UNSCRIPT'D 001: The Playbook to HBCU Success w/ Ose Esene [Howard University]

The first episode of UNSCRIPT'D (00:00) ; w/ guest Ose Esene who is a current senior at Howard University; starts off with a brief conversation about a Trader Joe's run before getting into intro / no intro of the video and overall podcast (1:07). We start off the main dialogue getting to know how Ose thinks he is viewed around Howard University's campus by his fellow peers (1:39) before getting into his unique upbringing (3:39). We then dive into his first attempt at cutting his own hair and gradual rise as a barber (11:26) before hopping into the topic of Charles Herbert Flowers High School where he went to school (24:38) and highlighting Dr. Brown; the principal of said high school (30:41). We then go through a quick camera malfunction, which is promoted as vulnerability to help those who are perfectionist see that mistakes are bound to happen (31:41) before talking about Ose's journey to attending Howard University. (32:59). The topic flows into his expectations for himself stepping onto Howard's campus (44:13) and at what point he understood the politics going on behind closed doors (48:28). We had to talk about Springfest 2024 (56:36) which naturally brought about the topic of the impossibility of pleasing everyone while being in a leadership roll. Ose tells us what is plans are in his senior year (1:00:18) and closes us out talking about where he sees his life in the near future (1:06:59).
