@@fernoFURRY they’re probably only adding all this stuff now because they know they’re in hot water with the community right now (lawsuits, poor updates, mismanagement etc)
While I think all these additions to hot biomes are a prime opportunity to do the updates to the Desert, Savanna and Badlands. I wouldn’t count the new Cactus flower as what was supposed to go with the vulture. That was a whole new kind of cactus with branches that also has flowers. I would still want that to come to the game as well. Prickly pear cactus or whatever.
You’re absolutely right! What they showed off was a cactus with cactus fruit, not a flower. None of the features proposed from the left over losing biome votes have been introduced yet.
The concepts we've seen brought from biome votes to the game before have changed a lot when they made it in. I think this is their way of incorporating that concept.
@ it ain’t, the cactus fruit was promoted not the flower. The flower is a completely new addition. None of the left over losing biome votes features have been incorporated yet. If they did, they’d set expectations for the others, which they might not want to do until they get all of them ready for a snapshot. So if they have everything from the badlands stuff ready, they’ll put it into a singular snapshot, same goes for desert & savanna.
@ I really don’t think so. This is just a flower, that was a whole new cactus type. The vote one wasn’t about just the flowers, it had branches and many little flowers on it. If anything the new cactus flower would just help bridge the gap in look between the current cactus and the new cactus.
@dakotaraptorr Cows should have different leather, and give the Horse its own leather as well, and Rabbits should have their own hide textures too, but thats starting to add allot of duplicate items.
And then add vultures and boom you have 5 types of feathers to give your arrows. Vulture feathers give an arrow longer range before it arcs, parrot feathers does something peaceful (think musical tone and/or low damage), and then the chicken feathers… I do not know lol
@@Gamingturtle090 Not exactly for there is 5 parrot colours and if the Chicken's get their own colour then Parrots get their own colours. So adding the vultures you get 9 feather types.
I know it may be hard to tell from just the images shown, but the cactus in the badlands update wasn't flowering, it was bearing fruit, the prickly pear. It's a different type of cactus entirely with flat pads that jut out instead of a single (or multiple) thick, cylindrical stalks. They do flower, but not for very long, and they don't look like that
People shouldnt be treating the cactus flower as the badlands update! The badlands update doesnt even have flowers, those little red things are prickly pear fruits. I've been waiting years for this and don't want anything less at this point! If we act like these flowers are good enough than mojang will hear and possibly never add the whole new cactus and real prickly pear we were supposed to get! Besides that, great video!
In the feedback site all the features from the biome votes are marked as "announced" and if i recall correctly, they always said we vote which biome they update *first*
adding vultures would be so cool!!! it could also give more awareness to the dire situation a large amount of vulture species are in as well (for reference, of the 23 extant species of vulture, 9 of them are critically endangered and only 8 are least concern)
Just wanna say Vultures are Carrion (corpse) feeders so you could tame/befriend using rotten flesh. Plus they could be a friendly flying mob that can do damage (even though they dont like conflict in real life) that would target phantoms, zombies, husks and skeletons specifically, and or possibly acting like a cat for creepers by frightening undead mobs (excluding the warden) away from them. They could also be found circling large groups of the undead.
Good ideas (realistic ones too), but what about something involving player/mob death? Minecraft Ideas Academy has a video proposing that a tamed vulture can guard player’s loot, preventing despawing, and attacking nearby mobs allowing easier recovery. Idk about that idea specifically, but it’s some interesting food for thought.
@dakotaraptorr If falcons get implemented, I think controlling them with a “falconry glove” item would be cool. It can be acquired like the saddle, in chests, fishing, and through leatherworkers.
Yeah I think the whole different feather colored idea isn’t a good one as it adds clutter & many items, leather like u said, aren’t in different variants. So what we have for chickens isn’t inconsistent.
