Great Plains El Dorado longbow first look (traditional archery)

- Not 10 minutes, before my world came crashing down around my ears. (Check out my social media for the full story but all seems to be better now.)
I had a knock on the workshop door, and a nice UPS man handed me a long mystery package.
It was a great plains, El Dorado, Longbow B!
In a world where everything is content now, I thought I would film the unboxing of this bow, I can’t wait to get out to the woods and shoot it!

I bought a Great Plains “El Dorado” from them at Colorado Traditional High Country Shoot a few years ago and I just love it. Will have to say, enjoy.
I have never shot a Great Plains bow but have heard nothing but great things.

Awesome you finally got a bow from em i have recomended you to do so for quite some time. I have a model b recurve in cazador with bamboo limbs thats utterly fantastic and beautiful it shoots literally like a dream and as soon as i release i know where that arrow is gonna go. They are a daaaamn good bow company

Watching this video gave me the get up to go shoot just now. -5 degree C here.
Maybe do a vlog or video on stump shooting, how to find spots, what types of arrows, bow poundage, etc
Must be nice to get that kind of knock on the door 😆 I dream of trying traditional archery, making my own pvc bows now until I can afford something better, have a blessed day and holiday season if you celebrate, beautiful El Dorado as well !

Oh boy, dear Jimbo. I think I can speak for everyone who watches your videos, that until the day you decide to hang up the bow, and put away the camera for good, you will always be relevant. You have done so much for this community, you have no idea.

The el dorado is fr4 cap and cocobolo grip with a bamboo core. On Great Plains UA-cam channel they have a video showing off fr4 and shooting it to show how strong it is.

2 days earlier from when this video came out I got my bow a Youth Longbow at 45 pounds in Hickory fin left (left eye dominate) that is basically a Youth El Dorado/ Youth B style with maybe a bit less reflex of limbs simply due to size in a 52 inch or 132 cm bow and they use the clear Barepaw or Bo-Tuff fiberglass over the limbs with highly figured wood and not just the highly figured bows but on all that use wood they stabilize the wood part of the limbs. I am not suer of they used a thin piece of carbon fiber in the middle but if they did, the company did an amazing job. GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY forgot to send the Bow side plate even though I told them I only bought the Rug but said I did not buy the side plate thinking they would send it. They gave me a 72 inch sock, the only one on the site with the bow due to time of year they sent the bow to me, I might have said to not send the stringer as I have a longbow stringer I used on my other longbow that is shorter and will work for this bow. I did get another smaller 54 inch okay sock for a bow and a soft case that is 53 inches, just big enough for use. I would have just gone with the case but they messed up on the Velcro having it not right for use on a bow, the Velcro would cause scratches to the bow, so I laid that flat hard side to soft, cutting off the excess hard side, and getting a sock to help even more with scratch prevention.

I'd love to have a 1k USD bow sent to me as well :-) I have looked up the bow on their website and it looks amazing, especially the fact that you can select the bow length !!! Anyway Jim, make som tea mugs, I don't drink coffee :-)
The limbs of that bow are called a trap limb. Trapazoid cross section.
Btw the eldorado is the color scheme of the bow not the bow name. Cant wait to see you shoot it. I have a model b recurve in cazador color scheme with bamboo limbs. And am ordering myself a sr swift recurve soon too havent decided what colors i want in that yet hehe 😊
