Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 3 new videos every week! Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

Susan Shanks I watched one video where the woman said ummmm every other word and her thought processes were all over the place. It took her so long to make one point. I did learn a couple of things but this lady is so much better. She’s thorough and good at teaching. I may have my nerve up to try this now.

Plain and simple, I have been canning since the mid 70's and if I can do it, so can you. My (then) wife was scared to death of the pressure canners as was her mom. She never got over it but she let me can all I needed to can. Veggies from the garden. Wild game, even fish and butchered meats, stews and pickles. Canning is fun and you know what you are eating. I just got a new 23 qt canner last season. It was my 4th canner. Here is a hint: when you buy a new canner, get 3-4 extra seals for that model. I have had to relegate 2 of my older canners to the soup line because the company has discontinued making the ones I need. If it can't seal, it is no longer a pressure canner.

    • @CassieDavis613

Your instructional videos are some of the best on the homesteading internet! Earlier this year, I inherited my grandmother's All American canner and we figured out from the serial# that it was manufactured in 1947! She has been gone for almost 15 years and I'm honored to have it now. I don't know what I'll use it to can first...I need to get some supplies, but I love the idea of not having to freeze all of my homemade soups and broth in the future. Thank you for this video. It was extremely helpful and motivating!

Sarah, you are a treasure! I saw my mother's pressure canner as a young child, blow up and hit the kitchen ceiling and have been terrified of them ever since. I only do water bath canning because of that experience. Your explanation was thorough and clear. You have relieved my fears tremendously and hope to buy one in the near future so that I have more options to preserve the food that I'm growing in my small urban garden. Thanks so much!

Being completely new to canning (I haven't canned yet! I've just sent my first water canner back, unused, because I realised I need a pressure canner 🤦🏼‍♀️) I've been watching hundreds of hours of videos like this. They usually drag on with pointless chat, or I can't stand the voice (shallow, I know, but whilst watching long videos you do notice it!) and I usually end up switching off before the end. This video was so informative, no pointless chat, and I was shocked when it came to the end that over 20 minutes had passed! Thank you so much 🙏. I'll be spending a lot more time on your videos in future 😁

This very nice to see a young person canning and showing so many people how to do it. Most people are a live today because they had to can their food because there was no electricity for freezers, coal and wood stoves, I learned from my mother 70 years ago and still can everything except chickens. You save money and it tastes better. I have 3 presto's and my favorite the all American 921 canner given to me 20 years ago by a old friend, GOD BLESS

People,,,, don't forget you can pressure cook meats in your canner as well. Those tuffer cuts of meat can be fall apart tender in no time. Your seasonings will be all the way through the meats. You cut down the cooking time considerably!! A pressure canner is not a one trick pony!!!
Sarah, I am so glad to see people teaching/passing along this knowledge! I was raised up with with canning/pressure cooking as a staple. Those fish with y bones in there fillet, just pressure can or pressure cook and the bones just crumble up, just like those canned in grocery store. If you like street tacos (who doesn't right), you just pressure cook your meats (goat, beef, or wild game) and you have great fall apart meats for taco Tuesday. Time saver aswell, cook larger cuts for several meals. Sorry for being so long winded, just it's a great tool most homemakers, homesteaders, or those on a tight budget don't think to use. Keep up the GREAT WORK Sarah!!!