Yeah, honestly I'm surprised they even made different colored eggs. Minecraft has never made logical sense biologically; chickens lay eggs as well as give live birth, all mobs are seemingly both male and female, oak trees produce apples, et cetera. No one would question eggs spawning a chicken that matches the biome rather than the parents (that's how it work for frogs) so it's odd that they chose to make it that way and add 2 more seemingly uneeded items....since if you wanted to maintain an out of biome breed, you can still do it the normal way and have them give live birth to a genetically similar one.
None of the features from the left over losing biome votes have been added! The cactus flower weren’t what was promoted with the badlands change. It would’ve been a new cactus with fruits. I do hope we get the warm biome losers as they fit quite well with the drop, but this is a little misleading. Since they’re two different features.
@ “left over”, I’m referring to the losers that haven’t yet been added, & this new cactus flower wasn’t what was promoted for the badlands update. They’ve been playing catch up since caves & cliffs over-promising & the pandemic. isn’t it convenient that we’re seeing things ppl wanted for the wild update & that had to get delayed all of sudden (bundles & fireflies). that’s just game development in a nutshell, & I’m just happy we’re getting them at all.
@@robertoalexandermendezmore408 yeah, but none of the features have been added. which is why I’m correcting toy-cat that the flower for the cactus wasn’t tied to the badlands set of new features.
Cold sheep could add a "course wool" that would be used for other recipes, perhaps even a new brigandine armor group. I stand by my joke that the warm sheep should just drop carpets.
The thing about the biome votes though is different. Unlike the mob votes, they did promise that all the features of the biome votes would come to the game eventually. Not go in the infamous ideas bin. They are confirmed features. The vote was for which would be prioritized to come first.
I feel like they're honestly going to do an entire drop focused on birds in the future. There's definitely a decent amount of devs at Mojang who are interested in adding birds, or just like birds in general.
They said at the time of the biome vote that they were all going to get added. They said that the vote was to decide the order. Also I think a cool feature for the vulture would be that it's passive until you drop below 3 hunger haunches and then it becomes hostile.
Hey toycat, to answer your question about fletcher chest eggs, I can confirm that all village biome types can only contain the regular eggs, as they all share the same loot table which has remained untouched
I'm fine with the feather being the same for now but if they ever want to add functionality to the fletching table finally, having different feathers give different arrow effects would be neat. What if the cold chicken feather gave you an almost straight shot, but they don't last long in the air and despawn after a certain time traveled, the warm chicken feather made the arrow fly for longer in a slightly more stable arch. And the temperate feather is the arrow trajectory we're all used to.
Alright I haven't seen anyone else make this guess but we're bound to see some more foliage and ambiance in the snowy/colder biomes. We have the warm, cold and temperate farm animals. They've "updated" the more temperate biomes with the bush and firefly bush/ambiance and they've done the same in the desert and badlands with the sand ambiance, cactus flower and dry grass. The cold biomes deserve the same treatment, I think we'll start seeing it in next weeks snapshot with the new sheep variants.
I doubt Mojang will do it but I think this drop would’ve been a good time to implement the Moobloom, Vulture and the Iceologer, given that they can represent the temperate, warm and cold biomes respectively. I will always love this game but I feel like Mojang holds back some of the coolest or most fun features when it comes to updates/drops. I think this drop is still going to be great as is even though I’m not its targeted player demographic.
Personally I would love to see the cold sheep give more wool as their wool is probably very thick, maybe darker palettes and perhaps the warm wooled sheep has brighter colors, or pastel?
If they have it so that you get different colored feathers, it would make it a great reason to implement the fletching table to craft different arrows, not just in effects, but looks as well. I hope they make that decision.
The badlands update isn’t too far out the window, after all they’ve added dead grass to the desert, new desert ambiance, and of course the cactus flower. That’s three desert-adjacent features. There was also that scrapped “goodlands” biome in the mojang office party thing. That’s a good indication that they’ve atleast wanted to do SOMETHING with the badlands.
