I like that advice to not get sucked down the comparison trap. I've learned to do my best and try to learn when I see something better. We're not saving lives with our woodworking! Eventually they will all end up in a landfill....but for our lifetime, they can bring much joy!
Ive been woodworking for two years now and I have to say that i make mistakes on every project. However, thats how you learn and improve. I rarely build anything a second time so every project is a "first". Its so rewarding when an idea comes to life through woodworking. Congratulations on 20k subscribers as i am now one as well.
I relate to you so much! Building a UA-cam channel while working a full time job is no small feat. I personally went to school for graphic design but am now a software sales engineer and have a gigantic interest in wood working (though I am a beginner by every definition of the word). I stumbled across your channel and was drawn in so quickly, especially seeing your colorful mountain project. I love how authentic your videos feel and your courage to put yourself out there when this world can be so harsh. You are definitely inspiring me to get my butt off the couch and go work on projects of my own. Thank you :) P.S. I would absolutely love to see a day in the life video for you! Your work setup looks drool worthy
That is all very kind of you to say and it makes me so happy to hear that you are enjoying the style of my videos thus far :) I'll definitely think about filming a day in the life video!
Hello Elena, Thanks to you and congratulations on your 20 K and your great channel. You do it really well and have very nice projects. Your videos are very well designed and inspiring. Since I also enjoy working with wood myself, I am of course very interested in your projects and the design. You have a very pleasant and calming voice. With other channels it sometimes seems hectic and annoying. But as I said, not with you. People really enjoy listening and watching you. Keep it up and share your wood projects with us often. Warm greetings from Germany🙂
Don't underestimate the ability to get a patreon going. Lots of would easily hop on a basic $1 or $2, even $5 level with no other expectations other than getting a (fairly?) regular output of content. Lots of us watch a lot of these as much for inspiration and ideas as for skill building. Go for it; I'm in.
Congrats on 20 K. Enjoyed hearing your background and how you mix job, biking, projects, and woodwork. Appreciated the list of beginners' project ideas.
Great video and thank you for sharing your story and journey. You are absolutely right about having our own skill set and we might all do better if we stayed in our lane and honed in our skills. 💪
Enjoy watching your vids… the fact that you aren’t a seasoned vet (yet 😉) with every tool possible, how you talk to us and that you share in your accomplishments and sometimes stuff that doesn’t work out, is so refreshing. I found out after years of having an office job that I enjoy working with wood, completing projects around the house; you give me inspiration and courage to try things I previously never would have… so thank you 🙏 and keep going. Cheers.
I watched and heard a very articulate and in control young woman. You have a good grasp of your abilities and what is comfortable for you. Sounds like you have a wonderful and supportive family. I stumbled on your channel and have been subscribed since watching the construction of the teardrop. I look forward to seeing more of your projects. Best of luck with youyube!
I feel kinda like I'm listening to myself talk while watching this lol. I really relate to a lot of your experiences and interests. Keep being creative and happy new year!
Congratulations on the excellent work you are doing and especially for those of us who have little experience, congratulations on your 20k and on your new workplace
Congrats on 20k. An idea for channel members, I could draw for each category (bronze, silver and gold) an art or painting of yours, I know there must be people from all over the world and maybe dealing with shipping issues can be difficult, it's just an idea or digital sending (since you work with design) :)
Great Video. It seems that so many insecurities starting up a creative endeavor from scratch is not an unknown factory, but it is good to hear I’m not alone with the growing-pains/insecurities. 😊 looking forward to your next video.
I really appreciated your work. Its really interesting and creative. Sharing knowledge with other people is the best thing to do. I also decided a month ago to share my knowledge and what i do best to other people. You are doing great work. Keep it up. ☺
Hi Elena. Love your channel! To answer your question about what entices people to join a patreon, for me personally, it's supporting content creators that I enjoy. I don't think I've ever joined a Patreon specifically to get rewards, but rather I want to help keep the creator I enjoy active, making content, and ideally sponsor/ad free as long as possible so I can enjoy the content without feeling like I'm being sold things. I think for a lot of people, simply having a way to help support you, and keep your channel alive and active, is reward enough. As for what rewards I do actually enjoy, while I've never joined a Patreon to get rewards, it's always nice when there a chance for some more interactivity. For low tiers, access to a private discord server where we can ask you questions, or just talk about whatever, and for higher tiers, quarterly or monthly livestreams where we can talk with you directly through chat. Hope that helps! If you make a Patreon, no matter what rewards you offer, you'll have at least one patron here!
Thank you for the detailed answer 😊 this is very helpful! I would say it's the same for me when I join a Patreon but it's nice hearing other people's perspective on the matter.
Thanks for sharing your background! Would be cool, if your dad is up for it, for you two to do a father-daughter project. My daughter is 5 and I hope that I’m able to inspire her to build and create things when she’s older.
Thank you for sharing your awesome video with us. Go for a band saw box. Your skills will improve as younwork more wood. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Interesting, the mountain biking thing would be great to intersperse with your usual content, might make for a unique addition to your channel. Been a mountain biker for close to 40 years and I love watching people build stuff and we also know you a little better now. Thanks.
Hi Elena, your points about woodworking being inspired by your dad resonated with me. I was lucky enough to have time with both my grandfathers, one of whom was a cabinetmaker & for a while ran a production wood turning section & the other was a mechanic mostly. My dad also picked up the woodworking side & involved me in whatever he could as I grew up. My daughters are teens now & eldest has designed & worked on a few projects for her room, whilst my younger has had design input but is not as inclined (yet) to be covered in wood glitter. 😊 One idea / approach that I have used a few times as getting more seriously into woodworking in the past few tears (in case helpful to anyone), if you have the scope to practice a technique before live use, do that. I’ve built drawers with different construction methods I then installed in shop or garage storage, for example, before tackling making drawers for kitchen cabinets. In other cases I’ve used off cuts to test cutting, planing, making joints or finish types for the next project. Practice helps me with both quality of end result & safety, as I work out what I can & can’t do.
That's awesome! I love when a skill/passion like that gets passed from generation to generation. It's similar with my family, both my grandfathers also had an interest in woodworking.
Maybe one day I can collaborate with you… The thing is I am on the opposite side of the world. “Egypt”…. YT is tough… It is both satisfying and depressing. Keep the good work. Keep building. Respect..
As you have done some power carving with the coffee table. why not do a or recommend My Happy place www.youtube.com/@MyHappyPlaceSlovenia. I can see you doing and enjoying some power carving in the future 😃

I would love to watch you interview your dad and showing his woodworking projects. Great channel.
Thanks! It's on my list of future videos to make :)

Have you seen Tamar 3 X 3 custom designs channel?
I have! She's a very talented woodworker.
I also like to make things, i am new on the channel.
She is also a pretty girl. 😊
I like your videos just as they are. They are natural. Patreon spoils that.
Appreciate the feedback! If I did start a Patreon I wouldn't change the style / flow of my videos.
Elena, how old are u?
I'm in my 20s.
@@elenamakes Thank u Elena. You so young and so creative. Желаю, чтобы твой канал только рос и развивался, а количество идей не иссякало)
