Thank you so much for this. I am turning 70, and just discovering these UA-cam great videos of music we dont hear anymore, in this new dark age we have entered, Love the sounds of these fabulous inventions.
I love the FaaaaaaaaaaaaaaBulos Fox! I'm so glad that Atlantians rallied together to save this grand movie palace. It is undoubtedly, The Pride of Atlanta!
I am so happy I was brought to this channel. This brings me back to my first theater organ pipe concert at the Embassy Theater in Fort Wayne, IN. As it arose from the depths its mighty open chords (played by Larry Merriman), brought me to my knees -- as I 'felt' the Voice of God that I remember so very clearly. I am grateful for the ATOS's keeping this beautiful instrument in play.
I was fortunate to attend what was supposed to be the "last" concert at the Fox when it was in danger of being torn down. The organist was Lynn Larkin I think, may have spelling wrong. Then after it was saved, a real event was Virgil Fox at the Fox! What a showman! Thanks for bring this to us.
A wonderful opportunity to listen to Mighty Moe by an expert at the keys. And to learn things I never knew about the organ just by watching and listening. Thank you Ken!
So this may be a little strange, but I like to listen to music while watching baseball on TV. The theater organ matched up with the game quite well and it sure beats hearing the announcers drone on with endless stats!
Thank you for putting this on UA-cam otherwise I might not have been so beautifully entertain this evening. I hope you will return when the organ is compete and give another concert.
Thanks Ken Double, Atlanta Chapter of ATOS and the Fox. Had the pleasure of being introduced to all by friend, Bucky Reddish. Reliving great music and memories.
I took two years of Organ in College, but was basically self-taught. I occasionally played for Church and a few weddings. But I wasn’t taught anything about ‘stops’, registrations, or pedal technique. So this was extremely educational for me! I hope to see more videos like this!
This pipe organ has the best sound! Thank you, Ken Double, for making it sound awesome. What a special gift to Atlanta in 1929! Hope more and more will appreciate the organ and your talent. Thank you!
Greetings from London! What a fabulous organ this is. It's extraordinary to think that nearly a century has passed since 'Mighty Mo' was first played in public. She sounds beyond superb and shines the light of beauty in what are rather dark days here in the UK. Thanks to you all. Peter A :) :) :)
Ken Double is a national treasure! Thank you, a very special member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society for making this historic feast for our ears possible. And, thank all of you at the Fox--from the Security Office to that of the Director's inner sanctum--for keeping Mighty Mo a supreme example of what is truly Fabulous about the Fox!
Hear, Here!!, As a fellow organist and transmission gooroo, I must agree...:) Much obliged for the efforts of all at the Fox,...you bring tremendous joy and peace to many. Now, I have to go get on my Kimball half-circle theatre machine, and raise the roof!! Thanks to all, ATM
Thanks sooo much for doing this! Going to the FOX as a child and hearing Mighty Mo played during intermission was what inspired me to take organ lessons from a great theater organist Ms. Hood in Chamblee when I was in high school, and later to minor in organ at Mercer Univ in Atlanta. This is soo much fun!!!!
I love this. Thank you so much for streaming this. I am a church organist and would LOVE one of these magnificent organs. The song choices are perfect! I should have been born when my grandparents were. They got married in 1930. They loved theater organ and played these songs in duet on organ and piano and singing. This concert was truly a gift! Wonderful!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I moved from Atlanta just after the 1996 Olympics but still visit when I can. I lived there 10 years and have fond memories of everything FOX theatre,;TOTS, summer movie series with the mighty mo, Phantom, Les Mis, the world premiere of Pocahontas with stage show, ... OMG... I was even a volunteer usher for a few years. I miss the Fox so much and thank you for this concert.
Fabulous, Ken! I spent many a Saturday morning sitting in that darkened auditorium listening to Bob Van Camp "practice" without a single score anywhere in view. Little did I realize that one day, he would become my boss at WSB!
This brings back great memories when my parents would bring my sister and I along while they ushered at the Fox. The Mighty Mo always fascinated me and was my favorite part of the before the show activities and the Summer Film series with sing alongs. Thanks for sharing.
I very many years ago I worked on the 3manual Wurlitzer which we installed in the Hotel El Panama. I have sense become handicapped, double, bilateral aka amputee.i so miss working and playing. I so enjoy, CLIff.
Fabulous to hear this wonderful music on this great instrument, performed by someone who was an old friend back when he was in Indiana. Ken certainly has an outstanding talent! Thanks to all involved in bringing this performance to the "web"!
So incredible to hear this magnificent instrument again. Seems like so long ago when we could attend an event. Would love to hear a Christmas concert this December, even if only 30 minutes long if that might be possible. Thanks for an incredible hour.
