We went to Zagreb this past Christmas and had the pleasure of experiencing their Christmas market - one of the best in the world. Love that city!

I did the Croatia island trip, but made a point to visit Zagreb for a few days when I was done.
Such a beautiful city with an incredible history. And great beer.
My family originated from a small town in Croatia named ogulin. I hope to see the country where my roots are one day.

Actually, you don't need to avoid dark lit alleys, nor the greater crowds...
There's practically no that kind of random violence in Zagreb.
Also, there are no "dangerous neighborhoods" in Zagreb (or in Croatia in general).

regarding tram tickets, tram and bus drivers now sell only 15kn ticket that lasts 1,5 hour. 4 kuna tickets can only be bought at news stands and ZET offices. Also validators that can be used for these tickets are located only by the driver (new long trams also have those at the back of the tram)

It is a Zagreb bend called ELEMENTAL, the song name is called "Iz dana u dan" (from day to day), and actually they are singing about bad politics in Croatia. :D

Yes. There have been settlements along the Sava river for 37,000 years. Remains of the oldest known "Europeans" have been found all over Croatia.

That woman kissing you and the other one with glasses at Bistro Amfora are the rudest, grumpiest people ever. They are playing just for the camera in this video. They never smile, never listen.They don't bring the menu or take the order before 20 minutes. You order a dish but they insist on another and don't explain why...I went there last october after watching this video. (Of course it is not your fault and this video is lovely and helpful.) Despite the terrible service fish was delicious, prices were good but i will never go there again.
