Honestly liking central coast more than any other post produced channel. Really like the format and the vibes, and of course - the commentary. Keep it up you guys. Always looking forward to the events you cover
Yes thanks for the coverage! I grew up playing Dela and I was heartbroken when they dropped the Masters from the tour. I love this course deeply. Thanks for what you guys do!
"Going on 40 years..." I just played at the 40th anniversary dubs tournament at Kentwood in Raleigh. These old courses are part of the history of our sport and it's great to see them still being relevant today.
It’s really important that Shasta is on commentary. Not only is he great on the mic, but he’s a walking talking disc golf history book. This is awesome!
Funny story dga has a bunch of discs with names like pipeline hurricane ect I thought Shasta Criss was like a surf or snowboard slang till I saw him on a card haha
'93 was my first Masters Cup and Marty Hapner was the TD back THEN. The next year it rained all three days and I almost cried during my 5 1/2-hour second round. DeLa isn't just a course, it's an experience.
Marty and I would end up carded together in final rounds in the late 80's.Tripped when i I heard his name. From Dala monthlies I remember posts and a snowman, turbo puts with my dreads flying!
@@JezzyandtheBear who exactly did I put down? Would you say the existence of this coverage proves that we NEED the DGPT to be able to watch the Masters Cup from home? Did they have anything to do with this coverage? I could tell you why they demoted the Masters Cup from silver series this year but THEN I’d have to put people down or make them look bad. I chose not to do that.
Absolutely love seeing coverage of the Master's Cup...It was a pleasure throwing TotW with you and Chandler the other day Nate. Great commentary as usual and I really like hearing some of the history that you and Shasta have with this course and the tournament itself over the years. Someone should really make a mini documentary about the history of DeLa...
Great work ccdg! I always enjoy your coverage of tournaments. Top rate editing, commentary and filming. Dgn could learn a thing or two from you all. I'm looking forward to the rest of the Master's Cup coverage and, of course, the next champs v chumps. Thanks for all the hard work.
Thanks for the great coverage Central Coast. My all-time favorite course to play. Such a beautiful, unique, classic place to play. There's only one DeLa!
Can I make a suggestion? I was in Santa Cruz about a week ago. If possible, the camera guys should head around town and get good shots of the town for the intro….like the boardwalk.
The Masters Cup has been around since 1986, but went by the "Santa Cruz Open" for the first two years before being renamed to the Masters Cup, as a nod to the Masters golf tournament that historically took place around the same time of year as this event. Since the events inception, the event has been through many iterations including layout, staff, and TD's. Most notably, the Masters Cup was the longest standing event on the PDGA National Tour being on that specific tour throughout its entire growth, for 16 years. This is the 37th year of the Masters Cup.
I love watching cards like this. You have Gannon, who is a top ten tour player, Redalen, a decent tour player, and then a couple guys on the 40 tour. Interesting to see how the wiley vets play these holes since they don't have the 500 ft power.
A couple of days ago I watched Shasta and Stokely playing in a tournament in Asia and now watching him play with Gannon and Cole and long time friend Tony Tran at DeLa. Shasta is covering a lot of ground and disc golf past, present, and future. Very cool for Shasta and for the rest of us, too.
I cannot be more stoked. Central Coast filming, DGA sponsoring the Master's cup, Shasta & Cole on a card and Shasta on commentary? Monday couldn't get any better.
Lived 30 years in Santa cruz and just moved to Colorado last year. Barely got into disc golf this year. I played golf at dela all the time. Never realized what I had there
Get this back on tour this course is what disc golf is about. It’s so technical with tight lines. I’d much rather watch this than 500foot bombs on a golf course
I love DLV. I've only gotten to play there once, and I got rained out before I could finish, but it was terrific. Hopefully I'll get another chance soon!
not sure if there will ever be more cell service (aka ability to stream)at DeLa, and there will probably never be an easy way to get big crowds packed in, but I’ll be damned if this course shouldn’t be on the pro tour.
If it’s a streaming issue dela should work something out with the local cell company’s and let them put a tower there mite even be able to make some $$$$$ off it
Vans DGAF about some nerds playing disc golf! Hey Steve, instead of the snow, bmx, skate budget let’s get these disc golfers in the mix, so pick which one you’re gonna cut! Disc golfers still don’t get it! Disc golf is huge just ask em!
I'm not sure why people call the Dga mach 10 the mach X. They use Roman numerals such as III and V. But no one calls those I,I,I or vee? Just curious 🤔 😊
What you saw was a field of inexperienced players lose to Barsby a seasoned vet. Put Nikko or McBeast in that field and you'd see a lot better scoring.
I was playing a training round, maybe the first one after deciding to go pro. I was practicing all the rules, and waving at an imaginary gallery. I was having such fun with it that I was actually crushing it, well under par on a difficult course. After making a 35 foot obstructed putt over a boulder, I waved as I jogged in to retrieve my disc. An older guy who I had not yet noticed was playing the hole behind me, and he clapped for my birdie. It was a surreal moment then, and soon after when I almost aced in front of a whole skate park full of teenagers. Then I made the 20 foot comeback putt through a V shaped tree that was an epic looking shot. But Gannon is a MACHINE when it comes to putting.
This should attract all the top players, eh? What are they doing instead? And props to Gannon and Barsby et al, but where is Paul and Eagle and the rest of the top guys??
Not that this would happen, but people are weirdos nowadays..prolly shouldn’t have released where exactly Gannon was staying and what he was saying in…just saying. Some may say that is doxing. Be careful!
Terrible change to hole 1 - that's most certainly a par 4 now... I looked at the stats for it so far... =) ZERO birdies after 2 rounds and in round 2 an average of 4.13... absolutely stupid change. Maybe this kind of thing is why everyone's in Copenhagen this weekend.
awful change on hole 1. first off, don't mess with an iconic course. second, the new hole is objectively a bad hole and much worse than the actual classic hole. It's frustrating how much the messed with a truly iconic course just to try to make it more like what we see on tour now by making safari par 4s. dumb.
It's at least partly to help with the flow...from what I've heard, the rounds have been going faster than previous years with less backups due to changes like that. Its really not that tough to get par...makes it closer to the difficulty of I-5
@@owenforest6229 I-5 should also not be a par 3 though. I know the history of the course is a par 3 course, but it's dumb if no one is even coming close to birdieing those holes on a weekend. A two on either of those holes is definitely worth the eagle, especially considering that some really hard par 4s are two-ed more than those holes. I know that par doesn't really matter, since strokes are how it's scored, but when birdies are just out of the question, I just wonder what the point is, you know?
Thank you for having this. One of the biggest casualties of a growing sport is DeLa.

Gotta love DeLa and it’s “par” system. Birdie enthusiasts punching the air from the very start of the round.
