I think the masts were recycled from the bayswater station project and the ballast materials will be used on this new extension. Get prepared for the tram to be absolutely swamped on day one of the Ellenbrook Line running! Will you be putting extra tram services on to cope with the added demand?
The masts were used on the extension were provided by us, which were previously used on Perth's trolley bus system. Most of the track, sleepers and ballast has come from Bayswater station. We will definitely have more than one tram operating on the opening day of the extension and the Ellenbrook line. There are at present, no plans to add any additional services, however this may change in the future.
@@PerthElectricTramwaySociety , are you really sure those reinforced cast concrete poles you walked past, which closely resemble the poles used on the suburban train network, were used for trolley buses? they look too new. the trolley bus poles ive seen in pictures look the same as the steel poles used for the tram network. i worked in road construction for a while and i consider crushed limestone to be a fabulous base for any sort of road - cars and trucks roads or rail roads (under the ballast). the more you drive on it the harder it gets. and its cheap so its a good choice here.
Yes the concrete poles were used on the trolley bus network however they have been treated and refurbished. There are also steel poles which are being used on the extension came from the trolley bus network as well.

is this going to be double track
There will be a short section of double track on the village leg of the triangle, however the extension to the railway station will be single track.