Thank you so much for streaming this concert! It made my day today when I found it. I came to the Fox Theatre all the time when I lived in Atlanta years ago and alway couldn't wait to hear the Mighty Mo.
Wow! Thank you so much for this great concert! I love theater organ so much, that I've been listening to every theater organ concert I can find on UA-cam. More concerts on youtube would be much appriciated!
Thank you. This was awesome. Since Bill Fields passed away, they have not done any on line events from Old Town Music Hall. In El Segundo. 😥 and I know they need donations to pay rent and electricity, water.
I've been in love with The Fox, and especially Mighty Mo since the early 1950's . We came to he Fox 2 or 3 times a month. I've been an organ nut since. I've heard alot of organs, and nothing sounds like Mighty Mo. There was a concert in the '80's around Thanksgiving when Mighty Mo was sporting the 4 huge pipes never completed. Wow!! Anyway, love the organ and The Fox.
Deepest appreciation for this magnificent concert - staggering sound exercising my hifi setup, expertly and sensitively played by a master. Thank you Ken Double and thank you Fox Theatre and the ‘Mighty Mo’. Keep the ‘temporary’ console; I think it’s better! Sydney Australia.
Ken, Marvelous! Thanks to the Atlanta ATOS and the Fox (on my bucket list) for this on the Sub Console! Wouldn’t it be great to keep both of them in the pit to make this a dual console rivaling RCMH! Anyway, thank you all!
Magnificent: the venue, the organ, the music, the commentary, the passion. I come from one of the countries mentioned, where theatre organ was important 'back in the days', and where preservation is important today: Australia. I have attended many Theatre Organ Society of Australia events and concerts.
Interestingly enough, the temporary console used in this performance has been up for sale on eBay for quite some time. Would love to pick that up to use as a MIDI controller 😂
Tremendous production! Great camera views! Audio was way down (more than 10db) but still gorgeous!!! Fox organ can not do anything other than gorgeous!!! Would love to hear those 64'ers! 🌹please, more baroque with the muscles Mo has. Perhaps some Buxtehude, please? Forget which year it was, but most memorable was a 4th of July set where the Washington Post March was played. As a vet, I can tell you there wasn't a dry place on my face anywhere! Standing ovation, and a reprise. SPECTACULAR!!!🔥❤ An old native Atlantan...
Thanks to Ken and everyone at the Fox Theatre for creating this superb concert! The sound recording and camera work is excellent. The pandemic has been a terrible tragedy, but if anything positive can be taken from it, it's the fact that it has given people around the world the opportunity to attend concerts in other countries (albeit virtually). I live in Great Britain and seeing this video has certainly made me want to visit the wonderful Atlanta Fox Theatre, the next time I'm in America.
Ty ken..for a nice program..we miss u in chicago..as u might know the arcda. Theatre is going through a 3mill restoration..by it its new building owner from st.charales.il..the owner dose want the organ restored..by c.a.t.o.e. f.y.i. I know u. Spent some time visiting there few yrs back..pls contac the new owner..there..your insight would be great..
Fantastic job! Fantastic sound! Just one thing I noticed: The audio level is like 12db LOW! I had to turn the volume knob on my stereo up to nearly full just to try to get a realistic experience. Other than that, it was great.
The company that recorded this was def sub-par. My dad recorded the orgAn at Radio City in NYC mamy times. He told me he had at least 150 micophones to record the sounds this amazing instruments creates. I remember going with him to help him lay cables to the mixer. He would have the performer play the piece a few times to know what pipes/percussion was going to be used. He recorded on (3) Ampex 24track machines that had intersync so he could mix down later. It was awesome to listen to after the mix. Also didnt hear much blow-by air from the pipes either. Shame these guys made it sound so crappy
@@rty1955 Wow! That sounds like a good setup for sure! Nowadays: Ahh, I'll just use my iPhone to record this pipe organ, who will care! LOL. I come from a recording background too. My Grandfather was a studio engineer @ RCA. He produced many of the RED SEAL LP's back in the day.
@@curtchase3730 my dad worked for NBC monitor radio and was hired by Dumont television network because of his live audio ability. Eventually became in charge of videotape operations due to his expertise in magnetic recording. I have over 750 reels of audiotape that i am digitizing for my family. I recently sold the last Ampex 24 track machines that he had, and i maintained. I do volunteer work at restoring Ampex 2" quad video tape machines
It's been way too many years since I've heard Mighty Mo in person, where the low tones of the giant bass pipes can make your lungs rattle while your spirits soar from this wonderous instrument!
Thank you so much for this. I am turning 70, and just discovering these UA-cam great videos of music we dont hear anymore, in this new dark age we have entered, Love the sounds of these fabulous inventions.
I love 💕 it and from Australia 🌏
MORE! MORE!! and THANKS!
I love the FaaaaaaaaaaaaaaBulos Fox!
I'm so glad that Atlantians rallied together to save this grand movie palace. It is undoubtedly, The Pride of Atlanta!
The Atlantians of YESTERYEAR, certainly not the "folks" that live there now!

Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Ken, that was absolutely fantastic. 99 year old Mom and older brother thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful presentation.
THANK YOU Ken and the Fox Theater for the opportunity enjoy the Mighty Mo during this time from Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

Lyn Larsen.
I would have given anything to be there for *Virgil Fox at the Fox!!!*
*What* a combo!
"Let loose the hounds!"
Wow...Lyn was the first player I ever heard. I was a little kid in Phoenix at the old Organ Stop Pizza.
A lovely concert showing the versatility of this wonderful organ and the talent of the organist
Ken Double, thank you for sharing your wonderful music and Mighty Mo! Love it!
A wonderful opportunity to listen to Mighty Moe by an expert at the keys. And to learn things I never knew about the organ just by watching and listening. Thank you Ken!
Super excellent with very good interesting video
Ken Double you play beautifully - and you're not a bad singer either! This is the most fun I've had in 6 months!!!
The main console must be in because I just saw the temporary one on Ebay!
Did it sell? And do you know where it went?
So this may be a little strange, but I like to listen to music while watching baseball on TV. The theater organ matched up with the game quite well and it sure beats hearing the announcers drone on with endless stats!

Just to say - your concert is appreciated in England - thanks to UA-cam and the Internet.

I always love watching the Might Mo coming up for a sing along during the movies.
A building of excitement for sure when the big magic gold box appears up & out of the pit!!!! 💜😎🙏

What an awesome experience to hear it live!
Wonderful show, Ken! Thank you to The Fabulous Fox Theatre for bringing Mighty ‘Mo to us since we can’t come visit ‘Mo right now.

Mighty Mo is truly unique! Hearing it in person is mezmerizing! I had the full experience at ATOS convention in 1978. What a thrill!
This is marvelous!
Worth a million bucks to hear this! To hear a proper concert like this on that fine instrument is one of the great pleasures of life. Thanks SO much.
This was fantastic! I really miss hearing the Mighty Mo before all of the shows. ❤️
This is fantastic! Thank you for the performance and the broadcast!
Thank you for this wonderful concert!!!!!!! Long live Mighty Mo!!!!!!
My Daughter, Lisa found this and we have been theater organ fans for years. I may be stuck in a time warp at age 81. Great sound.

The temporary console would make a killer Hauptwerk console hehe. And I say thank you for the music, the joy you're bringing.
Excellent show! Thank you Mr. Double and everyone else who worked to make this happen!
Brilliant, just Brilliant..BT UK
So incredible to hear this magnificent instrument again. Seems like so long ago when we could attend an event. Would love to hear a Christmas concert this December, even if only 30 minutes long if that might be possible. Thanks for an incredible hour.
Wonderful concert! Thank you!!!

Thank you so very much for this great music. Such beautiful music on such a great sounding organ but also the great musician.
Wonderful performance, well recorded. Ambience was captured nicely.

The tribute to George Wright by Ken is most appropriate as we celebrate what would have been Wright's one-hundredth birthday TODAY, August 28!
Thank you so much. Will be watching Christmas. Blessings!

Andy Fox watching from Birmingham, Alabama - “Tip Toe Thru the Tulips”!
I can’t believe this was installed on CHRISTMAS of 1929…that’s almost the very end of theatre organ’s relevance in the US lol
Fenians rainbow was my introduction to Broadway in an amateur production when I was in 3rd grade in 1952. Never forgot it.
Ken you are
