Lots of entertainment has featured different races as well, especially black Americans. I grew up with Fat Albert, Sanford and Son, Good Times, etc. Those were super popular shows, and hardly anyone rejected them for racial reasons. • @karjens41
      @karjens41 Рік тому

Exactly. But writers and producers gave up on quality. They just want to throw out as many politically popular buzz words thinking that will get them an audience. They don't truly care about Trans, gay, people of color or women. If they did they would take time to create quality ORIGINAL productions instead of just taking the lazy way and just rewriting an existing character to fit whichever group they're trying to fawn over. One day these groups will see that Hollywood, Broadway or any of the elites, truly do not care. They only want your money.

Yes, and its interesting to note these films were comedies; moreover, back in the day, there was a lot of self-mockery concerning and within the queer community. I won't denigrate LGB with a "T". Just leave gay folks the fuck alone. No, I am not gay! Anyhow, basically, gay writers and creators had a sense of humour back then, and fucking life experience. As a result of their trials they also gained literary competence, and could expand from their "niche," market occassionally. "Brokeback Mountain" is a beautiful story, and "Girl Interrupted," about the trans issue was also good. Both of these films, backed up with the good humour of the aforementioned gay comedy scene. Did a lot to encourage tolerance, at the very least. Unfortunately, there has been mass overreach on all levels. Small, niche, communities are now represented and expressed by horrific, incompetent, sheltered, wealthy, idiots predominate in all areas the point where folks are now more anti-trans than they've ever been. Clap, clap, clap, to them.

New York has always been a rugged place but I’ve never once been scared daily to commute back and forth to my job. The now notorious trend of blaming everyone else for a show's failure, especially by calling them some type of 'ist' or 'phobic' person, is detrimental to our future culture. There can be several varying factors as to why a show fails, or it could come down to one or two poor decisions on the part of the creators but examining and recognizing the actual truth of these failures seems beyond the scope of those complaining. Most find it too easy to just point fingers.

Agreed that "there can be several varying factors as to why a show fails...", but there's plenty of people in this comment section claiming these shows failed for one reason and one reason only.
The failure is the combination of guilt tripping and lazy writing/direction that comes from being woke for woke sake, yet some get irate the second they see a lick of woke casting and never give it the time of day regardless. There's a fair number of pre-MeToo "woke" films and shows [before woke was even a term] that did just fine...all because they weren't forced, neither in execution nor marketing. That said, in that same vain, some of those very films from a couple decades+ ago that did just fine would be raked through the coals today by comment sections like these before they even get released.
We're in a political atmosphere of one side embracing something just because it checks certain boxes, regardless of how bad it is, versus another side fighting against it just because it checks certain boxes, without even watching to know whether it's any good.

Last Christmas I took my kids to see A Christmas Carol at The Alliance Theater in Atlanta. I noticed in the program how many of the actors were originally from New York. Same with film actors. Many relocated to Georgia because we reopened in June of 2020. One actor I met told me his family was running out of money because California was still shutdown, so they packed up and headed for Georgia. Covid may kill you, that's true, but as our Governor said, poverty is deadlier. Inflation has touched us too, but our state's economy is doing much better than most, and people flocking here. Our homeschool group had a record number of new families, and all of them has relocated from New York and California.

Luckily I was able to put on my usual “don’t look, pretend not to give AF” NY attitude and he went right passed me. As for the rest of your comment, have you ever heard of a strawman? Because that is exactly what you have created.
First, you assume I'm 1. Straight (I am) and 2. Not in a relationship (I am not currently.) However, I'm not in a relationship because I'm not *looking* for one. Also, I'm Christian and I don't believe in sex before marriage, so even if I was in a relationship, I wouldn't be getting "attention."
Second, you assume that I am conservative. I am not. I am a right leaning centrist.
Third, you call me an incel, when you know absolutely nothing about me other than the fact I like musicals and am subscribed to The Comment Section, but I digress. Contrary to what you believe, not every man who is right of center is Andrew Tate.
Anyways heres the definition of Incel.
      www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/incel
Apparently you assume that I'm some asshole who thinks women belong in the kitchen and are inferior to men. I'm not an idiot, anyone who believes these things has an extremely outdated and flat out wrong view of life. I'm well aware that men and women are equal in most things, I know for a fact that some of my female friends could beat my ass in a fight if they wanted to.
When I choose to start dating, I would look for a woman who holds herself to standards. A person with dignity and self respect. A relationship is a give-and-take. As a man, it is my job to provide for my partner, and I would expect my partner to provide for me. These provisions look different between relationships. If I were to marry, maybe my wife would be the money-maker, maybe not. I just don't know yet. Ultimately my point is that men and women are equal, but not the same.
Fourth, you assume that all women are liberal. Clearly that isn't the case, after all, look at the channel we're on.
Fifth, you assume that woman don't like conservative men. However, there are a large amount of surveys and studies that say otherwise.
Sixth, you assume that I jack off to Brett. I do not, and anyone who does is probably a terrible person. I will admit that yes, Brett is a pretty woman, but I personally am not necessarily *attracted* to her.
I am a man who, while confident in my beliefs, is willing to listen to others. So, if you would like to respectfully converse with me, be my guest. But if you're just going to insult me, go fuck yourself.

Reminds me of when that movie Bros came out. Billy Eichner claimed the movie failed because people are homophobic. No. It failed because you released a romantic comedy in October, the month where everyone wants to watch a spooky movie, and also Avatar, the highest grossing movie of all time, was rereleased in theaters to hype up it’s sequel.

Oh god that horrible bros movie. His temper tantrum was more entertaining then the movie itself. As someone who is gay, I’m proud to be a homophobic bigot(base on billy Eichner words) and not watch that boring movie which many lgbtq didn’t watch it either

My Mom and I went to see POTO in October and visited a Starbucks across the street from Moynihan Train Hall and witnessed a…person…burst in, call the barista a c**t and n****a, knock down the recycle bin, and then spit on the door. At that moment, I realized I really had no desire to ever visit NYC again.

Well I have one thing to thank COVID for, staying at home on my farm has taught me I really don't like any aspect of cities. I much prefer the buzz of my honey bees to the cacophony of the city. While the local theater companies aren't Broadway, they are inexpensive, uncrowded and provide a much more intimate experience being up close to the actors.

I used to go to a play, a ballet, an opera as well as art and film festivals every year until the pandemic. I haven't returned since we've re-opened because of the cost of living. Hardly anyone can justify dropping $500 for a few hours of entertainment anymore. The travel, accommodation, ticket and food costs are just unjustifiable in this climate.

I live in NYC & I saw KPOP. It ran about two months & absolutely loved it. Tickets started at $60 & rush tickets were available for $35. The show I went to the audience was very receptive so that’s a shame it closed but I’m glad I saw it when it was running. Broadway is just expensive though. I enter a lot of lotteries to try & see shows.

I went to see Beetlejuice a few weeks ago, and I loved it. I knew it was something special after hearing “I know you’re woke but take a joke.” The Book of Mormon is still going as well, and I can almost guarantee that that’s the least woke show of all time. So there’s still hope, just a very small amount
