Midge soup! Yummy 😋 We even get a bit of Thin Lizzy - brings back memories of the Bell Inn 🔔 Newton Abbott? I fell off stage playing the Boys are back in town and drum kit fell on top of me. The song brings the memory back every time. I always enjoy your videos thanks for posting Kerry.
Aviemore and the Cairngorms were my annual holidays when a kid, the drive from Peterborough to Glenmore campsite seemed to take a lifetime 😸 Loch Morlich was beautiful, hiring canoes and feeling dread as the water went so dark the further you went out! Thanks for the upload and memory jolts!!
Kerry, that was blooming marvellous! What an amazing trail. It did look challenging at times but so beautiful, and those mountain ranges! Wow! However, I'm not sure about the communal toilets...eek! But otherwise, a nice bothy! Great video, and a very enjoyable and entertaining watch. Thank you.
15:26 Magical. Just the best time to wake up at the height of summer in Scotland. Misty morning, just knowing that theres some blazing sunshine round the corner. Nice vid.
Oh Kerry that was absolutely fabulous and brought back so many memories 😪 that boulder field ugh!!! but the stunning scenery although we didn't have it quite as hot as you but dry and sunny. We climbed either Ben Macdui or Braerich then went via Derry Lodge back to Loch Morlich. Would love to do the falls of Tarf they looked spectacular as did Blair Atholl.
👍😁👍🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏴 WoW Absolutley stunning trail from start to finish. Steve is a legend.. Everyone did extremely well as it is a tough mountain pass to do.. It's right up there on my " to hike " list now. Thanks kerry and all fir sharing the adventure.. Enjoy the Bob Graham round kerry 😁
@Steve Emberton You've all been smashing them trails Steve's.. It's just a shame I can't join in at the moment, only met kerry once during a peak district day hike ( which was brilliant, and cold 🤣 ) but I'm short on holidays left I can take at work and busy house hunting.. But always watch the videos 😁👍 and one day I can join the gang on a weekender or week long trek ?.. Keep going Steve doing very well indeed. I had a spinal operation almost two years ago now with long standing spinal cord issues so I'm aware of back pains etc.. Just need to keep active as much as we can 👍😁
22C is about my max, anything hotter I am totally wasted. Rocky old trail mind and those boulder fields looked well sketchy but stunning scenery and a canny pull to get to the bothy. Mist and bog on day 2 cleared to leave some more stunning views and what a great refurbishment at the second bothy, although not that keen on the communal toilets. The Falls were amazing, what a place to pitch for the night, rampant rodents apart that is! Well done to you all for completing the trail, a fitting end to a great hike, cheers Alan
Thanks Alan, yes a wonderful trail 😁 I’ve just got back from the lakes, your stomping ground! Although I didn’t finish the trail due to injury I loved spending time there and found some excellent wild camping spots!! Xx
@@DrunkOnWanderlust thanks Kerry - waiting on seeing the fracture clinic again and looking forward to properly getting back on it! Hope your knees heal soon x
Not a legend just doing my best to enjoy life and maybe inspire a few of a the older generation to get off their sofas and get hiking. You’re never too old.
You all had so much fun this looked an amazing trail I need to look it up. What a laugh. I think you chose well going straight to Blair Atholl it's great for a pint 😂. Well done everyone
@@DrunkOnWanderlust is your next 1 not the cape wrath trail 😮 would be amazing. I have also fallen out with the cateran trail after everyone doing it invaded my camp a couple of weeks ago.
Love Aviemore! Nice broken gate of the week Steven! Yes 22C is very warm. We have just done two long walks in mid 20s, very challenging! Cracking weather for Scotland. Smashing views up there, so green. Reminds me of Asturias. The boulder fields looked tricky with all your gear. Nice rock bothy! Thats some distance on this day! The weather looks a lot nicer to start the next day. Yikes some treacherous boggy sections. The red house bothy look immaculate. Communal toilets, yikes! Hope your having fun in the Lakes! A stunning trail that 👍
Ahh yes it was so lovely 😊 I have realised the communal toilets are not meant as that, they are composting so you have options to use the least filled one each time 🙈 that’s why there are multiple options! Always learning something new x hope you are both ok, going to watch your Skegness vid later, I used to live and work as Ents manager at southview holiday park in Skegness so will be fun seeing the town again x
lucky with the weather, great to see you all in such high spirits and enjoying yourselves so much, it's a very beautiful, arduous yet worthwhile hike to undertake. Would be nice to see a bit about whats going on in your tents and what gear you's are using That would be interesting to know what difference there is in your gear choices and why. What your all eating etc. It can be difficult to be out of signal and contact but those moments are really precious Log them in your memory You will always appreciate nights under canvas like that. All in all a brilliant video Loved the tid bits of info Bothy locations etc. Superb well done all. 👍
Yes true, i will try and include some more camp life footage on the tour du Mont Blanc, I know the guys really well who I am doing that one with and they won’t mind me shoving my camera in their tents 👌🏻😃
Kerry, I was told if you want to leave a message for somebody. Then do the message as your voice mail welcome (when you get a bit of a signal) then if they call you even if your phones not on they get the message via the cloud service. Its also handy to tell somebody where you should be that night . Another fantastic video, just wish I was younger and didnt have COPD ( due to smoking).
Well done guys good effort all round. Why the trail is not well known the Larig Ghru is, by every Munroe bagger, 7 summits over 3000ft. However they usually start from Braemar. Hope you are enjoying the BG round, crack on Lady.
Hey you!! I’m back home safe and sound, sustained knee injuries so couldn’t finish unfortunately but hoping they heal soon ready for the alps next month lol x
Do your trails have to be mountainous? If not, you should do the Hebridean way. It’s mostly flat apart from Harris. But the scenery will blow you away, especially if you get weather like it has been lately 😍
Cracking route isn't it 👍 I walked it the other way around at the end of July. I'd camped at The Falls of Tarf earlier in the year so I walked on to camp at the Bynack Lodge ruins (about a mile south of Red House Bothy). The Falls of Tarf is a lovely spot though. I made a boo boo the second day, I visited Corrour Bothy to use "the facilities." After some thought I decided not to camp there ... oops. So I found myself pitching up in Rothiemurchus at 10pm 😢 You live and learn 😂 Aviemore train station was a welcome sight 😅
Gosh you had great weather. I did the Lairg Ghru some years ago and also camped at the Corrour Bothy. Like you, the boulder field crossings were hard work with a full pack. Brilliant scenery makes up for it though.
*_In my opinion, Lairig Ghru is very good and has a recommendation value for adventure hiking, trail running and camping activities of course, the trekking paths are very clear, water sources and other natural supports, I like this location, if I am in Scotland, I will definitely take the time to camp there Lairig Ghru... , I like this video and channel... There are several toilets so they can spread the use to allow for them to compost. Not communal unless in an emergency lol
