Kycks Mbappé might have an ego, but it definitely wasn't that which lost France their Euro 2020 Round of 16 ! France were simply not playing their normal football that night. Rafael Varane said that they lacked stuff in every aspect of the game. The team wasn't structured, teammates were arguing on the pitch, some players were not playing in their normal positions : this wasn't the team France is now. The fact they went to extra time and penalties was already a failure, given France's potential. That Euro Round of 16 was a super important game in the French team's history.

I listened to Big Sam's interview and I didn't think he came off as too outlandish. I think he was commenting more on his experience as a coach. Allardyce took Bolton from nothing in the early 2000s and used some advanced analytics/backroom staff to make a really decent side. Now he may not be above their level, but I don't have a problem with him considering himself to be a top coach. You have to back yourself in the end.
