- Walking the Camino de Santiago is an adventure full of pain and joy. This week while walking The Way, we encounter one of the most beautiful sections of the Camino Frances and stay in some of our favorite towns on the Camino. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of the footage from this week due to a backup malfunction. A big thank you to our Camino family for letting us borrow some iphone photos so we could show you the gorgeous city of Viana, at least a little.

I can't remember if we saw you guys on the Camino. My son Joe and I walked it starting on May 1st. This year was busy because it had been closed for a couple of years, so yeah it was difficult to find beds. We are headed back to do it again this coming May/June. Can't wait to get back there.
It was crazy busy. Thankfully it did get better after Leon. I don't remember if we met you either, but that's awesome you're going again! Buen Camino!
I'd suggest to use 2 sticks for balance to hips and body. Maybe it's too late?😢
Thank you for the suggestion. I did end up using Ryan's too when it got bad, and it did help a bit.
Travelling so light!
And most of Ryan's bag is camera equipment! We had everything we need though. We really didn't want for anything.

The reason why its busy is because May and September are the 2 busiest months
00:33 and that is the reason why we have chosen to stay in hotels. I would be punching them too Abbey No Vino on the Camino...Oh NO! Not for breakfast anyway, Great views of the landscape! Another great video. Thank you for taking us along.
Most mornings were ok, especially as you got further along, but we had one morning g where a whole group in our room got up at 330 and then took an hour to get ready and get out of the room!!

All our accommodation has been pre booked so we don't have to rush to our destination, which gives us time to enjoy the hike. Keep enjoying your adventure. It will be ours soon enough.

I don't think we ever got lost that I remember. I'm not sure what you're meaning, unless you mean finding albergues which is difficult in some of the towns, but we never got lost.
planning camino in april / may 20024 - want to be a "walk in pilgrim," now concerned that booking ahead might be essential. it takes away some of why I want to walk it. comments please
There was one stretch around Leon that was sticky! The rest of the way, I think you would be fine! Also, I truly believe 2023 was a post-covid anomaly with the numbers

Please note that donative are not free & its really important to pay for a staying donativo bec thats what they rely on to serve pilgrims.
Probably because all the Spanish pilgrims are walking now in July/August. This year for the first time ever, there are more foreigners than Spaniards walking the camino!
Yes. We started in April, and they were already recording record numbers. It was insane.
Regarding the “Donativo” hostels where there isn’t a fixed price but a donation is requested. This is not an excuse to give nothing or a small donation if you can afford to pay the going rate. What you pay funds the costs of the future pilgrims.

1.40 for a coffee isn't too bad? it is awful! Much better 7 or 8 dollars at a Starbucks in USA, and with a 30% tip added!
Umm yah no thanks!!! I think I went to a Starbucks once or twice, not only is it expensive, It's terrible!