2:16 - When it comes to big parity decisions like this (Cactus Flowers growing next to blocks), the expectation is that Java has it right (which is does in this case), but they won't implement it on Bedrock Edition for at least another year (if at all) because it would be a good change. The only parity changes that actually get implemented on Bedrock are the ones that we don't want... QnA Question: Do you think there is also a chance that the Dried Grass plants that were part of the last snapshot are Mojang's implementation of Tumbleweeds? I know that they aren't technically the same thing, but given that adding moving tumbleweeds to Minecraft seems very improbable then having some sort of fixed-in-place version make a lot of sense.
While we were discussing armadillo changes on the Mojang dev Discord server, it was suggested by a couple of us that rolled up ones could actually roll, maybe even lead to some kind of soccer minigame opportunity. They'd be resistant or immune to damage in that state, just like a closed shulker, so you could bop them around without killing them. I don't recall any response from the devs on this detail, but maybe rolling is something they've been working on in the background since 2019. That mechanic would also apply to tumbleweeds. I know you're asking Toycat, but I don't think the dry grass is in any way an implementation or substitute for tumbleweed bushes. They have been adding bushes lately, however. :)
2:31 I think the answer whether things are worth breaking relates to 1. Is there a good replacement for what broke (effectiveness but more importantly fun) 2. How costly would the change be to user experience (how much work was put in originally, and is there additional reward for the additional work setting up the new alternative) 3. It’s actually an either-or situation and we can’t have the things we care about in both via creative solutions.
The desert is in dire need of a massive update in my opinion. I really want a tree🌴 that can retain vibrant colored leaves in a desert and an oasis spawning in the desert lake biome variant would be the best place to put it. PLEASE MOJAG, you promised!
Something I think many have forgotten is the fact that the biome vote losers are confirmed for the game, they’re never scrapped entirely, we just voted for which came first
@nur-aminjawad2035 It would be cool if there were some higher peaked mountains that came to more of a point and had like caves in the middle. They could make a cave structure above y 150 where he generates.
The thing with the feathers is like we have parrots and they also drop pure white feathers, if Mojang wanted to diversify the item textures they would have to make a feather for not only the new chickens but also for the parrots, and while att it they should change the leather for the new cows and the horse leather too, and Rabbits should drop different hides based on the different varients. The meat can stay the same its just the meat of the animal.
I think they might as well add navy blue feathers dropped from cold chickens and orange feathers dropped from warm chickens. Different wool patterns is something I hadn't considered before, but could be an interesting incentive to seek them out.
Yeah, that's why that's not how it works ingame Bad example though, antelopes and raindeer are entirely different families, the chickens are all just different breeds of chickens, they aren't even subspecies
To be honest I always thought that they were going to add the content from every biome vote pick eventually, I just thought everyone thought the same...
they better add the prickly pear cactus!! real cacti dont really bloom like that (who cares) but since mojang is so strict with things being realistic i want some cactus with arms and fruits!!!!
5:52 i think they are working on this things to do next the badlands drop, desert drop after and Savannah drop to end the year with ostriches and bonzais
1:49 I think the reason they're not placeable on bamboo is because they require the 2x2 area in the center of a block top, but because the bamboo is offset, it's hitbox doesn't count. Although some bamboos can line up, I think? Not sure... EDIT: Although that theory is probably wrong because you can also place it on pots... oh well...
Hate to say this but the red things we were shown in biome vote were fruits, not flowers. That cactus is based on the prickly pear cactus which gives edible fruits.
As fun as the ambiance of tumbleweed are, I think adapting them with any amount of realistic depth would be out of place. They’re a hazard irl, because they’re prickly, highly flammable, and can form into dangerous piles (flammable piles of sticks that are too prickly to quickly get rid of). I don’t think this aspect of them fits Minecraft (same reason natural disasters aren’t in the game), so what’s left is… a tumbling dead bush? Tbh this amount of “ambiance” might be too distracting for me. It’s a moving object that’s significantly bigger than particles, but not mob. If Mojang is gonna add any notable functionality to tumbleweed it has to be fantastical imo. I saw some suggestions that upon breaking they might drop certain items or varying rarity.
