Saw this at Sundance and it stole the show for me. It’s a beautiful film both visually and philosophically that is a hypnotizing meditation on the human experience. It’s the kind of film that will resonate with you long after you watch it. Very reminiscent of Terrance Malick’s Tree of Life, but through a more sci-fi lense. Go see it when you get the chance!
I used to live in the house that they filmed it in lol
You mentioned the tree of life and i now i am even more ecxited!
I have seen all of Malick’s films with the exception Tree Of Life.... this looks pretty good, def going to watch them both. Thanks
@@dapperdandalorianstudios7464 what city is it? Looks beautiful
Stop the cap how'd you get into Sundance?
everyone that saw this at sundance film festival kept saying this was their favorite film. i can’t wait to watch this
I'll add to that and said, yes. Yes.
Was good!
Definitely one of the best things I saw there
Ur pfp 😳
yeah its fucking beautiful
Glad that Colin is taking films that showcase what he can do. Dude has always be such a great talent.
I really enjoy Colin showcasing what he can't do. Much more entertaining.
Well he has taken great films for a while now...
He's had a great trajectory over the last 10 years. Started as a pretty boy, taking pretty boy roles - but he's really honed his talent and is a fantastic actor these days. Kinda like Brad Pitt, though I think Colin is an even better actor.
He did a great job as The Penguin in Batman!
👍
Since I don’t see any comments mentioning this, this is based on the short story “saying goodbye to mr. Yang” it’s honestly really enjoyable for only being a few pages and worth a read. The movie obviously will be an original work that goes further than the original story.
does the short story also hit racial quotas for the characters?
@@deliciousvegans4505 actually, i think you'd like it! it has a character you can relate to - a racist asshole who gets angry at simply being reminded that people of other races exist! he's a technician. :)
@@devzorsmallz Veyr low IQ response, as anticipated from people like you. Tell me, why does every single film need to have racial representation? It's art and entertainment, not propaganda, right? And more importantly, why does suggesting that films don't need excessive diversity in racial casting make someone a "racist"? Are we to eventually expect Japanese films to be multi-racial as well?
@@deliciousvegans4505 you're just going off about stuff nobody cares about, go off king
@@deliciousvegans4505 I don't see what's wrong about it, it's just a movie. Care to explain?
A24 does not disappoint. It's great to see a film marketing company that puts quality of product first.
They’re just distributors
@@EddyTheMartian in that case, they have a real eye for picking unusual products that are also good.
@@EddyTheMartian This argument makes no sense. Of course they're just distributors but they clearly curate a certain level of film.
@@harrypooter00 He just wanted to make sure you knew he knew they were distributors.
I wish people gave more credit to the actual filmmakers than the middlemen. Some people are actually thinking A24 is making these films.
Columbus is one of my all-time favorite films. I cannot express how ecstatic I am to experience After Yang.
C C P in Vancouver 4500 deaths by overdoses and 20 murders average a month since pandemic started / 5 billion in only one industry in one city for laundering money each year in vancouvers real estate
Truckers 0 Deaths and 18 million donated to them as a charity, bank acoounts frozen and claimed terrorist in canada
👍 👍..
Kogonada's 'Columbus' is such a beautiful, measured, meditative piece of filmmaking. Pleased to see he's bringing the same approach here.
It was boring actually.
@@beevee9480 Well, you’re boring actually but you can’t win ‘em all.
@@beevee9480 Yeah for you it's boring, speak for yourself
@@Fl0k5ser I was thanks. 🤡
@@beevee9480 okay why are you even here anyways, why not keep that boring opinion to yourself 😂😂😂🤡
Such a one of kind movie. Calm and silent, no forcing to have any emotions but make you feel tons…
Loved this movie. It feels a bit distant at first but it grows on you and becomes pretty emotionally profound by the end in a way that made me think of Arrival or Her. Kogonada really takes a different approach to AI here- serene, curious and nonjudgmental in a way that sets it apart from any other film I’ve seen that explores the subject. Can’t wait to watch it again and peel back the layers even further
It's definitely a lot like Her. I'd say it also reminded me of Malik's "Tree of Life", but in a good way. I found this film to be a brilliant meditation on existence, grief, and identity. Columbus was great, but this was even more emotionally resonant for me.
