i cant believe i found this... i graduated that day, platoon 3020.. coincidence i find this almost exactly a year after our first day as recruits... sitting in my room, in my barracks, all the way in okinawa japan..i'll never forget the men that trained me.. greatest men i'll ever meet.
im sure it was unintentional. might have been the wind. took place in March. wind blows covers off all the time
Prolly a dumb question but why do some of them have their ranks on their sleeves...while others don't? Guessing those are the few that didn't make it or?

The outstanding Marines in each platoon are promoted to PFC (single stripe). Usually squad leaders and guidon bearer are automatic. In most cases, the high shooter and high scorer on the PFT/CFT are also meritoriously promoted.
some of the recruits are chosen to receive their next rank by their performance in boot camp and some are guaranteed their rank from their recruiter
there is no Marine Corps ROTC, only NROTC which is in college.
nice.. I was graduating the same day over on the Best Coast.
Granted, the USMC isn't exactly Mensa - but they know how to fight and win, and that's all that counts. Calling the Marines dumb is like calling Dr Stephen Hawking a weakling - you're ignoring his saving grace whilst focusing on what doesn't really matter.
And if they took ROTC in high school (3yrs of ROTC required).
