- Join us for breakfast in Poland as we visit Moment cafe to eat both traditional Polish breakfast items as well as a more contemporary menu in Krakow, Poland. Still being on Kyrgyzstan time we woke up really early and by the time we got to the restaurant for breakfast we were really hungry. With that in mind we ordered a huge cappuccino, two fresh squeezed juices and two big mains which included a more traditional Polish breakfast with eggs, sausages, meats and cheeses and then a more contemporary twist with a bagel filled with cream cheese, trout and vegetables.
Overall, it was a delicious breakfast and if you're in Krakow we highly recommend this place:

Breakfast in Poland | Eating Polish breakfast in Krakow travel food video transcript:
Well good morning good morning. Today we went in search of Polish breakfast and we ended up at the perfect spot. So we found this restaurant. It is called Moment. Or maybe it is Moment.
And they kind of specialize in breakfast so they have a Polish breakfast and a traditional Krakowski breakfast. Yes. So we've ordered one of each to see what the differences are.
And what is the local name for it?
So he said something like śniadanie Krakowski. śniadanie Polski.
But anyways we know we're getting breakfast.
And someone has to start the mornings off right with coffee. Oh man, when I saw that they had big cappuccinos on the menu I'm like yep. Oh yeah. I could use one of those. And while Sam is getting caffeinated I'm having juice. All natural juice. Actually he ordered the same as I did. So it is apple, carrot, orange.
Anyways, my breakfast is here. This is the traditional Polish one. And woah! That looks good. Woah. So we've got some scrambled eggs, we've got two sausages, we've got some grilled bacon, we've got cheese. We have cream cheese with like radishes and cucumbers and another little salad with cucumbers and peppers. So OMG. Mouth is watering here.
Polish sausages. Lots of mustard. Oh my gosh. Yeah, we were expecting this breakfast to be like egg and sausage heavy. Yeah. And it has delivered.
You know Polish food has a really big influence in North American cuisine too. There are a lot of Polish people living in Canada and the US. And if you go to somewhere like Chicago you're going to get some amazing Polish food.
And one of the interesting things when I was just recently researching about Polish cuisine and Polish food is that the precursor to the bagel is from Poland
I think I'm going to try the sandwich first so I'm not sure if I should be doing this but I'm picking it up. Yes. It is a little bit sloppy. I'm getting some sauce on my hands already.
xcellent quality bagel. It is multigrain. It has lots of seeds as you can tell. And then the trout oh that is nice. It is kind of in a creamy type of like I wouldn't call it mayonaise but sort of a mayonnaise consistency sauce.
Yeah, really good quality sausage oh my gosh. Yeah, isn't it good?
And there is some cheese mixed into that egg too. Yeah, and we've also got some cheese slices which I didn't actually get to.
So you were saying this is a cream cheese?
Yeah, so there is like a cream cheese with radishes and cucumbers in there.
So we had such a nice breakfast that I completely forgot to do price point.
So it was 80 Zloty which is just under 19 Euros and that included everything.
Two juices our two big mains and the large cappuccino. Now I'll admit that is a bit of a more expensive breakfast but if we wanted to make it a little bit cheaper we could have I suppose not ordered the juice.
It was just a really good breakfast. Loved that we got to try both a traditional Polish breakfast which included meats, cheeses and breads and also a bit more of a contemporary twists on it with the bagels and the trout and the salad. A nice combination of kind of hearty and healthy. If you're in Poland I highly recommend you try this type of breakfast.

I live in the center of the Polish population in Chicago. They have some of the best food I have tasted and I am Italian-American. They can cook so well and they are some of the friendliest/hardworking ppl to have here in Chicago. We have been blessed to have the Pols here!