Mojang DID say once upon a time that they'd add everything that didn't win the vote after the fox controversy. But given their track record. It's safe to assume that's not going to happen to the extent they promised.
Of all these Biome additions, there is only 1 thing I want, and that is Meerkats. I have felt robbed since the vote, and no one seems to talk about the Desert. Please give us meerkats, I beg
9:24 I think it's a good idea they should do that more colored variations depending on what biome so hot climate sheep should give you very light colored wool while normal sheeps give you the normal color wall and the cold climates should give you like almost pastel or deeper saturation of the colors
I really like the spring drop so far but the way they are doing things at thr moment means that for each smal update you have to find the new version of existing biomes in your world meaning you have to discover many new chunks. With the "missing features" of the Mesa/desert vote maybe not being added this time you will have to find this biome again even further away just for small changes once again
Seems they are adding some things that both work i the desert and the badlands to give more live to both, id recon if we get more it will be something different or it will be something that can be used in both
The WhatsApp Minecraft comunity group announced the london Minecraft experience, i remember the "leaked" roadmap had something to do with a london experience
I thought mojang had said that, at least for the biome votes, the losers would still be added later anyways? (Specifically in reference to the first mob vote outright scrapping the losers)
if you go back and watch the Badlands video Tiny Jens says it's a "new cactus" which means the flowers don't really mean anything since it's on the old cactus
I want Mojang to add more color variations of existing blocks because I think it's stupid when builders use blocks that aren't a thing as that thing (your gradient looks pretty but wood is not sand)
The Biome Votes were actually the only case in which it was stated that all candidates would be added *eventually.* (the Mob Votes are a possibility, Biome Votes are guaranteed) As for this new cactus flower, I do not see it as remotely the same thing. It's a great added touch, but the showcased feature for the Badlands was a new type of "fancy cactus". It's possible we could see the desert or badlands vote get implemented this Drop, although personally I'd much rather see them turn their attention towards cold biomes now. (ambient sounds, snow-logging on Java, etc.) Also it's worth noting, I believe that detail about the Biome Votes was stated by a developer on twitter, and it's possible they've gone back on that. Which honestly is fine, but if so I think they should also go back on the rule that the original Mob Vote candidates are gone forever. (they don't even necessarily have to add any of them, just keep the door open if they ever want to)
Cold sheep should give more wool but take longer to grow it back (3-5 wool from sheers, 2-3 when killed) Warm sheep should give less but grow it back faster (0-1 when killed 1-2 when sheered)
I think the "warm" sheep should get different colored wool, just as terracotta is to concrete, with warmer variants of color. Would make sense especially if they're going to be found near the terracotta biomes anyway
I would love for them to add the desert oasis! Now that we have a bit more life in the desert, why not increase that with some meerkats and palm trees? 😌🙌🏻
I guess do we have flowering cactuses; though I think officially those are prickly pear cactuses. I guess technically it depends on whether they’ve decided to add a new cactus / fruit or not.
Really hope they'll keep their Promise to add the Biome Vote Stuff. I want a Pet Vulture :D Random Thought: they could also add Griffon Vultures on high Mountains 🥰
What if sheep stay mostly the same (maybe a different skin color for hot/cold) BUT the way their wool grows (back) depends on what biome they're in? So if you bring a thick woolly taiga sheep back home to your savanna base and shear it, lots of wool, but then it grows back this thin layer that drops either one wool or just a carpet.
What would be nice, if they add Vultures is that a tamed one could protect you from Zombies. Kinda like cat protects you from Creepers, Wolf from Skeletons... Vulture and zombie meat is a perfect match, or am I crazy on that one?
