My family car is a Talon X4. It sees mostly AZ and UT rock crawling. Low gear is not even close to low enough. Do the 25% reduction from Reduction Boss and make a video about the install. 🙂 Love the channel and love the trail rides!
Very good video! Keep making talon videos!
Love my Talon X on 32's for the mud and trails! Two years of abuse and NOTHING has broke! I have a couple of videos on my channel. Keep those videos coming brother!
Great video, totally agree with this I’ve had my talon R for 2 years and gauge relocation and a custom cage are a must seating location sucks and the gears are to high for low range ,love the talon vids …..thanks
Good vid! A lot of good points on the Talon. I have a Turbo on one of our Talons and it is crazy how much better it makes the machine. You guys need to (if you haven't yet) drive one with a turbo on it....tons of fun!!)
Awesome to hear you say how reliable the talon and the krx are in stock form! Thank you for being honest in your videos! Helps people a lot when buying a new machine
There are 4 KRX in my group of 15 or 20 machines. Mostly seem very reliable, but not always. My buddy's (2021?) was slipping out of gear, luckily he had the extended warranty, was going to be a grand or two to repair, then they couldn't get the axles out, ended up breaking something big in the process, ends up being a near $5k repair, so not 100% reliable, though the other 3 have had no problems that I know of.
@@jaya8352 I agree they are not perfect nor 100% reliable, the one thing that always seems to be an issue is the radiator fan. But most of the time they have very little or no issues.
Cool video, I agree with most of the points, we love our 1000R, but turning radius and low gear not low enough would be my main complaints. Love most of it, but I don't ride as hard as you guys do.
Cool video. Just got a brand new maverick rs x turbo rr and after coming from a 17 rzr turbo xp the first thing I noticed was how wide the bottom is. One light trip in the trails and already scratched both sides near the bottom. The rzr was much more nimble but I’m looking forward to my first dune ride for the real benefit of the x3
I used to comment on your guys videos when you first got the talon back when i had my 21 talon r. I quickly came to hate it and ended up selling it for a pro xp. Which i ended up doing a full l&w suspension mud build on. Now we’re looking at buying a second pro xp and doing the l&w long travel and building a hill buggy to ride like you guys and run the mud build bounty holes only. I don’t think I’ll ever have another Honda anything after my talon experience
I’ve got a locker, 4” portals, 35 zillas, Erin’s driveshaft and full suspension. It’s one hell of a crawler
Nice vid fellas!
For this to be Honda's first go at a sport SXS is absolutely incredible. And people say with the Turbo Kit that it's the best SXS on the market. Can't wait to see the new one in 2024
After I tuned my talon I noticed a better throttle response, doesn’t bog on 32’s anymore. My only 2 complaints are turning radius and suspension. Besides that it’s gone up everything I’ve pointed at.
great vid. thanks again!
@text-7955 Thank you!
You guys mentioned switching from auto to manual on the fly but you don't even need to switch it on the dash. If you hit the paddles it's in manual mode for a few minutes with gear selected on the screen.
Had one and then got a KRX. Things I miss with my Talon but overall I’m happier with the KRX.
More Talon videos please!!!!
I pretty much agree with everything you guys said… To add they need up the rev. To 10.5 it’s like right when u get to 8grand it’s just starting get in that power but then boom u at rev limiter. Need do better job on air intake. And if they bump the hp up to 115 120 it be a monster with rev to 10.5….
Loved my Talon R, bought it for the transmission and Honda reliability. Then dumped a ton of money into trying to get the suspension dialed in and a little more power out of it. Even with Shock Therapy springs and valving it still rode terrible. Eventually I realized Honda made the best side by side money could buy for 2013. Too bad it wasn’t released until 2019 and by then others passed them by. My 2022 X3 XRS RR is light years ahead in the ride comfort and power. Miss grabbing gears though.
You're comparing a "mid range" sport SxS (Talon) to the absolute top of the line competitor. Not even apples to apples man.
I'm gonna throw in my XX ...its been reliable with diff lock
The bogging is from torque management. You can get around it some what with i4wd bypass because the ecm will think you are in 2wd. Although it still has active torque management in 2wd, it’s not as conservative.
Buddy has a talon and he hits stuff like a wild man and it just takes it. If I didn't have a x3 I would have got a talon.