If you really want to try some polish cuisine go to Bar Mleczny (milk bar). There's a couple in every town, city. Everywhere really. Try Gołąbki, Pierogi, milk soups, pork with potatoes and sauerkraut. Try barszcz and żurek, try white sausage, kabanos... plenty of choices. For breakfast we eat boiled eggs with yolk still running with a roll, some ham on it and veggies. Or sandwiches with white cheese, veggies and tea to that. Or some oatmeal with fresh fruits. Most of all, we eat bread, and in Polish culture bread is very meaningful and most people take it very seriously. Beagles aren't even Polish - I can't remember them to exist when I was a kid... We really love our food and there's plenty to choose from, so many options ❤️ In Poland we eat cheap, Polish food really is cheap and a breakfast for 80 pln is like a robbery...

one correction - beagles a very Polish food, they were invented actually in Cracow in medieval ages. If you do not know them, you may be from the rural region far away from Cracow or your parents are, but you can know something else traditional from your region.
Possible, I couldn't be raised farther from Cracow. In those parts of Poland beagles weren't in shops until recently. But it's good to know, thanks for the info, I will research it further :)

It's more like English breakfast not Polish! We Polish eat on breakfast bread with cheese or ham and we eat tomatoes, cucumbers, you can eat also sausage like Frankfuterki or egs but mostly Polish people don't eat breakfast with a lot of fat like English. Many people eat also yogurt and cereals, in Poland is really big variety food for breakfast.

Me too from Poland and It look like traditional breakfast for me. But Polish people don't eat all time Polish brakfest. We like Italian or Chinese food very much too. Today Polish people eat more healty. In biger cities i think. You are so nice. I hope you had great time in Poland 😊
at first glance, i thought it's ridiculous to call it a traditional polish breakfest too :D
but to be honest i couldn't be more wrong, because you have everything there, that many people eat for breakfest, it's just presented in a more fancy way on a plate, and served all during one meal (as you probably should expect from a breakfast served in restaurant, especially for that price)
Thats not TYPICAL Polish. Thats typical European hotel breakfast. Its really hard to tell what is traditional Polish breakfast or do we have one? Personally I eat porridge for breakfast, sometimes pancakes.
Marysiav it’s the same in England too. A full English breakfast is not an everyday occurrence but a special meal.

yup mom couldn't eat fresh rye it had to sit and go stale before she even putt anything on it bvack in the day wood was scarce so everthing cooked one day eaten for the next 4 days either it was dry smoked or pickled salted or fresh picked from out back behing the the pig house mostly soup soup soup every other day /slice bread with lard and a tomato slice suck on a pig feet bone from the soup and spoon of kruat from the barrel in root cellar and if you were lucky you got a single stick of gum from the pekao store/hut in town and a strip of toilet paper for a few zloty and maybe you got a chunk boiled potato too

Polish breakfast is served with tea. Rye bread and wheat or multi-grain bulbs.
Cottage cheese with chives, radish, or tomatoes, cucumbers etc. Eggs, ham.

People, they are in restaurant - not in polish hospital. So they have breakfast like this. I agree that usually we eat only sandwiches or only egg, but when i have some time i make breakfast like this. I think this is a great polish breakfast Sam and Audrey :)

That is typical hotel breakfast. Eggs, bacon, some sandwich, frankfurters and coffe. Best hangover breakfast. Lot of protein and fat.
I think we don`t have "typical" dish for breakfast. Definitely sandwich with something like ham, chease and tomato + tea or coffe.
Macie, , they are in Poland ( get it). and this is a Polish not American cuisine. I’m sure if you wanted a sandwich the chief would accommodate you. They are very polite people.
Obviously, it's fancier, but normally we wouldn't put all those things together on a plate. I mean each one of them it's a separate breakfast dish such as scrambled egg (and I don't mean eggs with milk done in a microwave, Polish one is cooked on a pan with butter with onions/mushrooms/bacon) OR sausages OR sandwich (yes, we have sandwiches for breakfast). Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it and you will associate Poland with yummy food.

My wife and many here in San Antonio TX are descended form Silesians from near Opole. This was on Google: "Today there are at least 228,309 Texans of Polish ancestry, according to the 2000 U.S. census, making them the seventh largest ethnic group in the state. But, the history of Polish Texans goes back before Panna Maria. A few Poles arrived in Texas as early as 1818." Chicago is ground zero for Poles, but Texas got them first.

