Along with my siblings, I honor our beloved Dad - late Anthony Mendes, who would've been 100 years old , on 28th December this year. It's so incredible that people of Goa still remember his songs ( mostly composed by him) and his acting skills. He was a born star. Thanking God for the amazing talents he was given to entertain people. He was the best Dad one could ever have. We still miss him dearly and are so blessed that we can watch him on video.
His name will live forever in Goan history. Thanks to Chris Mendes, also his grandson and your cousin, that reproduced this song in a modern style . Big Thumbs up 👍 Awesome performance 👏 God Bless the Mendes family🙏 . Me encanta ( I love it).

These are the translations. The lyrics are literal translation, and some I have tried to make sense of. The overall song is just him asking for forgiveness and expressing his love. Any other Goan with a good Konkani vocabulary is always welcome to correct me. Male: Maria, Have you come to invite me for the feast? Female: No, my love, I have come to tell you not to get angry about what my father has said. Male: You keep calling me your love to make me excited, but it seems that you are just shaking the cradle (a way to say you are teasing me) Female: Fine, don't listen to me, I am leaving. Male: Maria x3 Then the song starts. In your useless anger, why are you running away In your love, look, I am starting to wilt away. In love, girl, a lot does happen Sometimes laughter, sometimes tears, But this is for you and I to be understanding about. My love, you are my joy, you break the tree of love ( anyone can correct me on this). When you are in my arms, I don't feel hunger. I have loved for a long time (lit. I have loved her from the day before yesterday) She runs, how do I catch her In the sea, my love ship is just floating away. I simply said that she was 'shaking me in a cradle ' (met. It means that she is fooling me.) She claimed I don't understand love angrily I have a doubt that she has a crush on an other guy She will cheat on me, break my heart, and say goodbye. (Same paragraph is repeated twice here. ) Whatever has happened has happened, my sweet bun. (Lit. My sweet bread. Note: it is a bread available in Goa made of coconut, though not many bakeries produce it anymore. So if you want to taste it, inquire with the locals. The last sweet bread I ate was from Valenkani bakery, Parra. I liked it) If you leave me, I will kill myself, You forcefully excited me We fell in love last March But till today, I have not felt (lit. Seen) the sweetness of love. Because I love you I come running to you Whatever has happened, let us forget for now I bear everything just to please you But by making you my queen, I shall become a king. (This is repeated twice.)
