Excellent choice guys! I did not know that Flying Fish were that beautiful. When we went on a cruise from Tampa to The Cayman Islands & Mexico, there were so many Flying Fish to see. They were like little dolphins jumping in and out of the water right beside the ship. It was def a spectacular thing to see! Thank u to both of you for this excellent episode!
Wow! I learned so much about flying fish! I had no idea they used their tail to also help them out of the water! I also was super intrigued by the other videos you talked about briefly, so I got a list of videos to watch now! Thanks for the video!
When I was on my honeymoon in Mexico we went swimming with whale sharks and mantas. We saw hundreds of flying fish on the boat ride out flying out of the water as our boat passed.
"Unfortunately for these flying fish, they took to the skies to escape predators from the water only to land in the beaks of predators in the air." Ah yes, the basic tenet of subsistence being the revolving door of measures and countermeasures.
Very strange strategy, I assume that if there are no birds nearby their strategy works nicely. If they make enough of a scene though and birds are attracted then their strategy sort of falls apart. That said a bird will likely eat alot less fish than a larger ocean predator so hopefully their belly's will fill before they eat the specific fish.
There also exist flying squid which behave much like flying fish, only they propel themselves out of the water with their siphons, basically like tiny winged water rockets. Maybe inspiration for a future video?
Have you ever seen a flying fish in real life? It would be so cool to see them leaping from the waves!
Yes, in South Florida, near the Gulf Stream. Amazing.
I have, they were scared of the boat I was on. I also caught a young one in a bucket. It was stuck in the tide pools.
🎉 yes I have they look soooo coooool I have taken a photo🎉

2:49 They're so beautiful, they look like aquatic Monarch Butterflies or some kind of pretty bird with it's wings outspread.

Flying fish are definitely one of my favorite kinds of fish. Those tiny specked ones look like moths.
Yes! We were thinking the same thing!!

Agreed! It definitely seems like a balancing act of what works for this strategy!
such an interesting fish
Completely agreed!
That looks so cool when they leap!
We think so, too!!
Interesting facts

Oh that's a really cool idea! Thanks for the suggestion!
Cool! 😎👍
Thanks! 👍
How do they breathe while flying?
Since you said that they can glide for max. 45 seconds in the air. ❓
Can you do fact files on the needlefish?
Absolutely! That's a really cool suggestion! Thank you!
I bet it sucks to be a flying fish. Fancy wings that has no escape from predators. I'd rather be a flying saucer.
🎉I have seen flying fish 🎉
Any fish that is transported in an airplane is a flying fish.
Fun fact they taste good if you smoke them
Make a vídeo about sloths
Great suggestion! Thank you!
It's a fish that can go airborne and have a means of transportation in the air. Your argument is invalid!
