Hi Prof Anderson at 9:26 there about, why didn't you use -9.8 m/s^2 for g, but you used positive g rather?

because we have multiplied by 1/2 and then divided by g, hence 2h/g. why it went from h - 1/2 gt^2 = 0, because we moved it to other side

Object when thrown up uses -ve g whereas an object falling down uses +ve g

He brought the negative sign (from in front of g) out to the front of the 1/2 at^2 term. So instead of +1/2 gt^2 using -9.8m/s^2, he wrote -1/2 gt^2 and used a positive g value.
