  • The birth of the Ateca has huge symbolic significance. Firstly, it confirms that the rise of the SUV continues unabated with brands like SEAT, Alfa Romeo and Maserati rushing to join the party.
    The second is that SEAT is in rude health and has the full trust and backing of parent group Volkswagen, no longer the recipient of discontinued rebadged Audi models.
    But can SEAT repay the trust and investment and how can it put its own spin on the already tried and tested compact SUV Class.

    Cracking review. Funnily enough, it was a toss up between the Ateca and the 3008 for me and I have ordered a 3008. I only do about 3000 miles a year now, virtually all of it town or motorway, so my priority was comfort and an auto gearbox, I use the M6 - enough said.

    I considered this car 3 years ago but my lease budget just wouldn't stretch far enough so I got a Skoda Octavia instead! Now I'm in a higher pay grade and I got the opportunity to take my coworkers Ateca who is going to work somewhere else. Will be looking at it tomorrow but I'm quite sure nothing will change my mind!

    Mathew is 100% up there as one of the best reviewers. He’s un fussy and factual without being boring. Ateca v Koraq seems such a tight match. Personally prefer Skoda but price with head on should come first. Tiguan just looks over priced in comparison. Buy the badge if you must. Ridiculous really.

    Ummmm you sure about that being the best? Bought a 68 plate. Wipers didn't work correctly, lumbar support was pretty much non existent. Garage tried twice to fix wiper issue( on intermittent setting with the auto wipers turned off, was on only constantly!! )... Not right !!! They fitted a new wiper stalk, re programmed, did not fix it. Fitted a new c p u , re programmed and still did not fix the known problem. Then they wanted to take dash apart and check wiring circuits, under SEAT instruction.... Ummm no thanks guys, you have had your chance.... 😀Have it back. After waiting for months, even just to get a representative to be assigned to the case.... Oh yeah, and I still had to be paying the monthly direct debit. I have now had the vehicle taken back and sold on through auction I believe. Good luck to the new owner. The selling dealership did not want to take the car back ????....🤔🤔 finally got a refund under the " new car code" it pays to be armed with info and push for what you believe to be right and honest.
    Good looking car and drove alright, just I would not recommend the service and experience 😔😔

    Thanks for the review. I prefer the look of the new Skoda Karoq , both internally and externally. It will be interesting to see how the two compare.

    I have ordered (in France) an Ateca (20/12/2016) and I'm still waiting (01/08/2017).
    The internet forums (UK, France and others) have, highlighted this problem since the car was first available (or not!)
    A great car but pin your dealer down to a delivery date and then expect it to change.
    SEAT needs to get a grip.

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  6 років тому

      Roger Bingham speaking about this with SEAT at the Ibiza launch recently and they say that demand is completely outstripping supply.
      The firm either didn't expect the Ateca to be this popular or have planned poorly for it.
      The UK is apparently suffering more as left hand drive models take preference. It's interesting (not for you perhaps) that even left hand drive deliveries are suffering too.
      The feedback on our recent LEON review has been very similar with delays.
      SEAT will need it sort this out quickly as all its recent good work could quickly be undone.
      Good luck in getting you Ateca.

    With the one exception of the Exeo what other SEAT has ever been a rebadged Audi? They've always mostly had their own models. Mii/Citygo/Up triplets and Sharan/Alhambra twins. None of them exist as Audi models either. Even if all the VAG parts underneath are the same

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 років тому +1

      Hi and thanks for the note.
      It has been widely accepted that SEAT has been shopping in the VAG parts bin for many years and has had, on times, a very uncertain future with limited investment.
      The message here is that this has changed and SEAT is on the up. The new Ibiza, for example, will be the first car in the group to use the MQB-A0 platform. Something almost unheard of for SEAT.
      In a brief and succinct way, that's what we were trying to get across without rambling.
      BTW - the Mk1 Leon got an A3 derived interior.
      All the best
      D.S.

      Could you imagine, an SUV that drives this well with the i-Cockpit. SUV nirvana. So, space in the market still then. Who will step up?

  • @Benzknees

    I don't get it. It shows every sign of being a jacked up Leon, costing more, with worse handling, worse aerodynamics, worse acceleration and worse fuel economy, but with the same floor pan so no more space unless you count those few waste inches above your head. And it's not 4WD so won't be any better off road. Is it just another smoke and mirrors way to extract more money out of gullible consumers?

    • @xnick007
      @xnick007 6 років тому +1

      it has a good sitting position and more pleasant to step in. if you aren't too short you'll notice it. it has higher road clearance. and after all it looks good. looks sturdier than a leon.

      Aldi make cars.
      Brillaint.
      They should really make more of that.
