    This is a very interesting tool and is requiring some attention to detail to make it right. Of all bottle openers I have used or used, this is the first one that I have seen at an angle. Most are regular top down screws. Very nice work cleaning this one up and getting it ready for its revival. Thanks for sharing this video with us and please remember that this Texan watches you with a big smile on my face. Paul

    Amazing how in the past people came up with ideas to invent a household machine that is way more expensive and more complicated than what is in use today. I own a corkscrew that consists of nothing more than a sharp screw attached to a simple handle. But I guess the one that you restored so excellently was in use at a wine chateau, or in a restaurant or hotel. Please keep making more restauration videos of objects of yesteryear!

    You have a wonderful restoration channel. Your happiness is so apparent. My first guess was that you were restoring a bottle capper. Then I saw the corkscrew and realized it was for removing corks. Another great restoration. Thank you and smiles from the USA.

    Hello Radeck
    Once again, it is a very nice restoration. BRAVO !
    I think you placed the device too high on your furniture at the end of the video. The fixing screw was set at table height but it was more a device for bars and restaurants. It is useful when there are a lot of bottles to open 😉🤣. But when the corkscrew is beautiful, I understand that we want to use it ... 🤣🍷🍷🍷🍷 Cheers ! 🤣

    • @VeradonaRestoration
      @VeradonaRestoration  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I agree, it was high, but I don't have a table with an edge where I could fasten the corkscrew, that's why the cabinet :)

    Recognized the corkscrew as soon as I saw it. Many decades ago I purchased a large number of cases of Bordeaux. A special box was included and it had the same one as yours. Only difference was that my gift was sealed and never been taken out of the packaging nor used. It worked perfectly. Great video and thank you for a brilliant restoration. 👍

    I love the work you both do. I'm not a restorer so it's probably why I'm frustrated. But in practically every video I see there's a lot of use of the sand blaster, which does awesome work, I just hate the pitted finish it leaves. Though for getting into difficult areas it's very good.

    • @VeradonaRestoration
      @VeradonaRestoration  Рік тому

      Yes, the sandbox is a great asset for repairs and renovations. Some places are really hard to access, so it is a big help. Of course, it is also possible without it, but the renovation takes considerably longer.

      @@VeradonaRestoration@VeradonaRestoration I know, I just realized it sounded like I was just talking about your videos, my mistake, I was talking about all the metal restoration videos I've seen. I know to not only do the work but also the time it takes to edit and put out a complete video you do have to do what's necessary. Thanks so much. Oh the other thing I really love about this piece is that when you withdraw the screw from the cork it slides up into safety inside the mechanism. Everything about it is just so well thought out including the angle of the mechanism, absolutely perfect for the way one normally would hold a wine bottle to remove the cork without spilling the wine. I can't imagine how you two felt when you found this device. So exciting. Lol

    Nice job generally on the restoration. Seen these things quite a few times in restaurants, probably makes more sense there, when you need to open a lot of bottles every day.
    Few things i would have done differently is to maybe use a little bit less of the golden overpaint, but i guess thats just personal taste. And i would never use any paint/lacquer on moving parts, especially inside a machine, just because that paint will start to be scratched off, and mix in with the grease making an abrasive paste wearing it down more over time. And i would definately not want to have the corkscrew bit in contact with any grease, as that could end up in the wine bottle.

    • @VeradonaRestoration
      @VeradonaRestoration  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your honest opinion. Fortunately, the corkscrew does not go through the whole cork, so there is no contamination of the wine. Radek

      А теперь представте и ответьте себе. Точно такой же штопор (громоздкий, тяжелый, торчащий и порчащий вашу столешницу, не дешовый (вон сколько литья) но СОВРЕМЕННЫЙ, вы бы купили на кухню себе? Думаю что, навряд ли! Ну во всяком случае, очереди за ними в магазинах не будет🙂 Тут наверно подкупает другое. То что бездушного пластика нет и то что вещи старинные.