Slow shots. Meandering themes. A Twenty-Four
Is it in any way scary?
@@bedbug02 Imagine scary, and then the opposite of scary.
The Vortex - Betraying God and Country by Church Militant.
Collin Farrell is one of this generation's best actors. Give the man his flowers!
He deserves awards for the North water
👍...
He’s a master actor better than even some of the ones we call the greats. Confirmed by Al Pacino himself Colin is the greatest actor of his generation.
Kogonada used to make video essays on films (still does) on his website and UA-cam channel. Yes, he has a background in film but every time when someone makes a video essay discussing or critiquing film you have to wonder if the person is just an armchair critique who would falter when placed in the shoes of a film maker. This guy took up the challenge when provided the opportunity and proved he's the real deal. _After Yang_ is his second feature film after _Columbus_ and both films have garnered critical praise. His career is one to keep an eye on.
Production design on this was so beautiful, so soothing. I loved this almost minimalist take on futuristic design. And a very poignant story as well. A24 level of quality!
👍...
Colombus is one of the most gracious, meditative films I've seen and holds a special place in my heart. Kogonada has earned my trust, I'm excited to see this and what he's doing with the aspect ratio!
Man, Ferrel has had such a diversified career.. Very underrated actor imo.. He's always so good, and all his latest films have been very well thought
This was my favorite film from Sundance. Kogonada is one of the most exciting storytellers on the rise.
👍 👍 👍...
This film definitely feels influenced by the likes of Tarkovsky and Malick, although it comes off as far less meandering than the works of the latter. I appreciate how deliberate and contemplative the film is, and just lets each frame breathe as long as it needs to.
Collin Farrell is really hitting his stride. I love him in independent movies
He hit his stride about 15 years ago, but the public didn't really catch on until In Bruges or True Detective S2. He's done a lot of great and diverse indie roles in that time.
@@f-grade He started indie with Tigerland and then I remember a period after In Bruges where he was doing shitty big pictures (Total Recall jumps to mind) and now he's (mostly) back to indie movies. I hope he stays there
👍 👍...
He has done a lot of good movies over the years. The Lobster, Miami Vice (which was underrated), Minority Report...
me too!!!
Columbus is a treat of a film. I've been curious what and when Kogonada's sophomore effort would be. I'm thoroughly excited to see this film.
Is this Colin Ferrel's third A24 film? I loved him in Yorgos's "The Lobster" and "The Killing of a Sacred Deer"
I thought, "ugh, another robot-is-human story", but this looks quite beautiful.
Same
It’s actually a pretty good subversion of that trope, I think you might enjoy it.
@@Gemnist98 is it out ? where did you guys see it ?
@@DavidoMAMO sundance festival, either go there or watch online via tickets
Still kinda how i feel. Ex machina, ai, bicentennial man, i robot, her, there’s only so many i can watch lol
I caught this film at Sundance. Absolutely unreal piece of art! This film made me fall in love with cinema again.
Hopefully you've actually dived into the work of Kogonada since you're such a fan, right?
@@hugh-jasole I've yet to see Columbus but I have seen a bit of his shorts and video essay type projects. I admire his love for film and I think that shows within his work.
@@hugh-jasole You sound a bit condescending for no reason
Sounds cool!!!
My favorite from Sundance this year. I watched Columbus for the first time last year and it startled me with how much I was affected by it. After Yang is a fantastic sophomore debut
If someone is desperately looking for the MUSIC in this trailer (like I was): it’s called: ‘Hollow Hearts’ by ARKIVAL & Jessica Jarvis
Can't wait for everyone to watch this beautiful movie on March 4! 😍
Looking forward to seeing you and everyone in this film!! I'm a A24 fan, and as usual this looks amazing!!
I really enjoyed your performance. Thank you for sharing.