I hope they continue adding things from previous votes that never got added

The desert is in dire need of a massive update in my opinion. I really want a tree🌴 that can retain vibrant colored leaves in a desert and an oasis spawning in the desert lake biome variant would be the best place to put it. PLEASE MOJAG, you promised!
Plz add the vultures
And more vulture variations
I just want cacti that work like mini overworld Chorus Plants.
pearkly clubs arent the same as cactus flowers
Something I think many have forgotten is the fact that the biome vote losers are confirmed for the game, they’re never scrapped entirely, we just voted for which came first
I'm not gonna lie, Mojang might be cooking 🗣️🔥
I seriously hope they add the Iceologer at some point in the near future now that theyre adding the 2nd places
I still think he should have been called the chillager
If the iceologer be added the snow biome should also get some updates too
@nur-aminjawad2035 It would be cool if there were some higher peaked mountains that came to more of a point and had like caves in the middle. They could make a cave structure above y 150 where he generates.
Vultures should be a neutral mob where when attacked, they can pick you up and drop you high places
watching toycat give building tips is like watching a half remembered building tutorial that randomly showed up in a fever dream
9:10 nah, I think they are adding hot and cold ended dragons
QnA:
If you had to suddenly stop making minecraft content, what would you do instead?
I hope they add the savannah stuff from that vote as well
i hope the sheep get horn variants
& goat variants.
Mouflon & Manx Loaghtanfor sheep.
Markhor & Valais Blackneck for goats.
@@LikaLaruku I love markhors, their horns are beautiful though, I am not sure those would translate well into model and texture.
2:15 You can farm them if you use a sugarcane/bamboo farm set up
The thing with the feathers is like we have parrots and they also drop pure white feathers, if Mojang wanted to diversify the item textures they would have to make a feather for not only the new chickens but also for the parrots, and while att it they should change the leather for the new cows and the horse leather too, and Rabbits should drop different hides based on the different varients. The meat can stay the same its just the meat of the animal.
They're probably only adding one feature from the losing biomes for this update: fireflies for the swamp and cactus flowers for the badlands.
I think they might as well add navy blue feathers dropped from cold chickens and orange feathers dropped from warm chickens. Different wool patterns is something I hadn't considered before, but could be an interesting incentive to seek them out.
I hope so we only have the phantom and the parrots which they don’t really fly so it would be cool to have another bird in the game
With the sheep colors it would be cool if we got pastel and maybe more saturated versions of the current colors
ooh, i like this. maybe 'faded wool' (pastel) for the desert and 'heavy wool' (darker) for the cold biomes
1:20 : Split the difference: Lighting rods.
Why would the child be depending on the biome? If you breed 2 antiopes on the northpole they aren't going to make a raindeer.
Yeah, that's why that's not how it works ingame
Bad example though, antelopes and raindeer are entirely different families, the chickens are all just different breeds of chickens, they aren't even subspecies
Fine, if you breed two Jersey cows in India, you get a Jersey calf, not any of the Indian breeds of cow.
@dakotaraptorr I know, it's because toycat meant that it should work like that. True but I was exaggerating.
To be honest I always thought that they were going to add the content from every biome vote pick eventually, I just thought everyone thought the same...
we may get both badlands and desert update. it be awesome
they better add the prickly pear cactus!! real cacti dont really bloom like that (who cares) but since mojang is so strict with things being realistic i want some cactus with arms and fruits!!!!
Would be cool if we could ride the ostrich and equip 2 bundles of storage on the ostrich 😅
Add the Iceologer!!!
Not sure...
EDIT: Although that theory is probably wrong because you can also place it on pots... oh well...
They should do drops from now on as old mob and biome vote additions
Mojang saw me just beat Sandrock and decided to start a desert update a couple days later huh
Any cactus gives flowers, the one from the badlands were prickly pears, they are totally different things
Hate to say this but the red things we were shown in biome vote were fruits, not flowers. That cactus is based on the prickly pear cactus which gives edible fruits.
am i the only one questioning how tumbleweeds would even work in a game like minecraft?
probably spawn as an entity that rolls one way after it spawns, but can only roll down and would break if it hits a block
Very important question for QnA: How have you been recently, Toycat? :)
Please give us meerkats, I beg
i would really enjoy some new crops that spawn naturally in the world
I really hope the different types of egg are used for different flavours if cake.