Your Polish doesn't suck at all (almost perfect pronunciation of "śniadanie"). And no matter what lots of people are writing here, this is Polish breakfest, maybe it's not daily becaeuse it's a bit complicated and fancy, but looks like breakfest celebrate e.g. on Sundays

Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos im polish and my breakfast is always sandwiches. That's how I actually understand breakfast. Sometimes with ham, with cheese, with tomato, jam etc, but just sandwich ;) once a month when I have too much time I make eggs. Here in Poland bread is really good, and also very popular. My boyfriend is an exception. He eats only goddamn meat 24/7. I must say the second plate you have showed was much more polish than the first one.
This type of breakfast is very popular in big cities in Poland. In Warsaw there is a lot of places with offers where you can buy coffee for ~3€ and have breakfast like this for 1zł (~0.25€). The offers are usually valid untill 12 o'clock. I love them ;)

Very simple and minimal. Nothing fancy. Porridge, cottage cheese, sausage links, pancakes (nalesniki). However as far as I know pancakes in America are thick and hand-size. Polish pancakes are flat as paper, because they are usually used as a roll/wrap for something - fruit, cottage cheese, meat etc. They are the same to Russian ones.

Ja nie jem nic z tych rzeczy, bo nie jestem jakimś pojebanym hipsterem, ani kolesiem, który udaje, że wie, jak wygląda "typowe polskie śniadanie", bo nie ma czegoś takiego. Inaczej je się na wsi, inaczej w mieście. Co innego lubią na śniadanie Poznaniacy, co innego Krakusy, a jeszcze coś innego Kaszubi i Mazurzy. Co nie zmienia faktu, że jedzenie na filmiku wygląda na smaczne i dobrze, że zachwycają się nim zgrymaszeni na ogół Anglosasi.

The Polish breakfast, today, differs very little from thee ones in any Western civilized cities. School kids and working adults have milk, hot chocolate, tea, or fresh brewed/instant coffee, open sandwiches with cold cuts, cheeses not only Polish, and with jam/preserves. Weekend breakfasts are not rushed. Very often, in Spring and Summer breakfast table there'll be farmer's cheese (similar to cottage cheese, but dryer) made more moist with a bit of creme fraiche, and with thicklly sliced radishes and chopped chives mixed in. Fresh rye bread is a staple, and most like to finish the morning meal with fruit jam/preserves on that buttered sliced rye bread.
Of course, the Polish breakfast and all meals differ from region to region, as well as the family life styles in cities and in the country sides.
One thing is for sure, most products are fresher and better quality than in the US. The produce has more flavor and have their natural aroma. Polish wild strawberries are a dream!

How does the European cuisine compere to the ultra processed food you guys have in the US? There are hundreds of Americans doing the "gorging" videos, how realistic are these?
Traveling in Europe for a while you really appreciate the quality of baked goods, deli meats and produce and the availability of picking them up in markets or small groceries along with great quality and affordable wine.
Not a typical Polish breakfast, but Westerners like it. Audrey should try it everyday, being skinny is not healthy.
We tend to start our day off a bit lighter to be honest.
Poles usually eat sandwiches for breakfast, eggs, scrambled eggs, yogurt, muesli, etc. Coffee, tea.

That was a really good breakfast :) but was it a "traditional Polish"? ... I wouldn't know, I doubt anyone in Poland knows what the "traditional Polish breakfast" is :) in my opinion we eat things very similar to all the "continental" breakfasts but our sausages are much better

I didn't say it was a mistake :) just shared my lack of ideas when I asked myself a question about traditional breakfast. Here you experienced the best. If you did a serious research about what people are really eating it would be similar everywhere. Half don't eat anything and grab a bite on a way to work. Others just make a quick sandwich, eat cereal or oat meal. The tradition happens during Christmas and Easter, there is a custom of eating family breakfast. On my family table there are always eggs in mayonnaise, white boiled sausage, bigos (cooked cabbage with meats etc.) and some other traditional dishes. I bet that no restaurant is serving this sort of breakfast :D
PS. Polish breakfast is more continental breakfast than you had but ...still tasty looking..

These are too fancy. We mostly have open sandwiches but teens can also go for a bowl of cereal and even have the sandwiches with it. Baltonowski bread with mix and match cold cuts, tomatoes, eggs and cottage cheese is my personal favourite combo.

Great video, great breafast, semi elegant - hipstero, fusion places like this have been coming up lately. It looks tasty glad you are so axited about it. To me of course little bit too far away from what I would have but You go elegant style and I like it very much. it is never gonna happen but if you tried to be like Anthony Bourdain and visit someone at their home and get drunk. That would be just amazing. He never visited Poland perhaps little bit too tough ground hehe

It is just like a polish breakfast like a hamburger and chips. In no Polish house you will not see such a thing.
If you want to try real Polish cuisine go to the countryside, there is a chance that you will get real Polish dishes.

