I am transfixed by Nancy's Album "A CELBRATION FOR HARP" I bought it blindly, I do that sometimes, and it has been the greatest gift in music for thirty years, I have bought four copies, no thing can compare to its beauty, the pristine taste in the oeuvres selection, the ethereal sound, how meticulously it was recorded and produced, it is beauty turned into angelic music, Miss Allen, God blesses us with hints, rays of light, rain on the fields, love in our hearts and beautiful souls like yours..........I could go on, will not, I absolutely love your gifts, and will eternally listen to it, even in spirit.

Nancy, thank you for a fascinating, and informative video. I took piano with your mom, and recall the two harps resident in the living room! What a magical, musical home you lived in! Wonderful to hear your perspective on growing up in a musical family. John Cuddy

I have been a Nancy Allen fan since the Angel albums came out. I bet she is a SUPERB music teacher. At age 13, I made a commitment to never take another piano lesson haha and came to regret it later and am a terrible player-by-ear howbeit lover of music.

I am Charles Ballew and live in Kansas City, MO, and while we have never met, we have one of those "six degrees of separation" traits in that Bob Barlow was one of my best friends from 1964 until his death in late September, 1989. I miss him to this very day, and there are few weeks that pass each year when I don't mentally thank him for making the harp my very favorite musical instrument. Bob used to speak of you from time to time, so I knew you had to be a good harpist for him to continue mentioning your name. I remain sorry our paths never crossed on the occasions when I vacationed in NYC in order to share quality time with Bob and enjoy some of the best cultural activities available in the entire World. Keep playing beautiful harp music, and accept my good wishes for continued musical success.

What a nice, concise, and informative lesson on the harp. I've had Nancy's "A Celebration for Harp" recording for 10 years and have enjoyed it immensely. I just ordered a copy of her "Harp: Ravel & Debussy CD" from eBay. I've played piano for over 50 years which gives me a true appreciation for the harp, a much more difficult instrument to play. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience through this short video tutorial, Nancy. Appreciate it!

“I have a terrible singing voice, that’s probably why she assigned me to the Oboe”

Thank you Nancy- this is great. The sound of the orchestra is great also. I'd be very interested to hear anything you might have to say about the way you tune the harp. I realize it's a very complicated subject- I wonder if you use, and trust a tuner, or if in some cases, some intervals, you might use your ear. Thanks
