Our Founders Warned Us About the Dangers of the Party System If we look back, the party system was something many of our Founding Fathers feared and warned us about. Figures like George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson understood that political parties would eventually prioritize power over the people, leading to a divided and self-serving government. In his Farewell Address, George Washington warned against “the baneful effects of the spirit of party.” He argued that political parties could incite “ill-founded jealousies and false alarms” and “kindle animosity of one part against another.” Washington knew that factions would distract leaders from the public good, creating a government fueled by loyalty to party agendas over loyalty to the nation itself. John Adams echoed this, saying, “There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other.” He predicted that parties would lead to “mischiefs of spirit” that would corrupt the political system, causing division instead of unity. The party system has led us far from the original vision of a united republic. Our founders saw a government driven by debate and ideas, not by rigid loyalty to party platforms. They imagined a government of representatives accountable directly to the people, not gatekeepers protecting partisan interests. Over time, however, our leaders have increasingly become trapped in the system the founders warned against, often more invested in gaining or keeping power for their party than working for the good of the nation. The answer to many of America’s political issues may lie in reimagining our system to reflect the wisdom of those who built it. If we hope to achieve the republic our founders envisioned, it’s time to consider moving beyond the entrenched party system and toward a democracy that serves every citizen, not just the interests of powerful factions. 🕊
There is information that can be gleaned from the democrats projections. They said a vote for Stein was a vote for Trump. If this is a projection then what they were really aiming for was getting Trump elected. Not a two party system but really one party offering two candidates.
Not only that but the numbers don’t lie. Jill Stein and other alternative candidates did not cause a trump win. She was 15 million votes behind. The math shows even without the 3 alternative candidates she would’ve lost
Harris was remarkably close in some swing states. With the College, winning is about accumulating majorities state by state, rather than throughout the nation as one whole. edit: And yes, even without the 3 alternative candidates, she would have lost.
She was going to but we have to run a POTUS candidate and Cornel bailed to help the Ds. He is smart enough to know it and they got to him. Really sad. I'll just say it.
*_THIS. WAS. AVOIDABLE._* That's the thing that upsets me. This was avoidable, but despite how low the bars were, the democrats just kept banging their heads on that bar.
Remember: Only 22% of Americans (33% of the total electorate) voted for Trump. [The population of the USA is around 330 million. The total electorate (those entitled to vote) is around 222 million. 74 million voted for Trump. Do the math.] Like most Presidents, Trump does not have a mandate.
You’re assuming the people who didn’t vote for him don’t support him as President. You also assume people who voted for Kamala somehow want Trump to fail. Absurd. I’m an American and I respect what other Americans voted for.
it is the Electoral College that puts a candidate in the WH....in 2016 the same thing happened...Hillary didn't go into the states that had more USMuslims and USPalestinians which could have given her the electoral vote....Clinton lost by her own sorry self.......her campaign advised her to go into those states....she refused....and it seems Kamala used the same playbook~~~~~ it is the billionaires, large industries, and dark money that run the US....and the people who are voted in are working for those people....billionaires, large industries, and who knows what the hell else~ is history repeating itself...it sure looks like it~~~~~~~~~~`

