I watch and hear this theme out of pure nostalgia every few months. I was a 90s kid. MvC1 was everywhere in my hometown. I loved hearing the selection screen theme. This game will always have a special place in my heart. I played it everywhere I went that had it! 2 laundrymats and 2 liquor stores and the comics store behind my middle school all had this walking distance from home. I would play this with any kid who loved arcades right after school, then head to the Pizza Hut right next door to the comic store. This was back when Pizza Hut was still awesome! We also had this thing called Nickel City where you pay an entrance fee and then every arcade only costed literally 1 nickel instead of quarters and they had MvC1, Tekken Tag Tournament, Street Fighter Alpha 3, etc. They always had all the latest greats. Before MvC1 released, they always had the most recent hits too like axmen vs Street Fighter, Marvel Superheroes vs Street Fighter, Street Fighter 3, Tekken 3, etc. The same people were always there so most got to know each other, some rivalries, etc. It was truly a good gaming era and a nice way for the arcade era to end for me and in general. Old school arcades were free to play when we you finally run out of nickels after playing for hours! I believe they finally closed down in 2016. I miss that place. Awesome childhood memories.
Ahhh, remember when the Marvel VS Capcom series had a lot of its own personality and identity instead of just being a copy-paste of the MCU? Good times.

One really neat feature I always loved about this game was how each character had their own stylized insignia of their name, even the characters that were part of one series like Ryu and Chun-Li.
MVC 1 had far better presentation than the later games in the series. The stages, character select screen, the portraits of the characters before and after the matches. MVC 2 had a huge enjoyable roster, but was lackluster in every other aspect.