@@craigledger4645 thank you! appreciate it! :)
Hey did you act in this movie?
keep shinning sweetheart..... can't wait for it on Indonesia's theater
Columbus was a masterpiece so I'm looking forward to see what Kogonada brings to this
I love the fact how Colin Farrell as Hollywood star involves himself in independent projects like this
Colin is so underrated. He steals just about every movie he's in.
Looks amazing! Can't wait for this! And it's about time the world realises what a talented actor Colin is! He's been one of my favourite actors (along with Alan Rickman, Ben Whishaw, Lee Pace...) for two decades now (since I saw him in Minority report). He can play such a variety of characters! From an endearing ar*ehole in In Bruges (one of his best roles, imo) to a historical figure (Alexander), from an elegant and yet threatening villain (Fantastic Beasts) to a vulnerable young man (The Home at the end of the world), from an arrogant publicist (Phone Game) to a brilliant surgeon (The killing of the sacred deer)... etc.
Colin Farrell is the people’s champ. The man really deserves more accolades for his roles through the years.
I thought because of the way it was described it was gonna be cheesy, but I also wanted to try out the trailer. Thank goodness I did, it looks really good! I already feel like crying LOL
I’m watching After Yang now for the first time and it’s a very beautiful film with so much to say. Colin Farrell gives a most heartfelt performance.
Just came from Colin Farrell's Hot ones episode. I didn't even know this movie was coming out! Looks phenomenal. Bicentenial man and Artificial Intelligence: AI are two of my favorite films, this looks like it tackles a similiar problem but from a more human experience/view. Can't wait to watch!
👍 👍..
Could be one of the best A24 films yet! What a cast!
What a cast!
Same.
Hereditary and Ex Machina would like to have a word with you.
@@checkurwristwatch9739 “one of the best”. Dude wasn’t saying “it WILL BE THE BEST”
Midsommer
It reminds me a bit of "Bicentennial Man" and "A.I." mixed together.
There’s just no way that’s the same guy in The Batman trailers.
Not entirely sure what was going on, but I'm intrigued.
Nobody is mentioning it, but that woman is STUNNING!
Wow, this looks like it definitely would touch our hearts, and possibly a tear jerker...can't wait to see it! 💙

When is the soundtrack/score for this going to be on spotify? There's some really good music for this and I really want to listen to it again.
Same! I love this trailer music
I feel Ex-machina+Her vibes. I can't wait to watch it.
É uma pena enorme eu não ver ngm falando desse filme. Achei ele graças ao pinterest e ele me tocou de uma forma INEXPLICÁVEL ❤️
I grew up in a town 25 minutes from Columbus Indiana. Watching Columbus was a spiritual experience for me. Will definitely be checking this out.
Showtime has a good reputation for quality mini majors and indies like Orion, Carolco and Lionsgate/Artisan in the past and this is no exception. Props to them for being the first pay TV outlet for this studio.
Showtime has been killing it with quality shows and film, examples being Yellowjacket. Happy many companies are picking off what WB and HBO has been doing but decided to lay it off nowadays.
A24 makes good films
@@minister2965 HBO hasn't ''laid it off''. It still has many riveting shows to offer, like Westworld for example.
I remember reading about this years ago, I totally thought it was scrapped, glad to see this is still happening and looks sick
It isnt happening its already happened.
I love Colin Farrel's choices the last few years, he's doing such interesting work.
O filme é muito lindo,e sensível, preparem o lenço...aqui maravilhado com a sensibilidade do diretor, atuações perfeitas e trilha sonora maravilhosa.
I thought at first Collin Farrell was playing the synthetic character since he doesn't seem to age in real life.
I loved Justin’s acting in this, you could feel his emotions through the screen. But that bowl hairstyle is taking me out😭😭
the quality and cinematography in this film is crazy
just rewatched ex machina a few days ago. and this is made by A24?? ok. yes. i’m in
This looks way more wholesome than Ex Machina though lol
Ex machina has a special place in my heart one of the first a24 movies I saw in theaters
@derekbd thanks for correcting me lol now I look like a FOOL xD
This movie was extremely my thing. Asking, “What might an A.I consider worth remembering?” It’s a Zen like meditation on the beauty of life’s minutiae.
