“Once [a step is] executed properly, technique can improve a lot quicker and you will receive the right strength in the right muscles." Delighted to find such an exceptional resource. Freshly encouraged by Andrew Greenwood's new-to-me tips. Cautiously hopeful that I'll inch past 'intermediate' eventually.
To whom it may concern, very nice question, one should not keep the Gluteal muscles always contracted. Try not to use the Gluteus maximus to much because then one tends to tuck under. When one is standing in one of the five positions or standing on one leg. One should hold the medium & the small gluteal slightly engaged. Maestro Greenwood
hello! This was very useful and great teaching! I have a question though. I am a beginner in ballet (my muscles and bones are still not used to these movements) and when I do these moves my bones on my legs (knees and the upper part where the leg begins) crack a little. is it because i am a beginner or should I worry about it? oh and if its necessary to know, im 16.
Hi, well your back shouldn't be completely straight. You need to keep the natural four bends in the back slightly there. Too flat is not good for your jumping, the back in a kind of a spring board. Maestro Greenwood
If I'm not supposed to "tuck under", how do I straighten my back then?

Thanks again for these wonderful classes. Well, I have a problem in keeping my feet flat on the floor, distributing the weight equally. Is there any specific exercise I could do to fix this? I try to overcorrect all the time, but I feel that´s not working for the feet (although it worked for the back).
Melissa de Sá I have to constantly keep in mind my feet. I, too, am a beginner adult student and I've been noticing over the course of 6 months now that my feet and ankles have gotten a lot stronger I notice they don't roll as often. We all know ballet shoes have ZERO support in them. The only suggestion I can give is to keep strengthening your ankles and feet and you'll begin to notice your feet won't roll as often. That's been a big issue when I first started lessons. But, my teacher keeps an eye on them and if she sees that I'm starting to roll she immediately corrects me.