Hello
how have you held off from ripping the sxs around your yard
especially after a few cold ones
"The other half is flooring it and see where you end up" HELL YEA
Great stuff fellas! Ya know....maybe you would break less axles if you did 4 inch portals and 35s ;-)
I bet that would solve most of the issues on that ride haha. Plus would look killer on them
The dash on the 22s was relocated above the steering wheel where your programmer is mounted. looking at the dash from outside it looks like and an afterthought which it is. Sitting inside it looks fine. It's basically the same as the KRX. I really dislike that the little bump out in the front fender sticks out past the stock tire and will catch a garage door opening and trying to look back out the door with the nets dropped is a near impossible.
Little late, but would u guys recommend a gear reduction and a bov on the talon? Thanks in advance!
Thanks
Get an rmax if you want the option of crawl/trail/ or sport mode all you need to do is buy the switch it’s already wired under the dash. Hondas ride rough and bounce a lot in the rear like the yxz.
Club limiter never leaves your blood. And yes the 2022’s have the dash in front of the driver.
I'm 6'4" 270 I have a X3 rc love the room hate the noise my son has a talon I really like it but it's doesn't have the cab room other than that I would go to a talon in a heartbeat if they would add a little more cab room
x3 turbo base about the same price. I like both but think i'd take the base model can am, which is easy to upgrade to 200 - 235hp reliably.
Agreed. But you have a visco diff, and base model shocks. So it's a trade off for sure.
I was thinking base model turbo x3 for that price as well. Honda still good bang for buck.
@@WDTOOffRoad base comes with smart lok now for 22
@@oicu81b42eh good call hadn't noticed that!
When's the 2trak shaft going in? Be nice to see the install
Hoping to throw it in before the windrock trip
Man kwi and float mod and I get crazy long belt life.
I can’t get behind the people who say the talon doesn’t handle well. I have an X4 live valve and I literally beat the hell out of it. It takes everything I’ve thrown at it. It’s not the fastest, but how fast do you need to go? I’ve never had a problem keeping up, and I usually end up passing my buddies in can-ams and Rzrs because they back off the throttle.
It fits in my trailer with room for the bikes, and it crawls up hills like a Billy goat. I’ll put 30’s on it when the OEM’s wear out and drive it till the shells blow off…
How would it do with Portals and 35's
I can say with experience, the Honda Talon X4 is a rough riding sob when compared to a rzr or KRX 4.
I don't get it. My X4 (Live Valve) rides great. Granted, I never tried stock tires and have been on 32's from day one. It's stiffer than a RZR/X3 but it is 10x smoother than a utility sxs and 20x smoother than a Jeep. Also, the major "oh sh*ts" I've just rolled right over at 50mph amaze me.
I love my Honda
What would be your pick between a 2019 or later yxz and the talon R?
Talon for sure
They are both outdated and not competitive with the other machines.
You picked both of the worst.
Cant beat a Honda’s reliability.
I want to drive one
Motocross forever bros!!!!!!
Let’s go golf cart
Flooring it and see where you end up 🤣🤣 I got an xp1k, so that sounds like an absolutely terrible decision 🤣
I’ll stick with my x3 XRS 2 seat
I’ll never understand how people trust a machine they aren’t sure will even be four wheel drive when they need it. That’s absolutely unacceptable in the rest of the off-road world. People bashed can am for a decade before they started offering real 4x4 yet everybody wants to defend Honda. Also it’s easy to be reliable at 100hp, I’ve never seen a talon I was impressed with
Reduction Boss internal gear reduction
Hess 4x4 override 😉
The company is called Reduction Boss. It reduces by 25%.
I’d buy a YXZ! 😉
Dude looks like Jack Black lol
It’s close to a base model 2 seater krx. But wouldn’t trade one krx for 2 talons lol
Boring. KRX is the most boring SXS on the market. If you're 90 with horrible hemorrhoids then I guess you can make a good case for the KRX. Yeah, they crawl well but so what. Talons are fun in every terrain. Desert, dunes, trails, rocks, whatever. Drive a Talon, they're super fun.
@@theingobeck4772 talon sucks on rough stuff. Beats yours balls in if you have any. Probably why you don’t get it
How are ppl making 35k to throw around on sxs n stuff it's crazy
Get a Hess i 4wd delete for it much better
I've seen mixed reviews on the I-4WD bypass. Im curious, how does has it effected your crawling and low speed operation (0-15 mph)?
I can send you a gauge relocate for free if you would like to install one. Hit me up if you are interested.
You keep saying riding. SXS is not riding its driving
American flag on the hood of a Honda.........bruh ?
It’s made in the USA.
