These instructional videos with your lovely partner are excellent. Seeing a complete novice being coached rather than watching you tweak the swing of somebody who is already reasonably able, is of great benefit to a complete beginner like myself. 👍

Thanks, great visual demonstration of how hips move. My missing jigsaw piece amongst many. Small sample size, I tried it out on practice range, and instant results, stops me getting trapped in downswing, I get a full follow through now, and noticed my ball impact on club face is in sweet spot more rather than toe areas. Thanks. This instruction had instant positive improvements. I've seen an article that Ben Hogan use belts above knees and elbows, to gain muscle memory, do you think that type of drill helps? Thanks again, Gus.

Just catching up back catalogue ~ Russell hit the nail on the head that if you miss fundamentals during the early stages of learning /changing golf swings you automatically limit your ultimate potential.Really good video for all the flippers out there ~ having been one for 20 years....changed it with Russell’s help.

I managed to teach myself so many bad habits in my golf swing it makes things quite difficult to change but with your videos I still have hope that I can change those bad habits into good ones. Thanks for the great videos.

As a completely frustrated early 'everything' lack of power and accuracy golfer of 20 yrs on and off. These videos give me hope that I too can evolve my 'arms dominated' hit into a relaxed semi athletic swing. My left glute and both sides of my sacroiliac joint are certainly aching as a result . Great to be able to see a beginner example. Stay safe and thanks.

@Russell Heritage... I know you don't like doing beginner type lessons you say. But, even as an experienced golfer that plays a lot, these are really good to watch. Thinking about things like posture, and correct body movements. I think we get so technical sometimes as we progress that we forget these important parts of the game, and some issues we are having could be as simple as setup. Love the videos, and will actually be working these two drills on the off season. Would love to see more simple basic (beginner) drills.

I don’t know how many people realize just how fundamental this is to a correct golf swing. It is the basis for good footwork and swinging in the proper sequence to a balanced to finish. This is the foundation of a good golf swing.

You have made an old man very happy Russell .Your drills are similar to Big John"s training belt . however you add the key which is LHD .Using the belt and your instruction .I wind the hip down with back of the right knee tendon .Then the left knee tendon pulls the left hip down for the downswing ,results fabulous .I also had got lazy not keeping that good posture . The belt is now not needed and the follow thru is automatic .

Once again great information. I've been looking for a way to simplify my swing and your demonstration of the downwards facing pelvis drill, gave me an idea that does the trick. All I have to do is visualize a table at about mid thigh height and think about keeping the pelvis pointed down at it, throughout the swing. This does a good job of helping me keep the pelvis (zipper bottom) pointed down through impact ( I'd been having trouble with this ). I use the right back pocket back thought, as a swing starter and turning the left outside pants seam to the left as a downswing trigger. POCKET TABLE...SEAM TABLE works well with my lower body driven swing.

Couple of good drills to try, I’m not flexible at all, find it hard to turn off the ball and then get armsy at the ball! I’ll try these though!! 👍

Hi . Anybody who keeps the right leg bent in the backswing, because the left leg bends and lowers, if you don't compensate with the right leg straightening then your head will naturally drop. Like it's doing with your wife.
To keep your head from dropping because the left leg loosens height the right leg as to extend to keep your height surely.
And by straightening the right legs helps you get more rotation in your backswing, Especially if you dont have good flexibility.

The devil is always in the details as you said. Working with a beginner such as Anna, really helps identify and highlight those details. We’ve all started out in the same place as Anna and through years of minor adjustments and corrections finally arrive at a somewhat decent swing. Some of us never get there. Fortunately, Anna has a dedicated and experienced trainer. For whatever reason, throwing a ball seems natural, whereas, swinging a golf club seems anything but natural.

This is the interesting bit. For almost 25 years I'd been playing and having lessons before any of my coaches mentioned this. It's really difficult after all that time to get this right.
