Dani I lost my favorite brother and my cousin who was closer than a brother in 2020. I took comfort in Elvis Gospel.Softly as I Leave you that you just played and your comments touched me. You are quite kind.
The voice is Shaun 'Sherrill' Nielsen, gospel singer. Shaun appears at the last Elvis concert (june 21 1977) singing along with Elvis, "o sole mio/it's now or never". It is very nice to hear a baritone (Elvis) and a light tenor (Nielsen) sing together.
I believe this version by Elvis was nominated for a Grammy in 1978 after his death. It’s actually a cover of a Frank Sinatra song that sounded a little more upbeat. I think Elvis created this interpretation that it was a husband saying goodbye to his wife. It’s a beautiful song and a beautiful style with the duet of his tenor singer Sherrill “Shaun” Nielsen
This song always reminds of my Mum's passing we sat with her for 3 days in the hospital then when everyone else stepped out for various reasons and it was just me and her she slipped away. Rest in peace Mum love you always💜
This song is so beautiful yet it breaks my heart. The Matt Monro version was played at my nanas funeral last year, and I’d always been close to her. I’d never heard this version, but Elvis rarely disappoints.
Yes hello it's me again hey there yes I like the video that something here all the time from Elvis on a song like that from Canada Toronto Scarborough Ontario God bless you and your family Carl Supertramp Garnett hide in your shell Kentucky Rain
Nobody can do sadness better than Elvis, as sadness was always a part of him. Dani, softly as I leave you until we meet again, to enjoy your next, sweet (Thursday) Elvis Video.
Music is such a magnificent and magical tool. It has the ability to life you up or break you down. Elvis in particular, connected to the songs he performed and his the audience listening. That's why we feel everything he sings so deeply. Great reaction, Dani!
No one sings this song like Matt Monro! Matt's voice was amazing, and is rarely reacted to on YT.....so underrated, yet he was Frank Sinatra's favourite singer. It would be great if you could break this trend, and react to one of the best voices you'll ever hear!!
Elvis sang alot of songs about death in his final years and if you want to know how Elvis was really feeling towards the end listen to Wayne Newton sing the song The Letter. It's about a letter Elvis had written in his hotel room and tossed it in the trash can and was found by the housekeeper later on. Wayne Newton got ahold of the letter sometime later on and made a song about it.
Yes, I've listened to it a while ago, I think Elvis committed suicide, and that letter really helps to confirm it. His fame killed him in the end. RIP Mr Presley ❤️
@@allenforney4769 Yes its a huge cover up, just a small thing like insurances paying out, they didn't cover suicide then. But the main thing was his reputation and how it would be seen in 1977. One of his entourage has said on camera, he was on the bathroom floor surrounded by tablets etc, he hadn't taken his first 2 attacks as they were called, that day, he took 3 a day, the same man said he thought Elvis had made up his mind that morning to do it. Nobody in the house except his daughter in her bedroom and Ginger in his bed asleep, probably after taking sleeping tablets, she found him when she woke 6 hours later, he'd been dead for hours, nobody to find and save him. The warts and all book was coming out a couple of days later, and how could he carry on doing the repetitive concerts knowing that the audience knew, it was the only thing he had left, his clean image. He was telling people he didn't want to be Elvis Presley anymore and the bloody awful life he had, no life. Martin Sheen said in an interview nobody knew what to do with him, he was in a box, trapped, and couldn't get out. His last 2 years must have been a torment, he was a spontaneous man who got bored quickly and easily, doing the same concerts, the same songs, for ever, with no way out. He'd tried to get rid of Parker, but his father was given a bill for millions of dollars to break his contract, and Parker was getting 50% of all Elvis's earnings. You most probably know all this. When you fall in love with a man and a fantasy when you're a naive 14 years old, you never lose it, I'm 75 now, so 61 years of loving him, and without being over dramatic feeling his pain.... He was a beautiful man inside and out who couldn't cope with his fame, the prescription drugs numbed it.... His fame and the prescription drugs killed him in the end...
Hello beautiful Dani. Hope your day has been good. That song is always a tear-jerker to me. You have a big wonderful soft heart. You should react to I'll never know Elvis June 1970. Don't know if you reacted to it yet.
Dani, Loved the Elvis Presley song Softly As I Leave You and your reaction to it. I've never heard this song from Elvis before and it is a very touching heart breaking song. Can you please maybe do a reaction to Ambrosia " How Much I Feel " it is a slow love song from 1978 and was a big hit that year. I know you will enjoy hearing and reacting to it. They also had another hit love song in 1980 titled " Biggest Part Of Me " which you may want to check out sometime also. Thanks again for reacting to this beautiful Elvis Presley song.
Very true. It was written as a love song. Elvis decided the song was more akin to death than love. Sonny West, one of Elvis' bodyguards, has stated this in the book 'Elvis What Happened'.
Hello Dani, Robert P here again. This song always makes me cry for a few years past I was in a similair situation and brings back to that time. Thank You . Stay well h
I heared this song in the 90s . It was fantastic and with elvis speaking amazing. I heared Elvis did not like the song at first until he heared the story . Probably because other versions do t show the emotions of the song
I know this is a big ask, but would you please consider Lara Fabian (1999 live performance) of Je Suis Malade ( with english and french captions ) ? It is a master class of live performing. If you ever do make sure you watch until the end.🥰
Hi Dani: If you get a chance, listen to this song as covered by Frank Sinatra. A different feel as sung by someone a bit older yet less fearful perhaps?

So sorry for ur loss I lost my Mom last April GodBless 🙏🙏
I love Elvis' speaking voice so much and the end where they harmonize the last sentence is just magic. 😥❤️😥❤️

Elvis Thursday is always a highlight.
Thank You DANI ✨ AMEN

Very rare moment where Elvis makes the choice of speaking, instead of singing, almost all the song; Very unique! Beautiful moment.

@@jennywren7822 There were actually two suicide notes that he wrote but not much is said about them and the hand writing in them is definitely his.

Elvis created the story for the song. It was fiction. But with his acting and heart felt emotions he gave it a special layer that grabs deep. TCB

Thanks Dani, very touching......
