- This week Jeremy Bumpus walks us through this 1929 Ford Model A restoration. Restored at his shop, The Hot Rod Shop, in Corinth, MS, this project has been ongoing since 2017! The covid pandemic brought the parts supply to a standstill which caused it to take much longer than expected.
The owner requested that we not modify the drivetrain, which was in pretty decent shape when we got it. However, we cleaned it up so that it fit the rest of the restoration.
We started with a custom 2 tone paint job. When we got the car it was white and black and we went with this olive green color to really make it pop!
From there we did custom upholstery and the interior. One cool feature on this project is the original 1929 steering wheel. We did not plan to keep it, but since we couldn't get a new one, it ended up being a tribute to the original car.
We also put together the convertible top the same way that Henry Ford did in 1929 so that it had an authentic feel. This included hand stitched and hand stuffed padding.

Love the Model A! It's great to see another one being put back on the road!
That was genuinely fun to watch. Can you make cold starts like this on everything carbureted you have? I'd love to see the starting procedures of literally everything. How many pumps of the gas pedal they take, choke, you name it. I love this!!!
My little deuce coupe?
Pretty cool to still see an old flathead running.
You don't know what I got.
The tracked model a was a super snow bird conversion primarily used for the post service.
Model, a,love
I believe in order: Model T, Volkswagen Beetle, then Toyota Corolla. I'd like to have the first two.
It looks like your headlight switch was installed incorrectly. When the headlights are off, the "handle" should be at 6 o'clock. Yours looks like it's at 9 o'clock. Pull the switch off the bottom of the column and remove the "spider" and rotate it 90º. That should fix it.
Maybe I had them switched on or something already but we have it installed correctly. It’s at 6 when off.
@@jeremybumpus1167 Excellent!
Dang. 1920's cars start rough. 😆
Model A
The model “T”15,000,000 produced
I have an early 1929 Model A Roadster that I got running about 16 months ago and it has always turned over extremely slowly when cold. The six volt battery is good so I am wondering if it is a starter issue or maybe the timing is a little advanced even with the lever at full retard. Otherwise it is a sweet little car and like the one in your video, is fun to drive and show off!

I guessed the wrong answer and then looked it up.
Yea it’s def not what you’d think it would be
Blinded by the Light? Is that the song?

Good video Jeremy, but you need a few shifting lessons. Unfortunately, you live too far away for me to help!
She was just being an ass for a second.

Do you think it's possible to do the video without the constant asinine joking? No?
Do you think it’s possible to not ask asinine questions? No?