Unfortunately for every one person voted for Jill Stein 100 voted for Kamala Harris. If there is going to be some kind of project to replace the Democratic party, it certainly has a very very big task ahead of it.
I didnt vote this time, but if I would have it would have been for Jill Stein. Recently moved and wasn't registered in the new state (yet). There is a REASON they didn't want to debate with her.
Re: the draft. I love Jill Stein but I don't know where she's getting her info. Yes, registration still exists but it isn't a threat and should have ended a long time ago. Here's the facts (I can look for articles if needed but I've been following this topic for awhile): -Selective Service registration was brought back in 1980 after it last didn't exist in the post-Vietnam War 1970s (Jimmy Carter did this as a chest-thumping move when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan that year). Despite the fact that no young adult man has been prosecuted for refusing to sign up since 1986 and no one is even remotely interested in a draft, registration still continues decades later. -At least a good portion of Selective Service's address list is busted. Did you know young men are supposed to re-register every time they move until they turn 26? Except nobody reads that fine print and it's not enforced. The only study they did (1982 I believe) found that about 80% of registrants did not update their addresses. SS registration is tied to driver's licenses in a bunch of states but not all. -Seriously, no one wants a draft. None happened despite two long wars after 9/11, one of which lasted for 20 years. It was NEVER up for any serious consideration. I was an 18 year old college freshman when 9/11 happened by the way. -There was some kind of auto-registration bill that came up in Congress but I don't think it went anywhere. That is what Jill Stein is referring to. -The real recent news about Selective Service is that registration is no longer tied to receiving federal student aid (so why is this godawful policy still being kept around still?). Registration is still tied to federal jobs and some state government-level and job training programs in different states. So, in summary, yes-draft registration still exists-but no one is under threat for it like Dr. Stein is saying. It's just a grotesque joke of a policy with a lot of misinformation (I hate that word but can't think of a better one to use here) around it, probably because it only currently affects men and men's issues are essentially invisible in popular discourse. It honestly needs to go away and should have decades ago and, yes, it can be repealed. Anyway, I decided to write this to bust some myths and give everyone a better picture of the current situation.
@@yishnir You're not explaining what I have written here that isn't a fact. By the way, I guarantee you that I'm way more read up on this topic than you are; I follow it closer than most and wrote an article about this in my alma mater's opinion mag when it last came up in 2016. I'm trying to give people the best knowledge about what is currently going on re "the draft."
If you want to have a competing 3rd party there is no more option but to regroup all the people fighting for the same thing. Look outside the bubble, look to the EU, look to some S.American examples. It may take 10 years but it is the only way.
These critics always refer to Dr. Stein as a ‘right wing stooge,’ a ‘grifter,’ and all of this, but she’s the only candidate who sounds sincere, and like a sane, non-bought off individual. She’s talking as though you had your neighbor over the coffee table, speaking frankly about how people are depressed, young people are in massive debt, etc. So we support her, and they insult us and say we are the problem for voting in someone we believe in, instead of helping them prop up this two party charade of bought off characters.
One of the problems with American elections is that people keep referring to our government as a "Two Party System". It helps to maintain a self fulfilling prophecy.
I voted for Jill Stein. I personally know 3 people who are having an insane meltdown right now over Harris losing. All 3 of these people are white middle class, non Muslim, non immigrants & past child bearing age. They've got absolutely nothing to be worried about- nothing will change for them except maybe they'll get a tax cut. One has a 20 yr old daughter who even if abortion became illegal, they could still afford an abortion. Even tho I'm a white US citizen, non Muslim, past child bearing years - I'm the one who has much to lose since I'm disabled - on a way below poverty level income (SSDI & SSI) & I recieive SNAP & Medicare/Medicaid.
👏👏👏👏👏👏thanks so much! Have you read all 900 pages of Project 2025? Looked at Trump's tariff proposal? Everyone (except for the billionaires) are going to suffer!
OK, so now that the election is over. We need to get rank choice voting on the ballot in Michigan. Mind you it wouldn’t have done any favors in this particular election. But suffice to say that every Republican nominee going forward is going to be the fascist variety. This means we need every safeguard we can get ASAP.
It’s a shame how the politicians don’t see that the younger generation are struggling and they wanna have a prosperous future, but there is such deprivation right now. They don’t even see a way out of this. No wonder. The younger generation is depressed the rich get richer while they deprivation for the younger generation.
Both parties were supportive of the genocide and answer to AIPAC. after 50 years as a democratic, I have had enough. Voted for Jill. I could not in good conscience vote for either party.
AOC's criticism of Jill Stein is right, she only shows up when it's a presidential election and then you don't hear from her after the election. She should spend more time trying to build a movement that is for economic and social change and stop trying only to be a disruptor in a two party first past the post system which she has no hope of winning.
Jill: Works hard to protest on just her (never Trump), spoil the vote, and keep voters on the couch. Also, Jill: "Told ya, she would lose." I can't wait to not have to deal with this grifter for another 4 years.
I voted for Jill Stein in North Dakota and I had to write her in. If I hadn’t done that I wouldn’t have voted for president at all. People across the American spectrum have many unmet needs from the student loan scam to lack of day care support to not having affordable healthcare or dependable, subsidized transportation and a failure to invest in projects producing good paying jobs. They see this government squandering their benefits on wars and threats of wars across the globe and are disgusted to see that they are complicit in causing the death and starvation of innocent people in Palestine. Another set of issues that affected swing states like Wisconsin is that people were fed up with the WOKE agenda and the promotion of sexual ideology especially to little school children. Identity politics needs to be pushed aside and more attention needs to be paid to the class warfare that has been played out for many years and that working people have lost so far because of how the media helps to divide us. Even Warren Buffet said his class was engaged in class war and winning big time. Regardless of what ethnic group you identify with or what your sexual orientation is or whether you want to be a Furry or not, everyone needs to stand together and demand the benefits they are owed by this wealthy country. JFK, before they murdered him, said “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” Well that is total bull shit now. We need to be demanding the return of our stolen benefits.
You got one thing right, your remaining benefits will be stolen…. Just like everything else not nailed down in Trumps presence. Canada might be a good, close option for you? You think Kamala was a bad option? You ain’t seen nothing yet…

