As an Arab who uses the dictionary Alot
I think it should be recommended for people who reached a high level of Arabic
Like a person how would like to know the difference between أكفاء و أكفَّاء
But people who are intermediate need to gain new vocabulary by conversations

Try to find a course going over some basic material in Arabic during your time here. Learning Arabic in Arabic is the way to go as The brother mentioned. having some classes in English can help with learning, but for the most part you need a lot of exposure to Arabic. This will be the most beneficial use of your time. And Allah knows best.

There’s an app called almaani that can accomplish this in some way, but I’ll let someone else answer the question as I’m not an android user

Almaany arabic to english is probably the best. There's also the hans wehr dictionary but you need get some practice with it and know how to derive the root words.
