Let's be kids and build a fort in the woods

  • Hi friends! It's been a while, but we're here and I'm determined to build this fort in the woods! I have been working long hours the past couple of weeks, which makes sitting down to edit really challenging, so I missed a video last week.
I'm basically working on the deck stuff during the day, and any hour to two extra in the day I'm sneaking down to the creek to work on that project.
This stuff is what I am really passionate about sharing on UA-cam, so it's important for me to keep my hand in it, even though honestly I'm feeling burned out by everything else.
Thanks for watching, thanks for supporting, thanks for being here!
See you in the next video.
    Michelle 💝

They say that when your pet out of the blue changes their normal routines to spend more time with you it can indicate that they know they are dying and want to spend as much time as possible with you till the end. Let's hope that is not what is motivating Lenny's behavior!

I'm homesteading and building a farm in Tennessee. I'm a single dad of a 8 year old daughter. She is with me while I'm working on the farm most of the time. I tell her she can learn and do these things one day too but she doesn't think she can because she's a girl. I showed her your channel as proof that she can do anything as long as she's willing to put the effort in. I just wanted to let you know that you're a good example and inspiration for young ladies, thank you!

@@jaredunger9994 thanks brother! I'm on the plateau near fall Creek falls. We're bout to start timber framing our barn, I've spent my free time the past two years milling the lumber and preparing the footings as well as everything else that goes with building a farm and taking care of livestock. It's very time consuming but it's very fulfilling as well.

"Let's be like kids again". At 62 years old, I'm realizing just how important this advice is. I have spent my life taking it to seriously being an adult. And life gets away so fast.
I wish we could impress on the youth, who are mostly in such a big hurry to grow up; just how fast life goes by. And to embrace and enjoy your youth. That said ,I wouldn't have listened when I was young either!! I have found that the secret to peace in my life is living in and embracing the moment. And peace equals joy! Have to admit during the Vancouver summer it would be really nice to have 20 acres especially with water access. Being stuck in the hot concrete jungle is less fun. I grew on prairies on 6 acres and anytime I stop by Sasamat Lake or Belcarra I have these thoughts. Even better on the west coast since the bugs are much more manageable. Sadly, 2 million for 2000 sqft doesn't quite have the same feeling. Thanks for sharing the projects with your family!

MICHY I'M PRETTY SURE IT'S THE FACT OF HAVING SOMETHING TO DO, TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF A CURRENT SITUATION/S. THIS ALLOWS ONE TOO FOCUS AND COUPE WITH A STRESSFUL OR DIFFICULT SITUATION. BEING THE FACT OF RESENT ITEMS GOING OUT TO THE CABIN BUILD WASN'T A GOOD OPTION. AND WITH THE DECK IN THE STATE ITS IN, MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO UNWHINED, WHILE STARING AT YOUR PROBLEM. SO THE LITTLE FORT, RETREAT , CALL IT WHAT YOU WILL, IS GOOD HOME BREWED THERAPY.HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND GOD BLESS. 😇👍👋

All we had were young muscles, hardened by play and ranch work and sharp tools. Grandpa was strict about that, keep your edged tools sharp! We didn't even have use of the chainsaws. Axe and saw and hammer and work horses. Oh and dogs, there was always a couple dogs.

Good morning 🌅, That was definitely hard work but a great sense of achievement, I remember many many many years ago, when I was little kid, we had a century box in our garden, that came off the RF headquarters next door, My elder brother made a drawbridge for it, and if I remember rightly it was on the other side of our sandpit so you had to let the drawbridge down to get across the Sampit to get into the century box, Definitely looking forward to you building a castle/fort ha ha😂, are you going to dig a moat around it? 😅😂, I did wonder whether you might have built something in the trees., but I don’t think the trees are big enough and you have a lot of standing dead logs, which is not good, keep up the great work, You obviously must’ve been very good at college in mathematics, as your log of rhythms are very, very good, 😂😂❤ France

"Be kids again." Wonderful advice. The log that had sap under the bark, does that mean that the tree was recently dead? So glad that you are opening up the light in that area by downing the dead trees. It was really neat the way Lenny walked ahead and cleared the way for you. It is just lovely the way the dogs play with each other.

Om goodness Michy.. you're such a gun!! I'm impressed every time u upload. Speaking of guns, yours are looking well toned.. With how much physical labour u undertake, that's no surprise. The entire property, all of it, all the projects both completed and yet to be are all spectacular and amazing. Thanks for continuing to share and inspire 🎉 🧡

Wow...! Who doesn't love a girl with a Bobcat, a chainsaw, and a wild imagination with the tenacity to keep going till it's done. Looking forward to seeing what your brain has in store for the creation of the "Fort". My childhood Forts were mostly piles of salvaged wood taken from the remains of an old Army camp. I suspect yours will improve on that some. Of course Lenny loves you. He's still around because of you. Good to hear Steve's back is improving. Also good to hear he has the skills to makeup for the incompetence of those who rip people off. Thanks again Michelle for sharing your adventures with us. P.S. I know it's hot out there but I always cringe when I see all that bare skin being poked and scratched by those sharp scraggly branches and things. Not complaining..... Just feeling the pain.

HI Chelle,, kool video,I liked it a lot! Such the busy bee you always are! Glad Steve is recovering well! And when felling trees that have limbs caught up, just assume they are hung up more then you think!! It's kinda amzing how strong limb bound trees are locked together! Even by one single limb they well just hold on like glue!! But don't fret, just make your cuts and if it doesn't go over, then chain it up and pull the butt out! Or just leave it and the wind will drop it, if you're sure no one will be waking in the area! Cheers pretty lady!
    Stay golden...

Hey Gurl, play while you can, for time catches up to us and soon we lack the youthful energy we had as a kid. Retired 22 years ago I can do as I wish, and only have responsibilities when a faucet needs attention, or a drain is clogged. I do build forts, but not for myself. I change the forts for my cats at least once a month. I make them from cardboard boxes. I made a brick fort next to my outdoor fire pit. There is room for just one cat. They have a ramp to the top of the fence & a flat top walkway atop the fence. Most of the time they just jump up the 6 feet to get on top the fence though. They have a kitty door from the hall linen closet to the bathroom because they want to be with me and the bathroom door is not always open.
Plan your work & work your plan.

I applaud your fort idea! Gotta have a bit of fun now and then. Good job of clearing the dead trees. I was thinking, a curved draw knife would seem to contour to the tree for debarking, not sure if they exist. Speaking of bark, to me, the hound's bark often sounds like 'borrow' 😁. Glad to hear Steve's doing better.