When the billionaires become influential and powerful politically in poor countries, it is called state capture. In America, it is normal.
Our Founders Warned Us About the Dangers of the Party System
If we look back, the party system was something many of our Founding Fathers feared and warned us about.
🎯
Harris was remarkably close in some swing states. With the College, winning is about accumulating majorities state by state, rather than throughout the nation as one whole.
edit: And yes, even without the 3 alternative candidates, she would have lost.

Here's the facts (I can look for articles if needed but I've been following this topic for awhile):
-Selective Service registration was brought back in 1980 after it last didn't exist in the post-Vietnam War 1970s (Jimmy Carter did this as a chest-thumping move when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan that year).
LOL. To bust myths you have to bring facts. You just explained that you have no idea what's happening. ;-P
@@yishnir You're not explaining what I have written here that isn't a fact. I'm trying to give people the best knowledge about what is currently going on re "the draft."
@@yishnirI'm an anti-war lefty by the way and believe draft registration should be abolished.

She is speaking the truth
We have reached a new phase in American politics:
Kamikaze democracy: Your party better deliver, or else.
We need to have more human rights lawyers, so you can sue government who are defaming the beliefs of the USA people
If you want to have a competing 3rd party there is no more option but to regroup all the people fighting for the same thing. Look outside the bubble, look to the EU, look to some S.American examples. It may take 10 years but it is the only way.
Jill, the American people need you. Please.
Pretty sure a majority of us predicted this
These critics always refer to Dr.
The Angela 'Dry' interrogation made me a Jill Stein fan. 🤷♂️

It’s a shame how the politicians don’t see that the younger generation are struggling and they wanna have a prosperous future, but there is such deprivation right now. They don’t even see a way out of this. No wonder. The younger generation is depressed the rich get richer while they deprivation for the younger generation.

AOC's criticism of Jill Stein is right, she only shows up when it's a presidential election and then you don't hear from her after the election. She should spend more time trying to build a movement that is for economic and social change and stop trying only to be a disruptor in a two party first past the post system which she has no hope of winning.
AOC is a genocide enabler. Forget her.
“I’m speaking!” Yeah, Harris, but you should have listened.

Jill: Works hard to protest on just her (never Trump), spoil the vote, and keep voters on the couch.
Also, Jill: "Told ya, she would lose."
I can't wait to not have to deal with this grifter for another 4 years.
It is simple, if ypu want to get money out of politics stop voting for people with the money.