The Batman and This on the same day. Collin killing it as usual.
and "Hot Ones"
I LOVE how this trailer for just second goes into like "scary bot becomes human" / "oooh you may not want this bot in your house anymore... *scary bot skeleton*" then goes right back into like "nah were not that type of movie, this is a beautiful, realistic, and heartfelt story were telling here". I can't wait to see it!
One critic decided that Colin Farrell has "never been better". At what? Sitting on furniture and staring at things?
I can't stop rewatching this trailer. When that happens you know it'll be good.
The opening credits of this film is absolutely fantastic. You are not ready for this!!
A white husband with a black wife and a Korean kid… must be a 2022 movie!
I urge everybody to watch Columbus, Kogonada's first film.
This looks awesome 😍
I feel like this is what it’d look like. If Terrance Malik tried his hands at a sci fi film.
Looks like the director drew a lot of inspiration from him.
Looks intoxicating, can’t wait to watch this.
A.I.24
love the aspect ratio switches
Well, if nothing else, this trailer proves that not all trailers ruin the movie by revealing all the plotpoints. I learnt very little about the film from this trailer beyond being told it's amazing.
... meh...
This film is a hauntingly beautiful piece of modern art.
I saw this today. It was very gentle - like a warm cuddle on a rainy Sunday morning.
I've been waiting for Kogonada's second feature ever since I watched Columbus. This looks so fucking good, and I cannot wait for it be released.
Malea Emma, Indonesian representative in singing US national anthem and now this? SALUTE from Indonesia.
After Yang has a phenomenal cast!
Awesome, amazing movie. Thank you Apple and everyone involved.
A24, a savior of modern cinematic arts.
this movie is visually pleasing
This movie unlock about life on how we think positively. It's brilliant
I saw this with my robot at Sundance. They haven't been the same since.
Not everyone talked about this movie but this is my most favorite A24 movie they made.
After seeing Colin in North Water , he is now my favourite actor. Holy heck is he good in that!
People out here acting like A24 actually make these movies. They are a distributor. They curate. They do not produce.
They started out as just a distributor, but they have produced several films and TV shows beginning with Moonlight. After Yang is one of them.
COLIN FARRELL UNDERRATED AND UNDERAPPRECIATED
AI : Can I be honest with you?
Her: Is not being honest an option for you?
That blew my mind.
ben's mom, grace, must be so proud of him here. he definitely learned a lot from her on how to be act like a robot
wow. one of the very first trailers in literally years without a sound kick effect in the beginning like "booom".
Columbus is hands down one of my all time favorite films. Kogonada is a director I'm eagerly anticipating.
Columbus is one of my favorite movies of all time. Def checking this.
Colin picks some good ones. Love the beauty of A24 movies.
This and EX MACHINA are my choices for best AI move, because the AIs are less important than the human characters they affect
A spin-off of Ex-Machina. Very nice.
I haven't even seen Before Yang yet...
Trailer: What are you watching?
Me: The cinematography
Colin Farrell and A24...two of my fravorite things...
I will watch anything from A24 and Collin Ferrel so obviously… yes
This gives me that ‘HER’ film feeling with Ex Machina sprinkle.
The thought, "don't go there" is the first thing that came to mind. I'm certain this is going to be very thought provoking, and a good story to watch.
Very soon Kogonada has to do a video essay titled "Kogonada // Beauty, understated".
A24 puts out bangers after bangers after bangers!!! Keep em coming!
i just know i´m gonna cry watching this movie,thanks alot A24 :-)
It's giving what "Her" gave and I'm so here for it.
I'm just here for Colin Farrell
After Yang, comes the Yin. With both, one can conquer the great balance of body unification with the universe spiritual energy. And thus, conquered death.
This feels like a slightly different film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun, looks great
Columbus was such a beautiful, moving film. I was already sold on this halfway through the trailer when I realized it was a Kogonada film and then I went "!!!!!!"
1:50 "What are you watching?"
Me: I don't know.
