They didn't have a grill logo in 64? 🤔. I thought all blackface amps had the fender badge on the grill. Its funny how these things that are obvious once pointed out can go unnoticed tho.
Agree folks, as I saw a zene vintage advertisement showing the “Student Models” in Fender’s black panel line, 1st year all lined up. They all had clean front baffle screens. Champ, Vibro Champ, Princeton, Princeton Reverb. Am I missing a few in between? I’ve got a ‘64 Princeton Reverb. Didn’t have it’s logo when I bought it. Went out and bought an aftermarket logo. When I learned the truth about 1st yr Blk panels, I thought they actually looked better without a logo! Nice. Clean. Small. JJZ…(°¿.°`)
That was a shockingly high bias on the '66 Princeton Reverb when it first was tested. The ink stamp near the power transformer-T131866, indicates the date the chassis wiring was completed, in this case by Technician 13, during the 18th week of 1966. It's a shame about the output transformer, but since the amp is no longer in original condition, if it were mine, I would install a new quality replacement.
Quick question regarding your step-down transformer. Does it also change the Hz frequency from 50Hz to 60Hz? The reason I ask is I am in the process of trying to move to Europe and will need a transformer that does both voltage & frequency for my two American built amplifiers (one valve and the other solid state). Thank you in advance.
No transformer does that. If you really, really need 50 Hz, that will require a significant piece of gear, not a $20-$25 transformer. Possibly much cheaper to install a fan in each amp as a preventative measure. 50Hz will make them run hotter.
Wow the tone of the Ansley amp combined with his playing was simply majestic. Bravo to both musician and amp builder 👏👏👏👏
Nice! Easy to tell on the outside if it's an early year or not, 64 would be sans grill logo and FEIC Faceplate (into early 65)

@@michaelknight4041 yep, 64 they didn't have anything on the grill 🙂

@@j.justinzimmerman9836 deluxe no logo as well. I've never seen a no logo Vibrolux, but maybe? That's where my knowledge ends
Some Deluxe and Deluxe Reverb had no panel logo.
We finally have sun here in Seattle...glad it found you too ; )
Just bought a second hand PR18, totally blown away. Awesome amp, love the channel too. Keep up the amazing work!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great sounding amp and player! Also nice troubleshooting explanation on the PR. Thank you!
Another great video and exploratory/inspection! Thanks for sharing 👍
“Who’s your quality control on the Aynsley Lister signature amps?” Uh, that would be Aynsley Lister. “Oh. Well, yes, that will do.”
It would be really interesting to hear what you think needs to be done to make the De Ville reliable.

Any thoughts on lifting the heater centre tap and putting in fuseable balance resistors?
Its a good idea, if for no other reason than to save your power transformer if a heater shorts to cathode.

Another great video. Are there any videos comparing the PR18 brown and black preamp options?
I'm afriad not, it's on the to-do list :)
what a sweet beauty
Blues Jr bias!
I laughed way harder at this than I should have 😂
