- From a 1940 Ford Motor Company kit, this is Part 1 of a filmstrip produced for dealers and salesmen entitled "Mercury Meets His Namesake". It compares the 1940 Mercury 8 to other automobiles in the same class at the time, including a Pontiac and a Buick. It is a blend of live-action photography and cartoon-style artistry.
This presentation is uploaded for historical and archival purposes.
"Look at him go! In a minute I'll be believing in black magic!"
This video is an absolute gem.
Thanks. A very nice find, and in very good condition.
The opening and closing music: Toy Trumpet, by Raymond Scott
Some of my thoughts: 5:04 That art-deco style instrument panel looks very nice, and the two-spoke steering wheel enables a clearer view.
5:40 Push-button start in 1940! :) 9:43 Mercury knows what a jingle is? :)
