@@donnaf3220 I haven't tried the metal streamline hooks on a project yet, so I would say I prefer the resins, but I will try to use one on an upcoming project.
I adore Furls ! They are truly beautiful... like a thing of art ! I have many hooks from Clover. Tulip, AERO, , Addi , Knit Picks, and so many more. From high end to the dollar tree ! I find that I use different hooks for certain projects or yarn types. It really does come in handy to have more options ! I tell all my friends ... collect hooks of ALL kinds. Don't get stuck with limiting yourself to only one brand ! Seriously... you'd be surprised ! But i gotta say ... FURLS really is the most gorgeous of all my hooks.
Here’s my experience for anyone reading: I love the metal streamline! I never had furls before. I finally decided to try it. I love metal hooks - clover amour being my favorite. I ordered a 5.5mm because I use that a lot, and I’m currently working with 5.5mm.. and an 8mm because I have 2 big blanket projects coming up that I need an 8mm for- and I was reading the heavier hooks (not too heavy obviously) actually feel like the weight of it helps push through the stitches faster in some weird way lol I am flying through my project with my 5.5mm. It is amazing. Worth the money if you crochet a lot. Get 1 or 2 of the ones you use the most… and I don’t think it will be a waste of money if you are using it all the time. ❤ - fantastic customer service- so if you find you don’t like it, you can easily return. You have 90 days. Every hook is not for everybody. But this hook has jumped the ranks and is now my favorite. 💜 I don’t like resin hooks in general… but I never tried furls resin so I cannot comment on them. But I LLOOOVVVE the metal streamline. But- what works for me might not work for you. But worth a try I think. I feel like these metal hooks are in a class of their own.
Thank you for your through comment!! I completely agree with you on your feedback!! I just received the 4mm streamline for a project I'm working on, I do LOVE the Furls Streamline Metal hooks!!
❤❤ I so agree, I’m a FurlsGurl so what I do is I purchase my most used sized hooks in different hooks that way i can put them in different WIP baskets 😅
I have the 7 8 9 and I really like them waiting for my ophire hooks I love your videos they help me alot so I know what to buy so thank you so much have a blessed day
Ah you are so welcome!!! I think you will love them! BTW....They are doing a giveaway this month! Check out the link I Included in the "Community Tab" (no purchase necessary) ;)
Thanks for this review, I have been looking for new hooks for the very reason that you describe, that the hook catches the yarn on the way back making me have to twist the hook with each stitch. As for the giant wooden hook, I used to have one made of plastic many years ago and it was specifically for broomstick lace. This looks like the kind of hook that would work for that. Haven’t done broomstick lace in so long I have forgotten how to do it so I can’t be totally sure.
Thanks for doing this review. I had seen this hook and wondered how it would work. I don’t tend to work with heavy hooks, so thanks for the heads up. As far as the yarn goes there is so many cheaper acrylics out there that are nice I can’t see paying that price from furls.
I'm a hard core clover crocheter. I have 2 furls. One is resin and one stainless steel. I kind of hate the resin and wouldn't buy it again. I don't hate the steel one. I don't reach for it first, but it's usable. Nothing beats clover although etimo is a close second.
Kim! ❤ love the review! I got a couple of the metal hooks a few weeks back (did a video on it). They still have some of those last chance hooks also (resin of course). 😊
I am so sad Furls discontinued the Odyssey hooks, those were definitely my favorite and the metal Streamline are a close replacement but I want the Odysseys back 😢
I hear ya!! I do love the new metal hooks. They don't seem to be able to keep good stock either. I'm still an Ophire hook fan! I don't miss Furls anymore!
I will also not be buying that yarn and probably not the hooks either. I like that you tell the truth about them instead of just gushing about everything. As someone who has to very carefully consider before making any purchases, I appreciate the honesty!!
Thank you, and I really appreciate your comment!! We all work too hard (or save) our $$$ and I don't appreciate not getting good value. I do really like the metal Furls but I can pass on the other stuff. XX Kim
Have you used the Furls Metal Steamlined on long crochet sessions - does the extra weight cause problems??? Which are your favourites now - Tulip Etimo, Ophire or Furls Metal Streamline hooks?
Hi! So I have used the Furls Metal and I do love the smoothness of them...but not for more than about 3 hours (crochet session while watching TV.) I would say they are heavy, but it didn't seem to be an issue...the only thing was that the hook was cold when I started and it was a little uncomfortable. My favorites now would probably be the Ophire as my everyday, all around favorites. I like the Tulips for when I travel because of the carrying case (I can take the whole set). Ophire I use at home for the majority of my projects. I do like the Furls and I had the opportunity to try out their NEW small hooks (smaller than 4.0 but they are still in production). So I guess my answer depends on where I am (traveling or at home). My overall favorite would be the Ophire Co. :) XX Kim
@@Kimberly_Knit4Brains Ok, so I have just purchased six 4.5mm hooks to try. I am learning to crochet with Granny Squares - all the same yarn (DK Cotton, 8ply). I got the Furls aluminium streamline and the Laurel wood Streamline, Ophire resin in Sapphire, Tulip Etimo in Rose, Clover Amour (Turquoise), and the Prym Ergonomic (Orange). Can’t wait to try these out. I do get hand cramps whilst writing so I think with this selection I’ll find the perfect hook style for me 🧡🙌. Thanks for your comprehensive reviews Kim 🫶🏻
Wow!!! I think you will find your "new best friend" in that collection!! Would love to get your feedback! Thanks for letting my reviews help you! XX Kim
I have tried everywhere online to get size 4 in the cream color but every site is sold out. Does anyone know how I can purchase one? The hooks look amazing! I crochet a lot and between my fingers I catch where the handle ends and the hook begins and it’s irritating my fingers. These hooks look so perfectly ergonomic I’m really excited about purchasing a lot of them!!!
I am having a problem seeing the sizes stamped on the hooks. I find that I need a magnifying glass in order to find where the size is. When you compare hooks can you mention where the sizes are put on the actual hook (not the box)
Hi Barb!! You know, you're absolutely right! It IS hard to see the number on the hook!! The Ophire's are so easy to read because they are stamped in white! Good point, thank you!!
I have the 7mm & 8mm streamline hooks for making Loveys. I ❤️❤️ them. 😁
👋Hi! I really like this one as well!! 😁
Do you like the metal or resin for your Loveys?
@@donnaf3220 I don't have the resin hooks, but I like the metal better than the Clover Plastic. Have a good day! 🥰

They are lovely!
I’ve looked everywhere but cannot find the size 4 in the color I would like to have. Do you have any suggestions on where I could buy them?
eBay?
What is the name of the yarn you are using with the metal hook? It looks so pretty!

My Ophir just snapped the end off when I slid it back in the tube handle side 1st. I was really sad because it was working so well

Replacement trees is nice since California burned so many trees… you could use a big wood one as part of your yarn room decor.
