I’m just still in shock that we consider 1 ct - 1.5 ct small lol. It’s kinda sad really. It also is a great disservice to the true art of gemmology. What we value these days isn’t always valuable. That is no shade to you, however, because I think the work you do is just stunning and top notch. More of an observation to how much we’ve progressed into the bigger is better mindset, and nothing could be further from the truth if you want an appreciating asset within your budget.
Yep completely agree. We just went engagement ring shopping and I didn’t want anything bigger than 0.5 carat. I have tiny fingers and I think massive rocks can look gaudy!
I think it’s more of a personal preference. Plenty of women still like smaller diamonds. But with the rise of lab diamonds (and moissanite), women now have the opportunity to purchase larger stones at the same cost or cheaper. Neither side is wrong or right. Whatever makes you happy.
Diamonds are not assets. They will never appreciate. They will always be worth half what you paid if not worse. Their value may go up with inflation, but so does the value of a roll of toilet paper.
In what universe is a one ct ring small? When I got married 20 years ago my 1.25 ct was considered large. I’m so glad I have an antique ring with old mine cut diamond. Antique rings with hand cut diamonds reflect true artistry of the person who designed the setting and cut the diamond.
Yes! I'm a lady who prefers the 1.0-1.5 carat size diamonds of excellent quality. The bigger stones are beautiful too, but the size diamonds in this video - love it! It's also a much more affordable size for most of us - especially when earth mined. I really enjoyed the seeing the beautiful rings and excellent craftsmanship. Thank you!
I’m so happy you made this video on smaller ct oval! Looking to upgrade my ring next year but still with a small diamond. I could only hope it’ll be by Bonnie. :) Hope you make more videos on 1.25-1.5ct diamond engagement rings. 😊
Definitely! Our viewers wanted to see smaller carat and we heard them. I'm glad you liked it! Sure, we will be here to help. Don't forget to watch the end bonus clip where we showed more smaller carat rings! Enjoy ❤
This video made me so happy. She LITERALLY said if you wanna make your small diamond appear larger, to go with a longer ratio diamond! I have a long ratio emerald on a 1.20 carat diamond. To be more precise, I have a L: 8.83, W: 4.68, T: 2.78, so this solidifies that I made the right decision. Thank you, Bonnie!!!! 😂❤🎉
I love it! My emerald cut is 6.53 length and 4.85W (despite being a 1.01ct….it’s deep tho….3.28mm). I’m adding a semi-eclipse hall that has round diamonds so it’s going to be more like a 8.53mm
I love seeing smaller carat sizes! I don’t dress so fancy very often and am usually in athleisure or super casual, so a smaller solitaire stone would probably best match the vibe. It’s also just more affordable for people! ❤
I personally don't think 1.25ct is considered small but that is because my original engagement ring diamond is "only" 1 ct (very good quality though) 10+ years ago. No wonder man-made diamond is gaining popularity because people now want larger stones. I'd love to see "smaller" diamond pairing idea from you. Maybe with more than 1 band and more creative. Imagine the possibilities
It has definitely changed since lab grown diamonds were introduced. 😅 We love diamonds in all carat sizes! If the craftsmanship is done right, it will sparkle no matter what 😊
Beautiful ring! I inherited a 1.2 stone from my grandmother, I was diapointed to find out that I couldnt purchse the setting by its self when I spoke to a representative today. 😞 I sure would love to have it for my family heirloom and my new bride. It would have been the perfect ring.
The size ranges in this video are far more refined and elegant than the larger ones. Also, royalty most often use sapphires for engagement rings as they are rarer than diamonds. Still, I know people love their diamonds.
I feel like 1.5-2 ct for all shapes (depending on dimensions) is the perfect size for someone with an average sized hand that wants to look beautiful and timeless forever! I never wanted anything too large that looked fake or overdone in my social circle.
I'm so glad you brought up social circle! It's definitely a concern for many of my clients when they shop for a ring. A lot of my clients don't want to "stand out" too much and want something more subtle. Thanks for stopping by ❤
I really thought I wanted maximum 2 carats elongated diamond. I wanted to be “modest” and not show it off. So my boyfriend and I went to a jeweler, picked out a stone that was 2.09 carats, paid the deposit. I took several photos of the original setting I decided on. But the more I looked at those photos, the more I realized that the stone looked small and almost funny against my long fingers. Maybe because I wore so many cheap jewelry from Forever21 in my 20s haha! It honestly reminded me of that. So the next day I asked for a bigger stone. It was still within budget. I got a 3.01 and quite frankly I still could have gone up to 3.5, maybe even a 4 carat. I picked a pillowy elongated cushion brilliant. Have never looked back on a smaller carat since. To each their own but definitely be open-minded. Go for what you really love.
Thanks for sharing your story! It's definitely to each its own type situation. I loved making this ring but I also love big diamonds 😂 I think I enjoy both depending on the occasion. But congratulations to you 🎉 Happy to hear you are enjoying your ring! ❤
I love seeing smaller rings like mine! The big bling is fun to watch but wasn’t practical for me, so it’s nice to see others feeling the same. I bet there are a lot of viewers who are getting inspired by this video!
😂 I was WAITING for someone from Europe to comment that "1 carat isn't small!" ❤ I know, here in the US is a little different 😂 Regardless of that, what an exciting time for you! Good luck with it and sending positive energy. Thank you for stopping by ❤❤
Is 1.5 Ct oval and 1.7 mm band a “danger”-zone? I have small hands (wear xs gloves in healthcare) but I am a busy-handed person. I love the way “narrow” and solitaire bands look because they don’t overpower my finger… but I don’t want to sacrifice durability.
I want to upgrade my engagement ring. I know i want a oval like the 2ct and 3ct. Im probably going to upgrade both wedding band and engagement ring. But i dont know what style looks good. I like the marquise wedding band. But the engagement rings im looking at the band is 2mm on the 2 and 3ct. So my question is what mm do i need in a wedding band. Thanks alot.
Good points. I use to want 2 carats minimum but I feel 1.25 would suit me best for everyday wear. Can you please advise what band thickness would be best for that 1.25 oval ring?

Hi Bonnie! If you don’t mind me asking, what were the measurements for the oval stone? I’m a size 4.75 and am super curious as to what length and width would have that amount of coverage on a 5.5 sized finger like yours. It’s honestly amazing how proportional it looks on you!
@@ByBonnieJewelry Thank you so much for replying, you have no idea how much I appreciate it! Loving the "smaller" rings! I have a 1.24 oval and it looks like a decent size on my size 4 fingers! Any bigger and it'd be too showy/ costume jewellery and get in the way of being able to wear it daily. I LOVE how you mentioned that being a D colour that the all gold doesn't really change its colour. Size inflation is a thing. I went from 1.5 to 4.25 and now my 1.5 seems smallish.
I know lots of people that think anything over 1 carat is really big! This was super fun to see!!

You can with moissanite, if you'd prefer a large stone.