Warm and cold cake
@ Actually no. Berry cake, chocolate cake abd carrot cake.
Palm trees and meerkats? I doubt it
VULTURES AND TUMBLEWEED?!
4:37 that “6 years ago” hit me hard
Warm. Some sheep in bathing suits? 😅
Fun fact, all the losers in the biome votes were on the Minecraft feedback site afterwards as coming soon. Idk if that’s still the case
Shrubs used to exist in old Java edition as well, it acted just like tall grass and ferns but used a dead bush texture
They should’ve done that with the feathers, and let you have either white, orange, or black feathers on an arrow, just to make it more fun
I believe the leaked roadmap said it was supposed to be in Boise, Idaho
Bighorn Sheep would fit relatively good for the Badlands, especially since there's also a second Species, the Desert Bighorn Sheep
3:10 wow they really have to make it so you can't break cactus flowers on cacti
Interesting to note that cactus will be the first plant in minecraft that can produce two different dyes without the use of combining any other dyes.
The Biome Votes were actually the only case in which it was stated that all candidates would be added *eventually.* (the Mob Votes are a possibility, Biome Votes are guaranteed)
As for this new cactus flower, I do not see it as remotely the same thing. It's a great added touch, but the showcased feature for the Badlands was a new type of "fancy cactus".
It's possible we could see the desert or badlands vote get implemented this Drop, although personally I'd much rather see them turn their attention towards cold biomes now.
(ambient sounds, snow-logging on Java, etc.)
Also it's worth noting, I believe that detail about the Biome Votes was stated by a developer on twitter, and it's possible they've gone back on that. Which honestly is fine, but if so I think they should also go back on the rule that the original Mob Vote candidates are gone forever.
(they don't even necessarily have to add any of them, just keep the door open if they ever want to)
I think that's Opuntia on that concept of mesa update. Not a flower.
I liked the idea of a new cactus, with edible fruit. But now that we have this flower, that will surely never be the case.
Since they adding farm animals to the badlands, there's a chance that they'll be adding another good source of wood in the badlands as well.
Cold sheep should give more wool but take longer to grow it back (3-5 wool from sheers, 2-3 when killed)
Warm sheep should give less but grow it back faster (0-1 when killed 1-2 when sheered)
I think the "warm" sheep should get different colored wool, just as terracotta is to concrete, with warmer variants of color. Would make sense especially if they're going to be found near the terracotta biomes anyway
I was thinking the other day
"It would be so cool if they added tumbleweed to the game" and here it is
Having different coloured feathers for each variant would once have been a problem due to stacking and inventory space.
Bundles. Change. Everything.
Bruh no wonder i couldn't sell my eggs, now all my eggs are now useless😢.
Really hope they'll keep their Promise to add the Biome Vote Stuff.
I want a Pet Vulture :D
Random Thought: they could also add Griffon Vultures on high Mountains 🥰
What if sheep stay mostly the same (maybe a different skin color for hot/cold) BUT the way their wool grows (back) depends on what biome they're in?
So if you bring a thick woolly taiga sheep back home to your savanna base and shear it, lots of wool, but then it grows back this thin layer that drops either one wool or just a carpet.
i'd kinda prefer it if:
the warm sheep dropped more meat and less wool
the cold sheep drops more wool and less meat
Okay but the spruce trees really shouldn’t be shedding leaves if anything.
What would be nice, if they add Vultures is that a tamed one could protect you from Zombies. Kinda like cat protects you from Creepers, Wolf from Skeletons... Vulture and zombie meat is a perfect match, or am I crazy on that one?
