Love the vlogs. That house doesn’t feel like you. It’s not open enough. Too many boxy rooms even as you enter the house. It doesn’t feel open, airy and vast. Just my opinion.

Basquiat was a tortured man. Compulsively creative, he drew on any surface available because he just could not stop trying to get the crazy out of his head. It was nonstop. He was literally possessed. The movie about him said a lot about this.
The fact he passed in squalor and suffering in the depths of insanity, but can’t have his collection in one place because the insurance is too expensive - says a lot about how his pieces were “sanitized” from his mental issues and now considered “beautiful” in isolation from the man and the actual expressions of his continuous suffering, simply because the people observing his stuff can’t relate to this level of crazy and are too sane to just randomly paint on a door, or be THAT creative in general, elevated him into becoming - a legend.
Wow you have tremendous insight on Basquiat. I will definitely have to watch the documentary.
The film with David Bowie is the one I’m referring to. But any doc you see on him is amazing and revealing.
My memory was fuzzy. Andy passed first, and they had a falling out before Andy’s passing.

Alternatively, people love the De Gournay House for the same reason they love Basquiat. They could never be that bold or committed to this extreme style of decor, namely big, bold murals on every wall. It’s just that the murals came from a place of simply pushing boundaries, and not straight up insanity.

Not seeing it in person it is hard to give an opinion and I live on the east coast which is a different vibe. However, your current home is so open and this home seems chopped up. But again you are used to major remodeling and it would be fun for your viewers to go through it with you. The property is beautiful. Good luck with your decision.
