If you’re not sure whether you’ve fully hydrolocked your engine and turned it into a hunk of scrap metal, try to crank it a few times just to make sure.
I live in the driest state (South Australia) of the driest continent. Literally one actual river in our whole state (and our state is 4 times the size of Great Britain - we have, at most, 50% of the rainfall). Even I know not to drive through flood water that is fast flowing or that deep, and if I had to, it would be at less than walking pace.
What strikes me watching these videos a other than the display of sheer ignorance is that people cannot drive slowly. The ones who speed up as they hit the water are the worst.
I now understand why the standard of driving has declined over the last 30 years......... Nobody has any common sense....... I'll destroy my vehicle but hey I'm on UA-cam 😂😂😂
I find it odd that these days with all this information at our fingertips, people know nothing. Back in the 1970s, when I started driving, everybody knew how to drive through flood water. Same as they knew how to drive on ice and show, heck tyre chains were common. I'm amazed so many think foot down and it'll be fine. Especially with all the electronic stuff on modern cars.

love these videos, but I wonder why cant small bridges be built over these low areas? I mean I under stand you cant with the stone arch bridges since there are probably train tracks above them but other areas can
Yeah, there are standing jokes about my area because we all drive Discoverys etc, but autumn comes and the fords are two feet deep. Right tool for the job I say. But the best advice is still not to go through unless you really have to….

Hard-surfaced crossings through the water nowadays... Still don't understand what for. Couple of huge pipes or (arc bridge if pipes are too ugly), bit of elevation and these relics will not exist anymore.
So the van in 2” can easily get washed sideways blocking the water flow and getting pinned to the bridge , then the water backs up 5-6 foot deep… PEOPLE DROWN THAT WAY! Wellow ford Hampshire
A mobility scooter doesn't have an engine to get hydrolocked unlike that white van lol. Funny thr dude near the end worried about his shoes getting wet when his car is stuck in a couple of feet of water.
It's funny (or not) that drivers don't know what a hydrolock is and trying to start the angine could make some serious damage. And yet they try to start it multiple times although the sound clearly says - "I got water inside - help!"
There is just no hope for some people. You see people filming, people in hi vis, recovery trucks and parks trucks yet you go full balls deep in water. If i owned a company and you did that to my van, you can find another job and pay for it.
Now I ve seen so many vids showing Brits destroying their cars in water but I cant see the reason for it. Too much money? Very bad technical education? Just for fun?
Why do people think vehicles will go through not so deep water......rule of thumb is.....if you wouldn't walk through it yourself, don't drive through it.
I can't believe the idiots that attempt it, and then the engine stops and their like "oH lEts JuSt TuRn ThE eNgInE bAcK oN" as if it cut out because it got abit chilly in the water
I'm so baffled to understand why they think making a big splash and covering your vehicles bonnet in a sheet off water Is ok? Your engine Is not waterproof. Your vehicle I'd only designed to run rain water off your bonnet and body off your car
Always a good advert for a company when it’s employees kill an engine. Credit to get Silver Van who thought he was winning till it nearly gave up the ghost, what damage who knows. Would you take your £160 trainers through a puddle up to your ankles - No. But a twenty grand Car let’s give it a go through a flooded Ford or street - looking at you KAY……

Moreso terrified! Accelerator on the bastard scooter had probably shorted was jammed in the on postion.
The mobility scooter is officially now the "Ultimate Driving Machine"
Freude am fahren! 😁
Nice to see the indicators on the BMW getting a good work out
They require at least 5cm of water in them to activate, most BMW drivers forget to fill them.
If you’re approaching a flooded road and there’s people filming, I’d think that’s a pretty big clue that driving through isn’t a good idea
What strikes me watching these videos a other than the display of sheer ignorance is that people cannot drive slowly.
