Ibagué is a great place, as long as you don't expect Manizales or Bucaramanga standards of orderliness and city planning. As you show, it has great natural areas very close to the city. As long as you don't need a job, and as long as you're happy with Colombian rather than "international" food and entertainment, you can be happy there as an expat if your Spanish is sound enough. (It does have some decent non-Colombian food, and the Conservatorio offers classical music you won't get in other mid-sized Colombian cities.)
The "tomato juice" is from Tomate de Arbol ( tree tomatoes). It is a red tree fruit. It's not soft, so it is seldom eaten, but it makes good "juice" Colombian style. They typically don't squeeze a fruit for juice, they just pulverize the fruit in water or milk with a blender.
@@MyExpatDiary Ah righto mate. Yeah, it was good. The mrs and I are heading over in June 2023 for a few months so getting as munch info on Ibague as I can.
@@Rumpole1000 I moved to Ibague' because my wife had family here. There are not many international tourists nor much of an expat community, but it's a nice place to live and it's a large enough city so you can find anything you need.
@@danspencer4235 Thanks Dan, yes similar reasons for us. Wife's family is in Cali and Ibague but we'd prefer Ibague to live as its much smaller and still has everything we need. Not being a big Gringo destination is fine for me also. 🙂

Jugo de tomate de arbol is, by far, the worst thing ever invented by the mind of Man, and that includes nuclear weapons.
