.
This is not a good explanation. There was no mention of the wedge alignment. Also shouldn't the forkarm be placed in a strategic position? I am not clear on that. The latitude adjustment rod!! Some info on that please.
which model is this?
NexStar 8SE
Follow the steps carefully again for single object Lunar-Moon,it is obvous that you did something wrong in the Hand Control NexStar inputse, try again following the Manual carefully!!
All very good. But what about setting this thing up in one foot of snow, when your fingers and feet are freezing, at close to midnight, in the dark with no-one to help you? Easy done in a nice warm house. The levelling procedure is not as easy as it looks either. Then you have to polar align the thing. Then find 3 stars to use the GOTO feature. Has Celestron any comments on building an observatory. Come on folks: be honest regarding your products. Been there, done it & got the t-shirt.
Check to see that your Batteries are Fresh with power and your Hand Pak is lighted and Try Again Carefully following the manual for single object Lunar-Moon pointing again. It appears you might have drained most of your AA Battery power!!
@N37BU6 well many of CELESTRON'S Scope are made in Mainland China. Even though CELESTRON is located in Torrance CA (I own an 11" ULTIMA) the company was "bought out" about 2-3yrs ago and is "Owned" by a company which is located in "Mainland China"---Red China.
Nice chick:-) Can someone give me RA and Dec so I can zoom in on her:-))
I currently have a Celestron 60SLT which I have had a great time using and have had some incredible views with, especially the moon. Just last night (12th August) I was looking at Jupiter with three of it's moons clearly visible at just 28x mag with a 25mm eyepiece on a 60mm refractor! I'm looking now to upgrade to a 6 or maybe an 8se.
Completely false. Celestron has the best support in the industry. It is also the only vertically integrated company in the field with very well established supply chain. Lastly, NexStar SE series are the best computerized series and are (will be) well support for many years to come.
Man o man that's a nerds wet dream. I mean the telescope not the beautiful girl.
Go MEADE!!!!! Meade has better products, better tracking on their mounts, easier computer control and the 12V DC cord from the battery isn't wrapped around the scope when it swings around like the Celestrons do. Celestron SUCKS!!!!!!