Its ok , it happens, if you really want to know what traditional Polish food is like, then you need to go and visit somebody's grandmothers house..... this is my opinion.... babcias cook the best Polish food....
Well I had that kind of breakfast more then once, especialy scrambled eggs so it's not really that inaccurate .
Polish breakfast is proper breakfast. In UK you will get everything fried in lots of oil and its all just too heavy for the morning. Lots of fresh veg, radish, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, some nice white cheese, eggs and boiled sausage, not deep fried :D That's the best and most efficient way of starting the day.

I'm Polish and I've never had bacon strips or a bagel for breakfast at my home. If you want to make travel video, you should verify information before you share. I would be mad if you had misinformed me doing a similar video about a country with I don't know...

I am.polish and i had breakfast like this everyday 2 parówki with fried eggs and cheese when i was young i had fried ham couldnt afford bacon but the other one with bagel deffo not polish maybe cracow breakfast

I have grandparents who were from Poland but I don't know anything about the Polish culture or food. I think pierogies and kielbasa are even Americanized Polish food. In America we just eat whatever are being served for breakfast say thank you

@@samuelandaudrey the breakfast you have is more English. We have more simple dishes. Whilst the egg is a part of our breakfast the bacon and cheese is not. We prefer freshly baked bread with ham, onion, tomatoes, etc inside. Nothing fancy. At all. Your breakfast was waaaay too English. :)
Thats not a typical polish breakfast lol try going to a village you will drink black Coffee and eat bread smeared with pasztet for breakfast haha. This is just for tourists but it looks yummy ☺️

To jest normalna rzecz w kulturze zachodu. Tak posługuje się sztućcami większość społeczeństwa i nikogo to nie dziwi. Ale serwowanie tak wyszukanego śniadania bez serwetek na stole to na zachodzie skandal. Wiem , wiem , Polacy ich nie używają nawet jeśli są one na stole.
In Poland, it's all organic unless otherwise specified. Another bonus atop of the low prices relative to your foreign currency. Can't go wrong.

If u want a cheaper breakfast in Poland there are restaurants that serves breakfast for 1 PLN and all u have to do to have it in that price is to buy a coffee or tea, or anything else for at least 10 PLN so u have a big breakfast and drink for 11 PLN which is almost 3$

It's not a polish breakfast. For a breakfast we eat sandwiches.
What kind of sandwich?
Well, cannot speak for everyone, but in my home it's usually one-sided with ham, cheese, salad and tomatoes. My grandparents like to add to it chrzan or smalec (if with smalec, then usually some of the ingridients aren't used, like cheese or salad). Most of us drink tea with it, but coffe isn't uncommon, especially if we're having a long day planned. But then it's nearly always a normal black one or just with milk. Very rarely we have pancakes for breakfast, but it's usually in winter when everyone has day off.
I'd say it will be close to impossible to find "traditional" polish breakfast in a restaurant in Poland as we prefer to it something different when we eat out and not things we have everyday at home. And even when traveling we tend to do breakfast at our own and not eat out. It's way easier to eat traditional dinner as a tourist as 'milk bars' (bary mleczne) are everywhere in Poland and they serve what common people eat in affordable prices. But they aren't really a tourist atractions, most of them haven't change the look since PRL. It's just a place to eat if you want something cheap and familiar. In some places they're even cheaper than fast-foods like MacDonald or KFC.
One-sided , polish bread or rolls, polish butter, polish sausage or polish ham, polish cheese e.g gouda, polish cottage chees, eggs etc, and on top tomatoes or cucumbers, green onion , lettuce - what ever you like.
Ussurin Sałata po angielsku to lettuce, a salad to po polsku sałatka.
Samuel and Audrey, Ussurin and Sylka have forgotten to mention we're used to rye bread. I'm not saying that we don't eat wheat bread at all, but if some Pole says "bread", he/she thinks "rye bread" (which is not square).

To be honest there is no 1 particular breakfast we usually eat. We do eat various things for breakfast :P
Most often that will be sandwiches.
Do a little bit of research and you will find out what a "Polish Breakfast" term means in (Slang) all around the Europe.
