I own a Venus harp and I live in Canada, dealing with the company and having my harp shipped here was not difficult at all. I agree it is a quality instrument and the sound (comapred to my Salvi) is unbelievable! Thanks for the video!

I love my Venus harp! Their semi grand is smaller than my Salvi concert grand but is made better, weighs less and the sound is comparable. Of course they make full sized concert grands but I worked too much to lug one of those around all the time. Way to go VENUS!

My daughter needed a pedal harp to continue with her gigs and to take off to college. We found a seven year old Venus Prodigy that we could afford, but we knew nothing about the company. After watching this video, we decided to make the 9-hour drive to try this harp out. It was was full of cobwebs, grimy, never had the strings changed except when broken, and had never been regulated. We both had second thoughts about buying this, but I went over it carefully with a structural and mechanical checklist and it checked out fine. We bought it, brought it home, cleaned it up according to Venus' website instructions, changed the strings and had it regulated. It is now a beautiful looking and sounding harp and my daughter loves it even more that her $22,000 rental. Thanks, Venus, for making such a great, durable instrument!

Its wonderful that you have the heart to keep the price of these wonderful harps affordable. I never made a lot of money but I always loved a harp so I built my own celtic style and learned to play. I was honored to play for the world famous Peter Paul and Mary at the late Mary Travers request. This alone will probably be the accomplish of my life concerning the harp.

Hello Thelzharp. Thank you for posting. The key words in your post are "in a harp store." If the harps were in the factory still, I probably hadn't gotten around to testing them yet. I take great pride in testing the harps and not letting them out until they're ready. If the harps are being sold in someone else's store, they are probably older and no one has tested them over a year--every harp changes and needs maintenance regardless of the brand.

i learned that strings can muffle as they get older too so that is probably it. thanks for the reply :)

I completely agree with what Walt says I have played a Venus harp and they are by far the best petal harp company that I know of, quality, time, craftsmen ship, artistic value is key in producing the best harp, dont buy any other kind ive heard all the top brands of harp and none can compete, in the future i will to be a proud owner of a Venus harp! The only downfall is its hard to get your hand on one in Canada, its much more expensive than the U.S.

Hello Thelzharp. Try playing the lowest C higher or lower on the string. The pitch will be more defined and less flabby. Any harp teacher can show you this on any brand pedal harp.

Why do some parts of the playing sound synthesized? I love these harps but not sure if you can trust how the sound is translated on youtube.

Tropicalharpist72 Good question. It must be the your speaker, or the recording device. Or even perhaps the way the video was edited to have Mr. Krasicki’s voice over the top of my playing. You’re right though, all harps sound better in person.

Massay Tie I’m playing Coldplay’s “Clocks”. Matt Mayberry arranges it beautifully. Sylvia Woods arranged the second piece from the Beatles “The Long and Winding Road”.

the harp at 3:04 sound was resonating to deep the girl has become compartmentalized lost the crisp sound it should have, I've seen this problem in a lot of harps coming off the shelfs now , sad because most people can't tell the diff cause it sound so beautiful any way...but trust me there is a resonance problem, ....keeping it from sounding crisp

Harp sound is very individual. Venus harps have a beautiful sound. I guess if you like tinny bright glassy sounding harps you can find one of those in one of the other companies. A mellow sound is more beautiful to listen to.
